  1. I kept my full classic AV and take her out every now and then because I can be such a sentimental cheesecake. I am a huge advocate of mesh-everything, but I also miss the days and experiences that I lived through in pre-mesh and bento SL. Stripping yourself of mesh attachments also offer more practicality when driving long distances because on more than one incident when I crashed while crossing regions all my mesh bits flew off my car and I swear it is not something you would wish to happen even to your worst enemy ...
  2. Hubby and I have played there. Not bad, just that some of the designs look a bit dated for SL. The HUD is nice though.
  3. Rezzed on June 2010 as an alt I planned on role-playing as. My original account was from 2007 but I lost access to it so this became my main AV. I consider her my “eldest child”, and among all the characters I created in the metaverse, she is the one who is the most like me. Looking back, I realized all her behavior and interactions in-world mirrored my evolution in consciousness from being this naive and somber seriously ill-tempered egocentric girl who did not care for the world outside her window to this carefree and light-hearted mature woman who has grown wiser, unusually kinder, at times wary but never weary about life. I spent my early days in SL channeling the constantly denied shadowy facets of my personality playing this coldhearted neo-geisha dominatrix and exotic dancer who dabbled in drugs and all that dark edgy biatchness you only read about in gothic horror and splatterpunk novels. And then RL humbled and skinned my 23-year-old self inside out and as I managed to overcome my depression and other issues, I could no longer identify with my avi and SL. She fell into a “coma” for the next 8 years, waking up only a few months ago when an invisible beast crippled our rights to roam openly under the sky we used to take for granted. In many ways it is like Alice returning to Wonderland through the looking glass. When I first joined I could only speak what instructors classified as B1 or Intermediate English, and while I am in no place to evaluate how proficient I have become over the last 10 years as I am not a native speaker, I would say that SL has greatly enriched my communication skills especially the writing aspect thanks to emoting and para-RP lol Nowadays I am just at home in Bellisseria, streaming music, playing dress-up, tweaking my shape from bag-of-bones XXS to morbidly obese XXL to gimme-a-burger skinny again, going out only to walk my dog, ride my bike around the neighborhood, or go window shopping for themed furniture which will only last until the next Linden home lol ... I rarely socialize or RP in-world because all the clubs and RP communities I enjoyed are no longer in existence but I always welcome brief conversations and very light (even goofy) banter on IM^^
  4. Love everything about your look, and the backdrop is just sooo cute! ♥️ True that my tats sometimes make me look like I am wearing some kind of lace top and leggings and then people realize I am only wearing a cami and shorts lol^^
  5. This is another reason why I cannot get them irl unlike in SL it is just a matter of wearing and un-wearing a layer of textures
  6. Stayed for 3 months at a Log Cabin in Possum Place, less than a month at a Victorian in Overbight, and now a Trad in Smokey. Hoped for one of those houseboats but when I saw them in-world I was like, nevermind ... I think I am pretty content and will be staying here in Smokey for a while until they release a new theme or something.
  7. My AV is inked from neck to toe since 2010. Tattoos have become sooo deeply embedded into her character that she is unrecognizable and feels naked without them, kind of like stepping outside with that retina-scorching red head you get when you mess up your BOM with alpha layers :shudders: From where I come from, tattoos (even girly and cutesy-wutesy ones) are still kinda taboo and many establishments ban you from entering if you have them so they are one of my repressed RL desires that I can only live vicariously through my avatar. I always admired the Suicide Girl aesthete but I can only enjoy that on SL especially now that I have kids and I do not want them to be ostracized because their mom looks like a gangster lol My go-to “parlors” are DAPPA, Vegas, and Garden of Ku. I have bought so many sets from them that I pay compliments to other avis when I spot them wearing familiar styles. In my earlier days, I liked Seven of Himeji. I think some of their works are still available on the marketplace. Tattoos can also cover skintone disparities and that unsightly line between mesh head and body that no neck fixer seem to fix for me.
  8. Guuurrrlll I almost spit out my coffee laughing hahaha ILY
  9. Any interest in a Vic? Letting this one go in a few minutes ... http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Overbight/160/194/35
  10. Letting go of this camper on Possum Place in 5 minutes ... http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Possum%20Place/119/205/38
  11. Japanese here. I have no license or formal teaching experience, but I always love to help foreigners out. Feel free to IM me in-world. By the way, you do not need to speak Japanese in order to teach English here. It is counterintuitive and kind of defeats the purpose when you rewire the learners’ mind back to their native language.
  12. My husband. Originally I made a male alt for RP and photography until three months into quarantine my husband noticed that I was spending more time logged-in on our gaming platform playing “dress-up games”. He thought it was The Sims lol and when I explained everything he thought it was comical and outrageous (which admittedly I do not entirely disagree with 😜) but later on got intrigued, especially when I told him about cars and the driving community on the grid. He enjoys motorsports irl and was lured by the idea that you could purchase and customize luxury models for only $15-20 and so I let him log-in under my former alt account and eventually he enjoyed spending time with me in-world driving, traveling, and diving ... things we enjoy irl but are on-hold due to the pandemic. We could have been touring Europe this year but for now we are content with virtual renditions of Paris, Florence, and Mykonos. Besides him, my brother gave it a try years ago but he was unwilling to invest real money to enjoy SL to the fullest. He likes the concept of the Bellisserian homes though so I sometimes ask him to critique my interiors.
