  1. The metaverse in Snow Crash was a single platform that pretty much everyone used. Graphically it was very simplistic and limited compared to SL. Avatar customization was difficult and expensive, but it allowed a grey market commerce between virtual reality and physical reality. The metaverse in Ready Player One was more like SL in many ways (not surprising since it was inspired by SL), and was also used by pretty much everyone. It had semi-closed regions for education and a multitude of game, entertainment and social regions. Avatar customization was similarly easy and diverse as in SL, but fantastic ones were favored over realistic ones in the movie. It also allowed commerce between RL and virtual reality.
  2. Type "invisi" in inventory search. Then delete everything that shows up. - Save favorite old shoes if you wish. Delete the separate invisiprim and use an alpha cut or layer instead. (I still keep a favorite pair of sculpted "Barnacle Heels", even though I'll never wear them.)
  3. Good food makes me happy - real food, not artificial sugar (although I'm a sucker for artificially brightly colored foods once in a while). Unless your diabetic, there's nothing wrong with eating some real sugar. Real premium ice cream tastes so much better. (You cannot call Baskin Robin's premium.) Personally, I'm not that fond of carbonated sugar water. I prefer a still, naturally flavored water or herb tea, but that's just me. I love this one brand of sugared dried mangos I've been eating like candy even better than dark chocolate though. I also like some pumpkin spice donuts or Walmart apple fritters with cold lowfat milk. My point is eat what makes you happy, as long as you're getting a balanced diet overall.
  4. The problem with asigning metadata to user-created objects is that most creators can't be counted on to take an extra step properly. Most clothing creators don't even bother to set an appropriate attachment point for mesh clothes. Maybe SL could attach metadata to distinguish prim, sculpt and mesh objects with different icons, but even this feature would have limited usefulness.
  5. You can use the clothing folder for any kind of clothes. The system doesn't care what you put in most of the system folders. The only ones that act differently are Lost and Found, Trash, Favorites (for Landmarks), Favorite Wearables (special tab in Firestorm), Received, and the Firestorm folder (for the bridge, AO and certain RLV wearables). The Create New functions don't care which system folder you're in either (exceptions noted above in some cases).
  6. Here's another pretty area in Redbranch Hollow with new 2048 m Ranch Homes available.
  7. There's a lovely area in Jakelope with some new 2048 m Ranch Homes available.
  8. Jakelope - Posted to wrong thread.
  9. True, but I've also met people who don't know how to use a map. It probably wouldn't take long to teach them, if they were interested in learning how to use such an ancient and incredibly complicated device.
  10. Contacting the owner of a low skybox with a polite reminder of the Belli Covenant may work faster than ARing it. The last time I reported 3, 2 of the people said thank-you for letting them know. The 3rd needed a little help to learn how to move their skybox, and after I helped her she gave me $L 500.
  11. Double check your trash before emptying it. I've lost items in SL. Probably most of us have. I lost a No Copy ancient-style wash basin I loved because of a sim restart. I lost my whole folder of shoes because I had too much inventory and a bunch of stuff went missing. I lost some older skins I wish I had now because I was getting rid of most of my old system skins. (I didn't know they would work with the Jian Petit avatar I later bought.) 😫 We have to accept loss in SL and RL because it's inevitable. One day all of Second Life will be gone too.
  12. Some people have more difficulty learning new things than others do. It's not all older people or all younger people. It's just people. Keeping one's mind active and working to learn new things helps. Getting enough sleep helps. Maybe some nutritional supplements might help. I've already given advice on how to clean up one's inventory in other threads. Basically, use the filters to mass delete scripts, landmarks and other crap you don't need. Put your folders into your System folders and appropriate subfolders. Use symbols such as * and ! at the front of your folder title names to move your favorite items to the top. Keep the packages inside the folders for the items, and then delete all the sizes, skin tones, old sculpts or other items you're never going to use. Trying to find stuff in a chaotic inventory is more stressful than mass deleting stuff.
  13. An actual news clip from yesterday. Note how this weather guy refers to the Lake Berryessa spillway.
  14. I was wondering today if SNL has ever done a skit with someone passing gas in a public sauna. p.s. I wouldn't be surprised if Rosanne Rosanna-Danna had mentioned that in one of her stories. p.p.s I found the sauna story, but it's not about someone passing gas.
  15. I can imagine the bladder saying it really needs to pee. "Where is the restroom in this store?"
  16. In any other game or platform using objects (such as weapons or spellbooks) and dressing one's avatar would be part of using the inventory, wouldn't it?
  17. I knew a guy in SL who made his avatar look a little gothy with the expectation that women wouldn't bother him. He just got attention from all the gothy women.
  18. Yes, it is complicated, but we're used to it, so it doesn't seem that difficult to us. It's kind of like knowing how to drive a car. There are all different kinds of cars. Some are automatic drive. Some are stick-shift. Some have automatic window controls. Some have crank handles for the windows. Some have the fuel inlet on the right. Some have it on the left. Some use diesel fuel, some use petrol, some can use petrol with grain alcohol in it, some can run on used fryer oil, some can run on an electric battery, some can only run with an electric battery. All these differences don't even take into account where all the controls are, what kind of tires the car might use, how to adjust the mirrors, and how it feels when you're driving it. Once you've been driving your own car for awhile, these things become second nature (like one's viewer of choice or their favorite mesh body), but if you get a new car or need to drive someone else's, it takes a little while to get comfortable again.
  19. Lelutka has a big selection of heads. Go pick some demos that look similar to your Catwa head. Post a picture of your current head if you'd like more detailed advice from the forum.
  20. Why would you complain about a post that is a month old and that neither you nor anyone else had responded to?
  21. Reborn does not. Legacy has Legacy Male and Legacy Athletic for male avatars.
  22. Copying and sharing private IMs or RL information inworld, on the forums, or on any platform controled by Linden Lab is a violation of the TOS. Discussing someone, using their SL name and information they've revealed publically in SL (such as in group chat) is not against the rules.
