  1. Sounds more like a connection got reset/hiccuped. Odd thing is I got one of those messages this morning when I clicked to go to the next page in a thread, then the page loaded without me having to refresh or do anything. I wouldn't worry about it much unless it starts happening frequently.
  2. Does this mean the OP actually had a point other than being threatened with a sim ban?
  3. Officer: How high are you? Me: No, sir, it's "Hi, how are you?"
  4. While the majority of people in SL do use FS, let's try to avoid being viewer specific please. TPVs tend to have features the official viewer doesn't have.
  5. Ever stop to consider typing "pie menu" just might be one of those habits I spoke of in the OP? No? Didn't think so.
  6. Since clearing cache has been mentioned: https://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/cache How to: https://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_cache_clear
  7. A clean install isn't always the best thing to do. Why do a clean install if the issue with the inventory not loading is due to a problem with connectivity? Doing a clean install isn't going to help that one bit. There is good reason for not doing a clean install right off the bat for just any issue, but I'll let you argue with the support team about it.
  8. Never do a clean install as a first solution. Clean install is a last resort. First thing to do is check Inventory using the LL viewer. If it loads then there are other steps to take. Like clearing Inventory Cache (and only Inventory cache). The link Par posted is the correct link but you do not need to use Method 2 except on the very rare occasion where Inventory has been lost (on your computer) rather than just didn't load fully. The vast majority of the time it is a case of Inventory not fully loading as opposed to items being truly lost. Your Inventory is still in the database and has not been lost by LL. Unless, of course, LL has experienced data loss. Thankfully that is an extremely rare occurence. ETA: If nothing on the wiki page works then the OP should update to the newest release by doing a clean install.
  9. Now that I have the RL stuff out of the way (for now) here are a few I came up with: Always allow your inventory to fully load before teleporting to another location after login. Right click on things (and people) to learn about them and see how things like buildings are put together. Regardless of what you may have read or heard, not everyone is in Second Life for sex. It's not a good idea to start off conversations with “wanna have sex?” nor is it a good way to make friends. Get to know the other person over a period of time that is more than 5 minutes. Relationships don't happen overnight. Don’t feel discouraged if you don’t ‘get it’ right away. You may spend months attaching boxes to your head, distorting your shape, and all manner of other weird and wacky things before you get the hang of how to use and enjoy Second Life. The learning curve is a bit steep and it does take time to get the hang of things. Second Life is a huge playground where you can be what ever strikes your fancy and to build whatever you want. Your only limit is your imagination (and the ToS). You don't have to friend everyone you meet. You can offer your calling card and/or ask for theirs. This shows that you understand there are boundaries, but you would like to keep in touch, and maybe form a more lasting friendship over time. Calling cards can be given by right clicking an avatar and then selecting More from the pie menu then Give Calling Card.
  10. Patience is a virtue that is hard to come by.
  11. I also posted on the old, old, old Skiffy (long before it changed to SyFy) forums for many years and survived.
  12. Yes, I have owned a few forums in the past 20 or so years. That has nothing to do with attempting to keep the thread on topic for at least the first page or two. I've failed in my endeavor for a helpful thread covering the little things most don't even think about anymore that new(er) people may not have encountered yet. Nothing new there.
  13. Frankly, I don't think anyone finds being yelled at helpful. All caps is still considered yelling in text and rude. I don't think that has changed. I didn't ask you to delete it. But I will ask that you, please, use one of the other forms of emphasis that are available and lose the all caps. (Bold, italics, underline, font color.)
  14. The first thought to cross my mind when I read that was Ebbe needs to eat Rod Humble?
  15. Up until the all caps I thought your post was going to have some good techniques (other than relogging) on how to deal with bad sim crossing (like slow down before hitting the crossing). Sorry. I just don't see this as being helpful, which is the point of posting the things you do automatically that others haven't learned about yet. To me, it comes across as being more critical than helpful. Not at all what I had in mind when I started the thread.