  13. Same. Though I sometimes low-key wish I was born Scandinavian or Nordic irl, every time I tried to make my AV look like she’s from another race, I end up not liking it. There was a phase in my 1st life that I splurged on silly things like hair bleaching and contact lenses to look partly Caucasian, but ironically on SL I spend the same amount in Linden making my AV look unmistakably Asian lol My ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation (staunch heterosexual, but I stylize myself as a gay man trapped in a woman’s body so I made a fem-boi alt for that side of me lol) are the only RL aspects of me that are also consistent in SL. Everything else is just a stark contrast to who I am irl; my AV is baby-faced, petite and disproportionately curvy, plastered with tattoos, wears a lot of outlandish and provocative outfits, smokes 24/7 — I quit years ago in real and abhor second-hand smoke). She also plays dragon lady-esque characters in RP sims that deal with crime, drugs, violence, etc. basically an absolute pixel-deviant. Sometimes I question whether that IS my true persona because I suspect everything we do on SL is a mere projection of our current psychological state blended with everything we secretly wish to experience in the first life but cannot due to obvious limitations...
  14. Nice meeting you earlier and thank you sooooo much for releasing it ♥️ That said, I just let go of my log cabin
  15. This! I already have my Bellessarian home as part of my premium membership and the only reason I spend my 300L weekly stipend on rentals is to live or set up businesses in the RP sims I am actively part of. Each neighborhood has a very distinct atmosphere conducive to the story arcs my character is portraying so I am paying more for the ambiance than privacy or permissions.
  16. There is an active kyabakura that I know of but it is strictly for RL verified Japanese girls and patrons. Painfully exclusive in that they do not accept applications from non-Japanese even those who can speak the language. I believe there should be a hostess (or host) club that is open to foreigners and English speakers as well. Count me in if any of you would like to collaborate as I am also establishing an Asian-themed RP community that revolves around the nightlife industry. I have some kyaba experience IRL if that is relevant.
  17. What is the best animated cigarette for you? Puff puff
  18. I regret that I missed out on Genus because I was away from SL since 2012 and only got back a few weeks ago. My mesh upgrade could have been by Genus and I would absolutely buy one in case they make a miraculous comeback to the market. The heads exude some distinct features that I could easily recognize ( and secretly envious of ) on other AVs especially the Baby Face, which is perfect for “kawaii” or Korean-inspired looks. It’s the face that I want in real life as well but do not have the means to undergo something as extreme and invasive as surgery in Korea to achieve that look so I hoped for my AV to bear that head. I settled for the ubiquitous Catya which was quite flexible in terms of shape and compatibility but for some reason no amount of sliders, skins, or appliers could give rise to those immaculate and delicate contours that Genus Baby Face seems to have from the get-go ( or I am just terrible at tweaking shapes lol ). Now I am considering a move to LeLutka Ryn after buying its male counterpart Kane for my alt, but I am still longing for Genus...
  19. In my ten years of being on and off SL this is the first time for me to create a male alt for an RP sim. My concept is based on Japanese-English actor Will Sharpe, particularly his character in the Netflix series (a must watch IMHO!) Giri/Haji. I know that this will be very costly to start all over as the opposite gender and I have absolutely no idea how to style a guy whether on SL or RL so I need to make wise decisions on what to spend my 10-15k on. Those of you who are experts at creating and styling male AVs, especially those who own realistic Asian male AVs, which parts do you think should I buy to bear a resemblance to him (or another Japanese actor who comes to mind: Kentaro Sakaguchi)? 1. Head: Catwa Dino or LeLutka Kane? I tried both demos and they seem to be somewhat identical, but I am not sure which has more compatibility with skins and such. As you know, demos only give you a glimpse into the possibilities and I still cannot tell whether the sliders can replicate the look I want. 2. Body: I heard that Belleza Jake was the Maitreya Lara for men? Is there a more realistic body that I can easily modify to look tall, lanky, and somewhat androgynous (this character will dress in drag every now and then)? From my observation, most male AVs seem to favor the “hunky daddy in a wife beater” shape which is the total opposite of what I want for my male alt. (on a more NSFW side-note: I am eyeing the uncut Aeros for his ... giggles but feel free to make other recommendations) 3. AO: The last AO I ever bought was from Vista Animations, and it was the Sensual Woman (still the best for my main AV) from 2010. The movement that I want my male alt to portray is shy and mysterious, somewhat awkward, visibly effeminate (his character is openly gay after all) in that “YAS GURL” kinda way and far from the chest-thumping alpha male projections I see on 9/10 gym-fit tattoo-plastered guys on SL. Any suggestions? 4. Skin: Most skins and appliers marketed as “Asian” either look unrealistic or disappointingly Caucasian looking. Tried demos from Stray Dog, quite convinced, but open to better recommendations. I know Mudskin has some nice appliers which I use on my female AV, but they tend to lack realistic features like beards and fine lines and other rugged details I need to make the face masculine and realistic. 5: Hair: No problem in this department as I have already visited stores for men like Dura, but I would like to hear more suggestions. Apologies if I posted in the wrong forum. I appreciate all your advice. Thank you in advance!
