I have long wondered if this is why one of the popular mesh heads includes a very graphically complex laggy mesh brain on the inside...

It's not functional, and it is sized for a mouse, not a man... Somebody needs to break out a scaling prim and measure things before they put them on a release version... It's not bento either... it's old tech. It was a good idea - but done wrong. A built in male part really only became a good idea AFTER bento came out. So the guys could have a choice about that mouse issue...

That thing is also super laggy. It has something like 5-billion avatar complexity and a 3-ton pack of scripts. There are some newer bento male parts out now though (been seeing one monthly of late at the Kinky event that is a bento male attachment), so hopefully they will take over, or Aeros will switch to bento rather than using 507 different mesh options and scripts to toggle their visibility and scale... I don't know why... but I find male bodies and bits seem to have gone through NONE of the streamlining for better graphics and script optimization that female parts have. Male stuff in SL is about where female stuff was in 2012... laggy, overscripted, and using the worst methods for mesh.

Attached mesh set to 100% transparent will still cause the alpha glitch because that forces 'blended transparent' even though it's 100%... I think it might also sometimes factor in to avatar complexity cost. Putting the 'default transparency texture' on the same surface, and setting it to 'alpha map' instead of blended, with the alpha map number of 255 - THAT will completely hide it from alpha glitches AND hides the 'transparency texture' from the complexity formula.

Did someone just covertly summon the elderitch being known as 'M. Linden' all up in this place? Do we need to get Constantine in here to banish that beast back to the dimension from whence it came? 😨

Once you've approved the experience though - if it's moving you around the same sim the loading screen can flash by very fast. You will know it told you, but not have time to read the details. And it looks like a teleport to another sim. Is OP sure the new location was to a different sim? I don't know of anything but RLV that can do that to you unprompted. And it's not that common to find someone who has managed to turn on RLV in a TPV AND wear an RLV device AND assign a 'master' without knowing they did it (plus the subject line of this thread strongly hints that it's not RLV... )

It's working for me now on this alt that is 7 years old, in Firestorm 6.0.1 What I found with another alt is that if I ever set home, I can never again unset it - and lose the random aspect. Maybe new accounts are getting Home set for them now?

If you don't have a home set you go a random info hub everytime you hit home. I have a very old alt I have never set a home for precisely for days when I feel a desire to 'random' about... You can be forced teleported within the same sim by either a prim, a landowner ejecting or orbiting you, or an 'experience' you consented to interact with. (newer RP sims use the experience system to add things like 'underground complexes' by having you walk to a spot that then moves you to a cave system they've hidden in the sky. And of course lots of other similar concept.)

What happens if you're a guy using the slink male body where the prop is built in, and only turns "100% transparent" when you hide it...? It'd be interesting to observe the argument between that poor guy and these folks...

I'm wearing the Janet in my image on the forums here. And most of my more recent images... elsewhere (NSW)... I have angled the eyes a bit for a 'sharp catty look' as a Neko. That's not default. Though the shape is my own and not the one any of her heads come with. I found that, with every mesh brand I tried, I had to change the lower jaw a lot. Either my old classic shape had a serious underbite I never noticed, or all these mesh heads have a very small chin... And Mayreal was about 1.5 times smaller in the chin than other brands - but once I dialed that out it just popped into a refined version of my old classic head, and then I noticed I could add specific desired features like more prominent lips, without getting cartoony.

This is why I bought my mesh head from Mayreal MORE quality than the tops brands. 1700-1999L in price head depending. But... more complicated HUD you have to spend time figuring out. Basically she crams 1,000,001 things onto a single panel small HUD. You have to click this to enter that mode, then click that to select what, then this for how, and that for do... She could use a new UI/HUD designer... but her mesh heads are the BEST. And the Janet is the ONLY head I have found that does good African and Latina shapes... While I use another for an Asian alt. Just like other brands they're all base designed 'Caucasian looking'... (/sigh... There is an African head from Angel Rock but I didn't like the looks it gave me, they looked exaggerated, but maybe if I spent more time with it), but these adapted very easily to other looks.

Somewhere in my inventory I have a yellow glowing exclamation point that I can wear over my head. Great to wear in xxx-clubs or at OOC events for RP communities. I think I actually have that 'like' attachment too... found it years back and ran around with it for a bit in jest.

Hah... Yeah I guess I've let on that I'm not exactly a fan of FB... 😉 What I am enjoying seeing lately is the Valley (SIlicon Valley) is also starting to be fed up with them. That said every single last time I drive by their HQ... there's this giant sign out front of (oddly not sure if I remember this right) the like button, and it always has tourists standing in front of it to get a picture... so somebody is still on the bandwagon.

