  1. Best Christmas song ever. RIP Shane McGowan. (And of course, Kirsty too.)
  2. I wasn't being premature. The new doors are absolutely life-changing, double-glazed, draught-proofed, more secure, but easier for my disabled brother to handle so will help him maintain some independence, and in a calm beautiful porcelain blue colour, instead of the aggressive in-your-face red that used to put me into an instant bad mood whenever I returned to his house. Win win win win win
  3. I might be being a little premature here, but my pet delight is that I received a phone call this afternoon to say the new doors I ordered for my brother's house are finally ready (after 6 weeks of waiting) and can be installed tomorrow. This may sound ridiculous to those who have always had decent doors, but this is going to be life changing and could not be timed better, as tomorrow is the last sunny weather day before sleet and snow are forecast for Thursday, and minus temperatures thereafter. This winter will be just a little bit cosier.
  4. Crikey, what an illusion. Looks like love to me! Unless in the next shot that fingernail draws blood!!
  5. Very artistic. Really reminds me of how I used to flip through the posters in my local Athena store and would love pictures that looked like this, colourful and surreal.
  6. This is the funniest thing I've seen in ages - it should be on the Make Us Laugh thread too. (I truly cannot stop laughing - I am going to have to go and see what else gets suggested to me on Youtube now.) Thanks.
  7. Ooooo I fancy a fancier Baileys. It's just the plain one, but very nice. Cheers!
  8. I think 11 years is a good innings. My HP is currently that, bought it in November 2012. (It'll probably conk out now I've said that - but it's insured for replacement if can't be repaired so I'm not too worried.) A bit grrrhhh! about the screen hinge issue. My brother worked in electronics, TVs particularly, said different models had stock faults (like cars do!).
  9. Annual tipple of choice (Baileys Irish Cream) on a good (better than half price) offer from one of the major supermarkets. *Hic* (I don't drink ... but ... one little glass won't hurt ... bottoms up! *hic*)
  10. Peeve: Dell p1ssed me off so much with their poor after-sales service, I never want to have to deal with them again. I guess, as they are a popular choice, I must have dropped unlucky and purchased a "Friday afternoon special", because it was nothing but a liability. Pet delight: HP for me all the way. My laptop is old and crumbling (literally), but has only had to be into the menders once in the 12 years I've had it. Can no longer access Second Life, as graphics is pretty much b*ggered, but it still does enough of other stuff portably for me. HP keyboards suit my manic fingers, and HP mouse lasted longer than all my other mousees put together.
  11. Talking private parts too. One of my earliest memories in Second Life was renting an apartment in a G-rated area, and the girlie in the flat below mine had a talking cl i toris. I was more amused than offended by it, but I didn't see the need for it to talk at all.
  12. Truly shocking. And something I would do if it were my very last day working for Linden Lab. I'd put in a "bug" to make everyone have one eye or tiny hands or a tail they couldn't detach. Sorry I have no practical help to offer.
  13. Dark Victory, starring Bette Davis (and is that Ronald Reagan I just saw?). Yesterday I watched my other Bette Davis favourite, Now, Voyager. On BBC last week, on BBC iPlayer for the month. I have seen both films many MANY times, but only truly watching them now. Every frame, every tiny detail registering. What an absolute treat.
  14. Cute email from Linden Lab. Thanks for remembering. 🎵Happy Rez Day to Meeeeee🎵
  15. It certainly looks like a parody now, but back in her day, Fanny Cradock was incredibly serious about her cooking. She was brutal and quite scary. The green stuff was, believe it or not, piped mashed potato! In another video she makes this really hideous dish that looks like a basic omelette that's only half-cooked, into which she slops (sweet) mincemeat, and then liberally sprinkles icing sugar over the top. Sets my teeth on edge.
  16. I relive the nightmares every single day, because I cook for my disabled brother, and he still has the exact same cooker that you see in that video! (No wonder I dislike cooking so much.) 😆🦀
  17. For the past two Christmasses, after 18 years of cooking piles of meat for Christmas dinners that my brother neither celebrates nor appreciates, I cooked lasagne (and not from scratch either). Best Christmasses I've had in ages. And plenty of advocaat. Peeve: being chained to the kitchen as chief cook and bottle washer during any celebrations.
  18. Look on Second Life Marketplace for skeleton avatar. Quite a selection comes up, one or two have a selection of skulls to choose from.
