  1. Yep, on rare occasion the cache can develop the odd issue and needs to be cleared - it's dependent on the user system/settings on when, mind. The sort of issue you'd described happens - to some degree and rather rarely - when I go teleporting to a club I frequent. Sometimes whole sections do not visibly load and I have to teleport out and come back to force them back in (the Wireframe trick touted earlier in this thread does nothing for me and never has - invisible but obviously rezzed objects will not appear until I leave and come back).
  2. Tari, there's no point in going back and forth with the OP on anything as they always pull what you're experiencing here (and worse). Heaven forbid you accuse them of being wrong about something (as they are about the Object Owners section in About Land). As far as the technical issues are concerned, you're mostly right in that many of them predate the Uplift with a tiny fraction being made worse. Hopefully they get better as bugs are squashed.
  3. Was it? Yes, with quite the limitation on Draw Distance, general scene quality and such.
  4. If you're looking to play an online radio station you don't need to go quite that far, just plugging the station URL into the Audio stream will work. Now if you want to be able to do Youtube and such ... You'll need to find a TV that doesn't use MOAP - though such older models require a few extra steps for setup.
  5. That's ... Not at all what I am seeing, right this minute: Brave browser, no extra text appears even when at default zoom levels. Unless the default, brighter theme has been altered without the forum built in dark theme being changed ...
  6. Congrats Kjartan, you've managed to encounter one of the biggest issues with some TPV devs: Their attitudes, especially where their own projects/personal beliefs are concerned.
  7. Um .... What new format? And no slowdowns that I've noticed.
  8. What you are hearing is not sound or normal media. Below are the control panels (as seen in FS but not much is different in other Viewers) for the Parcel Media and Sound. Note the wording of the Sound Restriction checkbox - this is phrased the way it is because neither the Media or Sound streams set in the About Parcel dialog can spill over into other Parcels. The following however - Media On A Prim - can spill over and should be avoided when wanting to have individual parcels to have their own Audio or Media streams. There is no way to restrict MOAP to a singular Parcel.
  9. A correction to the above - enabling Occlusion, not disabling it. It is disabled by default in the current version of Firestorm (and the official Viewer).
  10. Personally I'd prefer edits being done on most as opposed to out and out removal/deletion of a post. Especially since the latter is accompanied by a message saying it was removed and no copy whatsoever of the post made/given to facilitate edits for reposting. More than once, I've just shrugged/thrown my hands in the air in exasperation.
  11. Moderated a forum once upon a time ... Adminned another. Neither exists anymore but yeah ... I will say that altering/editing threads to mask/change problematic language is understandable but from what I've seen (and experienced first hand here) I do not know if the Mods here can actually directly edit user posts. If so, that'd go a long way to explaining a few things ...
  12. Leaving a locked thread in place is not a "reward" - it is a warning and frankly stands as a record of the behavior that got it locked (if the thread is unedited).
  13. On top of "Advisor" (and other ranks/roles outside of the Moderation/Administration) being rather meaningless.
  14. Account Settings (here in the Forum) -> Edit Profile It'll be on the right.
  15. There is no need to have different labeled levels of friend/contact within the main list itself. we have Contact Sets (in TPVs for certain, not sure about the LL Viewer) on top of permissions that can be set. Just met someone and accepted their request? Leave the default of being able to see you Online, on. Gotten friendlier with them? Allow them to see your location. The final permission should be reserved for those you absolutely trust (among other circumstances).
  16. There is no need to go into Debug settings. It is right in the normal Preferences selections. It was also quite covered in varied places as a potential solution/performance booster.
  17. That particular slider sets the minimum (lsmallest) amount of VRAM that the Viewer reserves for the Texture buffer and the other two sliders set a percentage point of additional VRAM to be reserved. Say for example, you have a card with eight gigabytes of VRAM: You'd be fairly safe in setting that slider anywhere between 2048 and 4096 (bearing in mind that such is a minimum) and between the default ten percent Additional Texture Memory Cache Reserve to - perhaps - twenty five to fifty percent (meaning that at the most you're dedicating over six gigabytes of VRAM to just the textures). The final slider should be kept sane as well while remembering that it is also allocating a percentage of your VRAM to other Viewer processes. Using my own setup as an example here: I have an nVidia GTX 980 TI with six gigabytes of VRAM. I also tend to use other applications while on Second Life. I have that slider set to 3,072 (three gigabytes) of VRAM for the minimum. Ten percent additional TMC reserve and the final slider set to ten percent as well. In total I am dedicating about three point six gigabytes of VRAM to Second Life (according to the Viewer settings anyway). The rest is free to be used by all other applications. And it works well enough! The settings you - or another user - might have will certainly be different as only you know what your general use case is when using Second Life. If you don't do much else, you could easily enough get away with dedicating that 4096 as a minimum. Personally I'd not go too hogwild with the percentage sliders and would avoid setting either above fifteen percent. Play around, see what works best for you.
  18. .... You have an 8GB GPU and have the Dynamic Texture Memory set to 512 MB, why? I'd set that to at least 2048 ....
  19. Huh, didn't know you could reorder things that way. Handy.
  20. Some time ago I discovered that an item or two from my inventory (that were regularly worn mind you) had somehow ended up in the trash. Amusingly, I'd never suspected that odd move because the items in question still attached normally.
  21. The PM system is part of the forum itself. I'd honestly rather users that have issues with each other take those issues to PM but even I know that's wishful thinking - hence why I often don't bother with it or simply don't bother to write a response post.
  22. Oh would you look at that .... A spin site pretending to be news!
  23. The Grid Status page doesn't look any different in formatting to me. Thanks for the heads up though! ETA: Are ... are people really missing the "Incident History" link at the bottom of the Grid Status page ... ?
