Last Names Still No ETA
Selene Gregoire replied to Daniel Voyager's topic in General Discussion Forum
Still on page 2 and still can't use vids without CC, so here's my 2 cents while I catch up... if i catch up. This is a situation of LL needing to fix something that wasn't broken, breaking it to put in something that was an error in judgment, and now needing to fix the mess they created. They need to reinvent the old first and last name signups to replace the code that has been added since the original signups were ripped out. Then offer it to new accounts going forward. Accounts with the last name 'Resident' should be allowed to change to the new name format, without charge, once. And only once. There doesn't need to be a feature that allows people to change user names "at will". We already have that feature with display names. No need to be redundant and choke things up with more code when we have long term issues that haven't been fully resolved. Patches are great and very welcome but they are not permanent fixes, inasmuch as there can be a 'permanent' fix for SL. -

The "World of Fashion" in SL operates the same way the "World of Fashion" operates in RL.

Unable to pay the Linden assesment.

Your guess is as good as ours. It can take any where from a few hours (phone is faster) to a few months. Sometimes you have to go over someone's head to get any thing done. She needs to follow up with Billing. And keep following up until the issue is resolved. -
Amazing how many of the avs in that resemble their human counter parts quite closely. Kinda pulls the plug on what someone said the other day about no one looking like their avatar.

The kilt lifting will stop about the same time as the braid grabbing stops. Yes, there are those who will still do that. Mostly white women grabbing men's braids. The guys don't like it. So I imagine the wolf whistles, leering and "obscene" gestures made towards women will stop about the same time. In other words, it will stop when everyone starts having some compassion for, rather then de-humanizing, those who are not like them.

One of the reasons I'd like to withdraw from that petition is because I didn't realize I was logged in with my RL name until it was too late. So some of those names could very well be real names and not avatar names. -
What would YOU do if you were Linden Lab?

Looks more like an electronic device to me that you just happen to be able to play games on. Anyone up for a game of hangman on a calculator? -

What is best for a company isn't always what is best for the customers. And vice versa. -

Not a list per se but you can see some of the names by expanding the comments. Not sure if it will let you go through all of them. Having never started an online petition, I don't know if it is an option that can be enabled or not. Or maybe you just have to be logged in. I'm wondering if I can unsign it now so I can go back to slinking in the dark corners. -

Not sure what numbers have to do with showing support, unless you are talking about percentages as in what percent of signors are creators and what percentage are supporters. As a past creator and an almost returning one, yes, I did sign the damn thing before I had read it word for word. But after reading this thread? I'll never sign another petition again. Regardless of its purpose and whether or not I support the people behind it. -

Is there some reason I'm not aware of that non creators can't show their support for creators by signing a petition? -

I'll let you argue that with Philip Rosedale since he is the one that made that determination. -

@Whirly Fizzle posted a link to the petition in another thread a week or two ago, if not longer. Didn't seem to get much of a response, if any, at the time. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
