I think we all know that people who skirt the line use adult bodies, but a couple of comments in the other thread reminded me of something today that I didn't even think of, and I don't think anyone at LL did ether. It's that there are adult bodies that can go much younger then the skirting the age crowd. What I remember was an avatar I had originally made when I had contemplated joining the Mischief Managed RP about 2 years ago. In order to start there, one requirement is that if your starting at the youngest grade they offer, is that the avatar would be 11. So I created an avatar to fit, using Maitreya, because at the time, it was the avatar I had with the most clothing to fit the strict dress code.https://mischiefmanagedsl.net/school-dresscode/ I didn't end up joining the RP cause I realized I didn't have time to do it. Luckily still found the avatar in a folder [I actually thought I had deleted her]. But it brings up a good point that I hadn't even thought of till now. This is said 11 year old avatar. Nothing about her skirts this policy, she would and should fall under it pretty clear. But If I can easily go 11 with an adult body, how does LL plan to enforce the modesty layer if my understanding about needing it built in to the body is correct, for those who use adult bodies for younger avatars. It seems absolutely absurd and flat out uncalled for to insist adult bodies have a built in layer too. Now if this just needs to be built into the the skin as many have suggested, or a BoM layer will suffice, then it removes the issue entirely of course. But this is why this layer NEEDS clarification! I will also add some of the important questions that have come up in the other thread too, minus the age appearance one, I think LL has over 100 pages of that they can go through for opinions. Does the layer need to be built into the body, will a layer built into an avatar skin be good enough, can BoM underwear be counted as compiling? Will there be a difference regarding the gender of the avatar? Does the age the avatar in question dictate what the layer should look like? [I'd argue it should since a teen vs a 5 year is not the same, especially in regard to gender, especially at older ages.] Do non human avatars need a layer too? The majority of mainstream avatars for kids are BoM just like adult bodies, so how do all the BoM layers [skins, tattoos, clothing, etc] fall into this? What about needing to alpha for mesh clothing? Just like adults, kid clothing doesn't always fit right and needs an alpha layer or alpha from the hud, is using an alpha layer for this going to make any kid avatar trying to get mesh clothing to fit non compliant since you said alpha was not good enough? How does this work? Maitreya requires the use of one of the onion layers, if I remember correctly, to smooth out that area. I wonder if a locked version of something like that would be easier for Maitreya if they choose to be concerned about it. With Reborn, it's entirely handled by the HUD. Although not many people would probably be using that one for an under 18 avatar, it's possible. Again, a version with those parts permanently enabled might be easier than reworking the entire mesh. It can break some content in those areas but not as much as having to start from scratch with a brand new ToS compliant body with NO content. I'd like to know if body creators could do this easily and if so, would they?

I forget exactly. WIllowdale parcels are outstanding... beautifully landscaped with quality trees, plants, water features, birds, but with plenty of room (and LI) to add your home and your own landscaping and deco. Personally, I have never seen an estate where parcels are prepared this way. It must take considerable time and expense, and makes them welcoming even before you settle in. Tenants also get access to several fun areas, such as a racetrack and a glorious beach. But more importantly, the estate owner, Imagin Illyar, is very kind, and VERY prompt to help with any issues which might arise (for example, a region needed a restart due to some SL quirk). I have frequently recommended Willowdale to friends, for the reasons given above. Given what all you get, rents are very low. The rules are logical, common sense ones, clearly showing an understanding of how SL works - unlike others I have seen. Many rules are geared to peaceful coexistence with other tenants on the same region, such as restricting sounds to your own parcel, and keeping sky builds out of view of preexisting builds. In summary, I cannot recommend Willowdale enough. I had asked that she let me know when she might have a corner up for rent and sure enough, good on her word, she did. It was great as the parcel was already landscaped with tree and plants and flowers and a few discrete objects - like seating and a pontoon in the lagoon all with animations. No problem returning anything you don't need to the owner. Imagin was very helpful and understanding when I moved in. The parcel itself is beautiful... my visitor words, not just mine. It is also a quite private place to live with absolutely no annoyance from neighbors. No complains and Imagin is always ready with advice about how to get the best out of your investment. I forget exactly. WIllowdale parcels are outstanding... beautifully landscaped with quality trees, plants, water features, birds, but with plenty of room (and LI) to add your home and your own landscaping and deco. Personally, I have never seen an estate where parcels are prepared this way. It must take considerable time and expense, and makes them welcoming even before you settle in. Tenants also get access to several fun areas, such as a racetrack and a glorious beach. But more importantly, the estate owner, Imagin Illyar, is very kind, and VERY prompt to help with any issues which might arise (for example, a region needed a restart due to some SL quirk). I have frequently recommended Willowdale to friends, for the reasons given above. Given what all you get, rents are very low. The rules are logical, common sense ones, clearly showing an understanding of how SL works - unlike others I have seen. Many rules are geared to peaceful coexistence with other tenants on the same region, such as restricting sounds to your own parcel, and keeping sky builds out of view of preexisting builds. In summary, I cannot recommend Willowdale enough. Goes to show that it's not always how big your name is in SL that makes a good service. After contacting her, I went ahead and rented a plot, it wasn't what I had in mind, because I wanted a corner at the time but was determinded to make Willowdale our home. I had asked that she let me know when she might have a corner up for rent and sure enough, good on her word, she did. So....another move was in store, but we didn't mind because we found our "forever" home with the best service possible! Willowdale Estate is an amazing place to live, the sims are so beautifully landscaped and decorated and if you want to remove anything to do your own you can just return the items to Imagin. There is always very little to no lag on the sims, even when SL seems to have a rough day. Imagin is a sweet and kind and wonderful woman that is always there if you have any troubles or questions always sending out notecards with helpful hints and always making sure the sims are running smoothly. The land is absolutely gorgeous, and Imagin is a wonderful landlord. When it comes to breedables, most landlords either don't allow them at all, or insist that movement be off. Imagin just asks that you don't go too crazy with them. She's very understanding when it comes to needing to make a late payment, and she's very helpful if you mess up with the land and need help. She also gives free things for winter landscaping. It is WELL worth the cost to rent land from Willowdale Estates, and I can't imagine living anywhere else on Second Life. The covenant ensures both privacy and freedom to enjoy your parcel, and the landscaping provided with it saves a lot of work while allowing many options. The parcels are also quite beautiful, and there's something for every taste and budget. We've just released an Alpha build of Firestorm that integrates the Linden Lab PBR project viewer. I have to emphasise that this is Alpha, in the same sense that the LL version is too. This is not release quality but the hope is that many of our users will be keen to test this new technology out and at the same time provide ourselves and, more importantly at this stage, Linden Lab, with valuable bug reports and user experience feedback. PBR server-side support is not yet ready for mainstream and is only available in a limited number of regions on the main grid (Agni), it is also present on the beta grid (Aditi). This is a shiny, fun, bug-hunting spree. The more we find now, the less painful things are later on.
