  1. Glad I waited a bit for reviews or else I would have been conned for 75L even if it was just spare change ugh still in search of a reasonably priced high quality kitchen set with not too massive LI that looks perfect for my traditional Winchester home. I have this set from moss&mink but I sometimes feel it looks out of place, I dunno, or maybe I am just bad at decorating lol. Also, are there Winchester homeowners here who used partitions or add-ons in the wide room downstairs? How did you do it?
  2. Innsmouth Early 1930s New England setting, the legendary H.P. Lovecraft region. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Innsmouth/20/241/54 The smell of the sea took on ominous implications... Reaching the crest and beheld the outspread valley beyond, where the Manuxet joins the sea just north of the long line of cliffs that culminate in Kingsport Head... On the far, misty horizon I could just make out the dizzy profile of the Head, topped by the queer ancient house of which so many legends are told; but for the moment all my attention was captured by the nearer panorama just below me. I had, I realised, come face to face with rumour-shadowed Innsmouth. — this place is about as old as my av and after all these years my inner gothling still thinks of it as a romantic date venue; make sure to turn the region windlights on!
  3. Enjoyed it, thank you so much! Really loved the ceiling and the fortune teller.
  4. Nice, I enjoyed it along with your other non-spooky sims!
  5. Try to attach L and R mesh eye to NOSE then edit to adjust.
  6. Uri Jefferson’s Freakshow Love spending an hour or two here every day since opening, wish it could stay all year round: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Luxury%20Hills/59/16/1000
  7. I mostly wear very provocative and visual kei-style clothing on SL but my favorite boutique for more conservative and “normal” looking clothes has always been {amiable} by Nodoka Vella. Normal yet super stylish and feminine, I love all her full length skirts and maxi dresses. She also makes some of the highest quality traditional non-perverse looking kimonos. 8. This is one of the coolest public spaces I have visited in the neighborhood. Really impressive, especially the underwater garden. You should host events!
  9. Well, that’s an improvement! More Asian, reminds me of a hapa friend from RL. If you are happy with the way you look, that is all that matters.
  10. Delhi Nights Hookah Bar / Indian Corner in Kiyori http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Kiyori/157/232/39 A little hidden and still under construction but very unique. There is a hookah bar here with an intimate atmosphere and a back area where you can smoke in groups. Upstairs is a small rentable Indian themed apartment, and an Indian food stall at the front.
  11. Lotus Palace Hotel and Retreat, Mumbai http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Mumbai/134/107/21 “Nestled in a picturesque rainforest landscape, somewhere in India lies a magical lake with a majestic marble palace in its center. Discover India's rich heritage, culture, and religion in an amazing landscape.” – Husband and I stayed here recently and the place is extremely photogenic!
  12. If you want to play around with lower-priced mesh heads that were designed specifically for the Korean or Chinese look, I saw these two on Flickr: Xuxu Tori Mesh Head v2.1 https://www.flickr.com/photos/xixuan/ BITSY: Mimi / MinJee / Vain: https://www.flickr.com/photos/154869656@N08/ They are available on the marketplace for only L$200 and L$800 respectively. Be warned though that these are non-bento heads meaning they are static and do not blink and depending on mouth sliders, seem to be in a permanent state of RBF (Resting ***** Face). I never bought the full versions despite them being cheap but I have seen some girls wearing these heads and they actually look cute but in that lifeless ball-joined doll kinda way. Maybe decent enough for photography, but I still recommend saving up for LeLutka Ryn or Fleur OR just get the GENUS Strong Gift.
  13. New spots from the Korean side of SL: [The milky way] http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Hikaru/60/164/25 Green story http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Green story/42/36/3567 Both are very romantic and breathtaking especially under certain windlights!
  14. Not entirely Chinese, but Kiyori has an unbelievably realistic Chinatown connected to Little Hanoi and a newly constructed Indian corner. In all my years on SL, this is the most immersive and impressive, not to mention inclusive (because “Asia” is not just China or Japan), modern Asian-themed neighborhoods I have been to that is not anime or post-apocalyptic Japan-inspired. The entire sim is so photogenic and intricately detailed with plenty of secret corners and spots that seem to take forever to rez but it is really worth the wait. Check out the themed rentals in each district as well. They are a bit on the pricey side (L$1000+ weekly) but that’s very reasonable if you consider the aesthetics and the overall ambiance. It’s like living in a mix of Shinjuku, Itaewon, and Chinatown NY. I usually hangout near the soju bar in Koreatown or at the hookah bar in Little India so have a seat and chat with me in case you see me.
  15. The Strong Face 001 Gift head is really all you need from Genus in my opinion. I have that and the Baby Face but the difference is too subtle for me to justify the expense that I sometimes wish I just spent it on an SUV. As others have said, splurge on LeLutka instead!
