In my nearly 4 years in SL, I have found the best place for socializing is the Forum Cartel Hangout in world.  It hosts dancing, freebies, live music,chatting, the greatest and most diversified crowd in SL (my opinion), sandbox, photo studio and freebies for noobs.  The people are always welcoming and willing to assist with questions and/or, you can normally find someone to kick about the grid with there or in the group chat.  If you are having trouble finding people or friends, I highly recommend the hangout :)

***** Well Roxy, it looks like the authorities don't want you to do any socialising in the forums. Just ask a question and clear off back inworld when you get an answer. ********** I fancy fried fish and chips for supper; how about you? ********** Sorry for the rubbish appearance of my posts; this forum software seems to want to randomly strip formatting out as well as hiding text editing facilities. Still, you catch my drift, I am sure. *****

For me, i have  been going to the Vortex club EVERY week for FIVE YEARS. It's like the hub for my friends in second life. We set our avatars to dance and then just chat & catch up on whats happening in SL or with the Lab while listening to music played by our DJ friends. At the heart of every community in SL is a Club of some sort :)

On the offhand chance that Lexie means inworld places, chalk up another vote for the Forum Cartel Hangout.  St. Patrick's day party coming Thursday night 6-8pm, SLT!

Newbies always welcome.  Dress as you like - always happy to see aliens, odd species and whatever!

I totally agree!   (FCH in world)

SLU is the best forum to socialize on!

*jumps up and down waving her hand frantically*

Pick me!  Pick me!  I know the answer!

FACEBOOK, right???  I mean, seeing as how it's the "Best Place" to find out about what's happening in Second Life, and it's obviously a highly successful social network?

/me slopes off to the Blue Mermaid in Caledon, hiding a grin (and sadly confident that she will never see Lexie there)

When it comes to in-world locations, add my vote for the Forum Cartel Hangout.  I don't have much time to spend there nowadays, but for a long time it was the center of my social life in SL, and many of the friends I made there are still among my close contacts today.

I also have to put in a plug for the regular events in New Toulouse, the estate where I live.  New Toulouse is usually a friendly place - just wandering the grounds you can usually find someone to strike up a conversation with.  The regular weekly and monthly events there are very well attended, too.  If you drop by any of the New Toulouse sims you can find  information about regular events at the infohubs there.

Full disclosure: I run one of those events.  ;)  But, it's very well attended and everyone always has a good time.  And it is my favorite place to socialize!

If we still had the old fora I'd have said General Discussions or Resident Answers ... but nowadays it's definitely SLU. I just arrived there in February, but found a lot of nice, opinionated (in a good way) and knowledgeable folks. In-world the Forum Cartel hangout (which sort of grew out of the old RA crowd) is a good place.

Word.  I love that Cthulhu button.  It amuses me.  Apart from SLU I like hanging out in my store (Avatar Bizarre) for a bit of socializing.  I love talking to my customers.  I also hop on the Twisted Hunt group chat for hours of entertainment and socializing, particularly when people are cursing my name for hiding the box too well :)

//BEGIN MESSAGE

Well, in Second Life, I usually go on the forum. In-world, I go to one of my most favourite places, like Tron: Legacy Adventures in Vixens Isle in which I ride in my lightcycle on the Tron Grid in SL, some raceway tracks when I drive my 2011 Zapax. I also visit places to shop and I go to sandboxes to build. I always keep an eye out for griefings and plan to evacuate the area. I like to chat with people, even with voice.

Outside of Second Life, I go on IMVU, Zwinky, GaiaOnline, Meez, WeeWorld, Habbo, Twitter and Facebook, and sometimes Myspace.
