Sims that ban new people
Selene Gregoire replied to Lexia Moonstone's topic in General Discussion Forum
They won't. People complained it was too much or not enough or this was wrong or that was wrong. Which is what happens every time they change it. It was fine the way it was in 2004/5, it just needed a bit of modernization in the builds. That was all. But noooooo. They had to go and change the whole thing to try to make everyone happy. Which we all know can't be done. ETA: Remembering it, it was one of the most fun, if somewhat frustrating, gauntlets I've ever had to run in a tutorial. -

It was 2005/6. Definitely not after 2009. -

LL already did that years ago. They changed it because people weren't staying any more than they are now. -

Even so your suggestion is going to immediately kill it for most newbies. They will hit that little X, uninstall the viewer and never log in again. You can't restrict people that way and expect them to hang around. -
Marketplace - default items per page
Selene Gregoire replied to Cicely Panthar's topic in General Discussion Forum
That dropdown has never remained at any setting other than 12 in all the years MP has existed in any of the browsers I've used. It always defaults back to 12 after closing the tab/window. And no I don't delete cookies on exit. Never, ever, never. The other dropdown always defaults to Relevance so that's different from Cindy. On Chrome even. All search filters go back to default on exit for me. Always have. -

You do realize that some of those "players" paid for a lifetime membership in 2003 don't you? -
This is what is on my parents' tombstone: I'm not kidding. And that is exactly what they did. I'm still working on it.

I haven't read all of them. Must be one I haven't read because I have no clue what you mean. She (I assume she from the way the name is spelled) is 24, I'll be 60 in a couple of months. That's a fairly large gap that does need to be taken into consideration. For both our sakes, not just mine or hers. I don't want to be the cause of someone's pain and I'd prefer to avoid pain. I've had more than my fair share of it in a lifetime.

Another mistake LL consistently makes. Sweeping it under the rug won't work. Sooner or later someone is going to move the rug to clean under it. The main reason I hear from people who refuse to join SL isn't just the sex part. It's all the times LL has tried to pull a fast one and then tried to sweep it under the rug. People outside of SL do know about these things. Shocked the hell out of me to find out that they knew. They don't join because they don't want to have to put up with LL's ... cackhanded way of doing things.

Hi Nicci! Welcome to my world! I'd offer you friendship but I'm afraid, in the long run, the differences in our RL ages will eventually cause a fallout. Hopefully it will help, at least a little, to know that you are not alone and if you need someone to listen, I'm here.

Thereby avoiding any and all responsibility for their actions. Typical LL. And there are those who wonder why others don't trust LL with personal info. Kind of a no brainer.

Its amazing how strong SL seems to be!?
Selene Gregoire replied to Zed Avedon's topic in General Discussion Forum
There really is only one reason I post on the forums. I have no one to talk to inworld. There are maybe 2 people on my reduced list of around 30* that still log in but I never hear from them and one of them is my RL other half. The rest apparently either abandoned those accounts or just stopped logging in. So yep, I spend all my time in world either building stuff no one will ever buy or combing the MP for things I'd like to get for build ideas I have but will never be able to afford or making half assed attempts at cleaning up my inventory. That's what happens when the world gives you the cold shoulder from the moment you are born. *Yes, I'm foolish enough to keep hoping that someday they will log in again or I keep them on my list as a memorial. ETA: I should mention that 4 of those on my contacts are my alts. -

If this is true then how do you explain me still being here? I can't always be the only "exception to the rule". -
What residents call one thing isn't necessarily what the Lindens call the same thing. As long as I have been in SL cashing out has always meant taking real USD out of your USD Second Life account, by transferring it to another institution that handles financial transactions but are not considered banks (PayPal). LL has never transferred funds to a bank (checking/savings) account to my knowledge. What is throwing people is the term 'process credit' which normally refers to credit card transactions. LL needs to rethink the term they are using because that is what is causing the confusion. People think they mean credit card transactions, not withdrawing USD from SL.

What are some of your pet peeves?
Selene Gregoire replied to Ivy Mysterious's topic in General Discussion Forum
Who you callin a dog... parasite. ETA: Maybe I better clarify before someone gets all bent out of shape. Dog = werewolf, Parasite = vampire. Sort of an old running joke among some RPers. There are other 'nicknames' for vamps but for werewolves it's almost always dog. So, I'm just poking fun back at Orwar. -
Estates base their rates on the amount of land you are getting/using the same as LL does for mainland. The only difference is you can pay your estate rent in Ls, where you can't pay LL your rent in Ls. Estate owners then have to convert those Ls paid in by renters to USD to pay the tier to LL. Basically, estate owners do the grunt paper work for the renters, where premium mainland has to do it for themselves. Thus the term "middleman". The amount of land you get is the tier, not the amount of Ls or USD that you pay for the land. The land is the tier, the tier is the land, based on size. Note that tier or land use fees are based on parcel size. Estate owners use the same parcel size determined tiers that LL uses. ETA: https://secondlife.com/land/pricing.php

Key words being "so far". They can't keep ducking and covering forever. Sooner or later it will catch up.

It would cut into the board of directors pockets. And Ebbe's. That is the real reason. Greed. And they will never admit to it.

I've been asking that question for over a decade. LL never gives an answer.
