  1. Sounds like one of Tyche's bots. That is precisely what they do, stand at the landing point until it has completed the data collection. They do no harm and provide very useful information for SL residents. If you own the sim and don't want Tyche's bots surveying it, you can always ask nicely for her to exclude your sim. She doesn't mind doing it at all. http://www.gridsurvey.com/ https://www.virtualverse.one/forums/threads/new-sl-regions-in-the-past-week.189/
  2. Who was being petted, the animal or the lover? . . . . . Never mind. Don't answer that.
  3. I think he may have gotten a few too many nasty IMs and possibly is still getting them due to this thread.
  4. People still play and create content for The Sims, The Sims 3, and The Sims 3. Active Worlds (what I consider to be SL's predecessor) is 23 years old and still going. I'm not even an amateur software developer.
  5. There used to be one or two a few years ago. I have no idea if they are still around. I found them by accident so I couldn't tell you the names of the places.
  6. I'm not asking this to be a jerk, I really am interested in knowing why someone like you would take any kind of interest in Second Life? I don't understand the appeal SL would have for someone with the kind of background you say you have. I'm not disputing the background at all. I just want to understand the motivation behind the interest. The tech behind SL, after all, is more than 15 years old.
  7. Why do people do this whenever I ask a question that doesn't require more than a simple yes or no? ETA: It was also a line from one of George Carlin's routines. 😶 The "I used to be Irish Catholic" one.
  8. Dang it. Get out of my head! At least I was going to have lots of little ones... all named Dave.
  9. Can God create a rock so big and heavy that he, himself, can't lift it?
  10. I do occasionally have to use that particular key in a game or two but I never knew it had a specific function other than as a second alt key. I wonder what the GR stands for. oooooooh! Now I know. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AltGr_key
  11. Neat trick! Teach me how to do that! I think you meant "thinking before speaking".
