  1. I wasn't making any mesh back in those days so didn't pay attention. Most of my knowledge about mesh has occurred in the last two years. I just learned Blender when Bento hit the grid.
  2. Do you see TurboSquid selling in SL? No, because it's prohibited. Creators in Sansar have bought models directly from TurboSquid. They use them in their experiences. I've seen some make modifications and sell them in the store as well. *** added: Those that were modded and sold may have been the ones that got removed. I've never bought anything from Turbo so haven't really paid attention to their licensing other than to hear the explanation of why you can use Turbo in Sansar and can't in SL. The explanation was that SL is open and Sansar is closed. Now I'm done.
  3. Using TurboSquid products in Virtual Worlds. This use is prohibited if the virtual world-type is an open MMO, like Second Life. However, the use is allowed if the MMO is a closed MMO, like World of Warcraft. More specifically, the 3D model may not be exported or sold. As I've tried to state .. SL is open and Sansar is closed. I'm not sure what you're getting at. And I gave an example of how they even have a store front in Sansar. So you're confusing me.
  4. Sansar is not open source. Not only is it not forbidden they actually have their own store front in Sansar.
  5. I use normal maps quite a bit in SL as well as Sansar. In Sansar I can get quite heavy handed in making my normal maps because PBR rendering is wonderful in rendering those maps. Here in SL I have to be very careful to be sure the maps produce subtle effects. Plus I know that some of my customers don't use ALM so for them they won't see the effects of a normal map anyway, so I try to make my products look good with or without the normal map. Also, I think I'm probably the only person alive who uses Gimp and not Blender or Substance or one of those other programs to make normal maps. I thought the issue wasn't with the LL TOS but the licenses from those sites exclude selling on any open-source platform because theft is so prevalent. As an example, I believe TurboSquid prohibits selling in SL but is fine with Sansar. I could be misinformed though.
  6. Maybe I'm in the minority, but when I see 100% original mesh to me it means the creator modeled the mesh. They didn't use a template. They didn't buy the mesh model from a website and then upload to SL. If the label said 100% original creation then perhaps I would think that the artist didn't use any source material for inspiration. That the total creation came from the imagination of the creator. When I'm shopping for mesh, I want to see how quickly an item rezzes. I want to check if the object has way more geometry than it should. I look to see if the item uses normal maps to get the details rather than geometry. Basically I want mesh that is functional and out of the ordinary. Do I care if the creator modeled the item after something found at Ikea? Nope, I don't care one bit. Now if I find the basic same item in nearly every store I shop at I'm not likely to buy it, why? Because it's ordinary not because I question if the mesh is original. But there's one thing I've noticed. Those models people buy from mesh model websites usually aren't optimized. It's a dead giveaway that the model was not made for SL. So I tend to think when I see something like that that it's not 100% original mesh. Again, the reason I'm not buying is because the complexity of the model is just too high for SL. Looking at those three objects you used to demonstrate your argument, I'm guessing they are speakers of some sort. I'm not familiar with them. But, I definitely would NOT buy the third one because it's obvious it hasn't been optimized for gaming. So then I'm left with the two remaining. To be honest, I like the clean lines of the first over the second. So, I'm more likely to buy the first one.
  7. I make mesh jewelry. I try to keep my ring sets at 5k or less. While I make jewelry, I also buy a lot of jewelry, because well I love jewelry. I can tell you I won't wear any one piece of jewelry that's more than 5k. But I also keep my total complexity around 50k - 70k. And even with that low a number I still usually have several rings on, earrings, and a necklace along with my mesh clothing, shoes, hair, mesh body and head. I don't have any trouble being fully accessorized and keeping my ARC low.
  8. If using firestorm, there are two places to set hover. Check both. TP to another region and see if you have the same issue sitting on furniture there. If there's no issue in a different region, then you'll know it's just your furniture.
  9. There's lots of mesh jewelry out these days with low complexity. Be sure to demo the jewelry before you buy it and check how much the jewelry raises your complexity. Keep in mind that the it's been determined that the method for determining complexity for rigged mesh seems to be unreliable. It's my opinion that while the numbers may be borked I can still do my best to keep my numbers down.
  10. I have to confess my shopping has decreased greatly over the past 6 months. And while I say I, I actually mean Debi since Blush gets nothing anymore unless it's related to creating. It's hard to find anything for sale that I don't already have at least a few of already. There are only so many pairs of jeans a girl really needs. And that pretty much goes for every other type of clothing or accessory. Honestly, I'm looking forward to shopping again once BoM is here because I think that will give me new things to buy. I also want to buy a couple pets that are animesh so still waiting on those to be released. And if any creator out there is making an animesh dancing partner, I'd buy that too!
  11. Well now I feel like an a$$. Didn't mean to imply you're in the dark ages. It's kinda cool that they are still around.
  12. You mean you really still have an AOL email????? I thought you were just pulling my leg.
  13. I thought AOL folded years ago. They're still around? added: Just googled it .. interesting 2015: Verizon Communications announces a $4.4 billion deal for AOL.
  14. You know when Yahoo got sold I was going to change my email. I use my gmail for Debi and the yahoo for Blush. But my Sansar is also yahoo. So when Yahoo did that thing I was going to just move everything to gmail, but I couldn't do that at the time because there was no way to change the email on Sansar. So I decided to just keep it until I could change my email on Sansar too. So no fair .. making me feel like I'm still in the dark ages for using yahoo!!
  15. @Dakota Linden Okay, jumping up and down excited right now. My emails are coming through on my yahoo!!! Thanks so much!
  16. Don't be fooled by excessively large inventories because some of us use that delete button like crazy so we can keep shopping!! I'm not competing with Skell. I'm sure he has me beat hands down, just saying someone with a relatively small inventory doesn't necessarily mean that person isn't a mega shopaholic!
  17. I personally don't consider having to create a new email account a good solution to getting my mail from SL. Please stay on this. Make Yahoo do the right thing. Thanks I'm not getting my mail from Sansar either. And you know the headache of changing your email there!
  18. I don't think anyone said outright that the OP wanted revenge. It was merely mentioned as a possible motivation for not wanting to leave the location. It's a discussion so discussing all possible avenues isn't an accusation unless you choose to take it as one.
  19. If you do buy the Genesis Sofie head, look in the shop for the matching skin applier for the Maitreya body. If you go with another skin or a different head, just be sure that whatever you get that you can get matching head and body appliers for your purchased head and the Mait body. Always demo whatever you might buy before buying it. That goes for skins, makeup, clothing, shoes, whatever! Be sure to check the details of any skin, head or body, to be sure the skin aligns properly with the bits, like the nose, mouth, eyes. Check the n*pples (not sure if I can say n*pples without triggering a filter) and navel with the body to make sure the skin aligns properly.
  20. I think the discrepancy in the numbers is due to comparing poles from different sources. MBA July 2017 = 67.73 MBA July 2016 = 62.5 Strawberry Singh 2018 = 40.11 Strawberry Singh 2017 = 40.09 Strawberry Singh 2016 = 60.52 I tend to think Berry has the more accurate as her sample pool is much larger. It was not my intent to mislead anyone with the Blueberry pole. I think the information displayed in the pic I posted is very clear as to who conducted the survey and who responded. Since Blueberry is a widely known creator with people who wear mesh bodies, I figured it was good information considering the topic of this thread.