  16. Maitreya Lara on my main AV simply because of BOM and the availability of clothes and how easy it is to make it resemble my 1st life body: petite and frail looking; average Asian with a possibility to augment plumper but natural-looking curves whenever I feel like wearing sexier, more revealing outfits. My man started out with Slink Physique because he had a lean kinda average but toned swimmer body in real life and when I designed his AV for him we both agreed not to make him look like one of those burly steroid-pumping metrosexuals that seem to be the standard for SL male beauty. We thought it was perfect for a while but we ultimately ended up shelling out another L$3000 for the Belleza Jake when we came to terms with the depressing scarcity of high quality menswear for Slink. No complaints with Belleza Jake but he will revert to wearing Slink anytime if designers made new clothes for it. On my transwoman alt, she also wears Maitreya Lara but without the V-Tech mod because I conceptualized her character to be “only one surgery away from being full-fledged female” which means she has been on hormones and had extensive plastic surgery to look feminine, if a bit exaggerated (breast and hips sliders at 85+), but with an Aeros dangling between her legs. Even with overblown proportions the Maitreya Lara still looks lithe and willowy next to other bodies (even a skinny Freya) which is perfect because I modeled her look after Thai and Vietnamese trans girls. With another alt that I made I just got her the Lucybody Atenea which is like the newbie or broke girl’s substitute to Maitreya Lara because it was a giveaway (and still is last I checked) and surprisingly it works just as fine, BOM compatible too. Contours are not perfect under very close scrutiny but I like calling it “grade A replica”. Months later I ditched it for Belleza Freya because I wanted to experiment with thicker shapes and on an absolutely subjective (maybe narrow) point of view, Freya does curvy and jiggly better than Lara.
  17. That is a relief! I wanted one purely for vanity and photography. The L$5000 prim-baby attachment sounds more cost-effective than making a full-blown baby alt then.
  18. I love those ball jointed dolls by Coco! I have her complete collection ♥️
  19. In my case it is not so much the appearance but what is written on the profile and what groups are visible that influence my decision to initiate contact, and vice versa. I‘ve lived multiple lives on SL and have curated my profile time and again to match the role I was playing at that time and to blend in with communities or subcultures. I do pay compliments whenever I see extremely gorgeous or amusing AVs of any gender, race, or species. As a shapeshifter myself, SL to me is like Wonderland so I love the diverse surrealistic possibility of meeting creatures in every imaginable form. Also, in my experience the most outlandish avatars often have the funniest and most intriguing personalities. I think if you have been on SL since its earlier years you would be less discriminating of how others presented themselves as since the freedom is what brought us in the first place. Half of the time I could not see–or be seen by–everyone due to avatar complexity so I base my interactions on what I perceive from profiles with things like mutual interests, shared groups, or maybe something witty and hilarious that I read on their bio or picks. Conversely, there was a time that I wrote in my RL tab something along the lines of “60 plus truck driver with gasoline breath and grease-laden hair sprouting out of every orifice” and that really elicited many hilarious reactions from strangers that turned into friends and at the same time turned off the WRONG type of men (you know, the kind who persistently demand “RL verified females”) If there is one form of discrimination that I think is acceptable, it is discriminating against creeps and perverts who take things too seriously. Names also have an effect to some degree. When I first joined in 2010 I was too excited to login so I unwittingly settled for a random name: Miu Verlaine. I did not realize that I shared a last name with a French poet associated with the Symbolist movement. Back then I received a lot of IMs and FRs from French and Dutch-speaking people, and people who were into literature would quiz me out of the blue about his work and the Decadents. I was totally oblivious in those days so I ended up learning so much and making a lot of profoundly interesting friends because of my name. I got involved with literary groups, and expanded my book collection in real life. I discovered the likes of Paul-Marie Verlaine and Charles Baudelaire and connected with their fans on SL because of my (now retired) last name. When I rejoined earlier this year I found out that it was now possible to change your name, so I paid for premium and a name that I felt complemented my image. From my end I do not care about others’ names as long as my laptop can read the typeface they wrote it in because almost 90% of the time it is just boxes. TL;DR I care more for the profile than looks or names
  20. Ooh love your look! I am into alternative lifestyles myself. We have very similar interests. Musically I am into J-Rock and Visual Kei for almost half my life, and I am a voracious fan of film noir and yakuza cinema so my appearance on SL reflects that. UTC +9 here if you are online around the same time IM me in-world Yuumo Ichibara ♥️
  21. Same! I ditched my Eurasian-looking duck-faced Catya for LeLutka Ryn when I saw how gorgeous and sublime (wow lol) its male counterpart Kane looked on my husband. It looks close-to-my-RL-face-realistic and well, “Asian” right out of the box leaning toward Japanese and Chinese features. Just a few nips and tucks and you are good to go. You can even slap some Nordic or African skin appliers on top of it and it would still look mixed Asian lol I also have GENUS Strong and Baby Face. Of all the heads I tried and own, with the right skin I find that they lend a very distinct Korean “Gangnam Unnie” impression to faces which is not surprising why many “kawaii” and hallyu-themed brands design skins for them exclusively so buying them is a wise investment to make if you are into more Korean looks. I rarely use them though because the eyes make me look like Linda Blair in The Exorcist trying to pull off an ahegao lol For skins: Before I got mesh-ed, I wore Sayuri by Tuli Asturias for almost a decade. It is the most beautiful and natural Japanese-inspired skin for the classic avatar in my opinion. These days, Bold & Beauty, Boataom, IT Girls, Not Found, and Pepe carry some of my favorite Asian looking skins. For BOM makeup, MUDSKIN is still number one. You can never go wrong with them seriously, and while you are at their store, check out MONSO which is right outside for some hairstyles to polish your look. Another place of interest is **DP**Yumyum which carries all my favorite hairstyles since 2010. Hair also plays a major factor to overall appearance and it could either highlight or downplay ethnic features you are trying to convey. I am going to be frank and tell you upfront that it is not easy to make a passable Asian AV with just the system basics but I say go on a demo spree and really take your time trying out combinations of head / shape + skin + hair until you achieve a look that you can be happy, or at least reasonably content with.
  22. Beautiful! Simple and tastefully done ♥
  23. Have you been to Amatsu Shima? If memory serves me right, I stumbled into some mermaid cave behind a waterfall ...