Somewhere at LLs there is a guy waddling around the office and wondering what the problem is... Pretty much the same list, plus: Texture stretching. Like you wanted this great texture on the face here, but it applied the same texture to the side face there, which is stretched or squished... Prims not lining up... If I can see through cracks in the walls of your build... my OCD just can't handle it. Guys who's bits are not a matching color. Guys who's bits remain 'limp' while 'in use'... People who have such high complexity scores that all I see is a colored blob. People with t-rex arms or 'wide load' butts making fun of anyone else's avatar... because... mirror... People who walk around with their feet in 'heels' pose while barefoot. Those bare jewelry for feet that come in a heels pose, when that kind of footwear is only logical for flat. People that wear a lighthouse on their nose so they can find their way to shore or something...? Nudist venues that are 'strickly 100% human only' and then tell me I can just snip off my tail... Like... as long as we're snipping things that dangle between legs... Places that put something in the search advert, only you get there and a notecard arrives saying that is not allowed. I'm looking at all those RP places that use words like 'neko' or nude' or whatever... Seeing the hands on my avatar splay out because I hit on a non-bento animation and for some reason the last bento anim that had posed my hands has stopped. Being in a XXX place 'on the furniture' and some bloke is wasting my time with interview questions like he's applying for a job and I just want my avatar-porn because hey... that's why I went there. 🤓 Being in my SL home minding my own business when I start getting the 'hey baby' IMs... Being in my SL home minding my own business when some bloke starts clicking on me or trying to pose me... or give me a job interview... People who put prim land on top of water in water sims. Like... why did you spend L$40,000,000 for a 256m plot on Blake Sea only to cover up the water? That's like buying a fancy new car and then removing the wheels and engine... People who sell ANYTHING as Maitreya exclusive, or Catwa / Letuka exclusive. Ya'll ain't never heard of Belleza or Omega? Especially if it's outfits that expose the body underneath a lot.

I have a millionaire friend in RL who paid I think $4 million to have a home within walking distance of a Bukake Bar... ok... well... lives in San Francisco in SOMA, I don't think the bar was the selling point, and is actually a porn shop with 'cinema rooms', but it did come with the purchase and their children get to see it everytime they look out the window. And I'm like... "I'll stay over here in the "ghetto" if that's what rich people hoods look like." So... that actually -sort of- IS a thing... 😲 Now... when I moved to Zindra when it first opened... yeah it was a mess of tacky porn builds. As in... not even the quality porn, but the folks who couldn't even line up the walls of a building to touch or be at proper angles (*)... But Marketplace has left 'inworld shopping' to mostly either the places wanting to create brand identity or the malls of accounts that haven't logged in for years... And when all that cleared out - people who wanted to make builds that were "their thing" mostly took up the vacancies. Nowadays you can explore Zindra and easily come away either fascinated, disgusted, or both - depending on where you choose to focus. * That's OCD for you... I can deal with porn and giant prim anatomy... but if you can't line up the angles and put stuff on the coordinates... it's freak out time.

I'm half convinced that the next time Zuckerbaby leaves this client state of the Soviet Union (USA) and travels to the free world (EU) they're going to arrest him and throw the entire book of EU laws at him, from cover to cover... heck they will probably write some new laws while he is on the plane just to be sure about it... As Kara Swisher of the Recode Media podcast notes pretty much weekly... you have a guy with absolutely zero training in the humanities running the largest social sciences experiment in human history... and thinking that because he dropped out of college but lives on top of a dragon's hoard, he knows what the heck he's doing... That whole thing is one massive hive of scum and villainy... If you could wire a monkey to a machine that slapped them in the face everytime they smashed a red button, but dripped a drop of meth into their system at the same time... it would be called Facebook.

Aesthetics: I live on a double prim land sim in Zindra with exactly 5 parcels on it, and I have the big one (but it's actually small). Basically the sim is wide open with roads, river, and even a bridge. When my neighbors last sold lots the cheaper one went for 200,000, and I think is a 1024 plot. Personally I think in the Aesthetics department I won the Zindra lottery. Got it super cheap too (got it in a swap, but the original price was 30,000). Community: The downside. 3 of the neighbors are completely quiet. 2 I think are somewhat absent actually. The last, number 4, runs some kind of RLV bondage shop / adventure spot that is chock full of temp-rezzed prims. As in when I turn that on in the minimap the whole plot just spams them flickering in and out in the dozens to hundreds... The avatars that tend to visit that place tend to be extremely high on script time usage (often over 1ms)... and we've got drama over this as my lag meter was spamming them to cut it out until recently... Their plot is also all prims and sculpties. Mostly pre-mesh, as is their avatar. Probably why the place needs temp-rezzers... and I suspect that is they're holding onto one old tech, they might be holding on to others, as in using older scripts - this might explain why their stuff always spikes the lag when people use it. Amenities/Infrastructure - Yeah, protected road, protected river, protected bridge, and a small protected park. Oh, also a protected dam that you can go inside of to find some hidden monsters and such... The moles did a great job with the place. This is also a part of Zindra where the road is NOT on the sim border, so you can drive it without needing that wall in the middle that protects against sim crossings. Basically a very easy to drive on roadway that goes on for many sims beyond here. Neighborhood - It's Zindra... so basically porn everywhere, and the odd violence themed build. A few sims down you get into a gender-bending clubs and such, a few sims further the Zindra downtown that was one full of tacky shops but MarketPlace has cleaned most of that up. Basically Zindra these days is pretty nice, and you can run around naked or even 'bounce on the poseballs' right out on the road if so desired. These days Zindra has a lot of small very posh spots if you explore around. There is still some tacky stuff... but not that much. Cost of Living - mainland tier on a 2432m plot. So not much. Got it from someone who got it for 30,000L. The plot I traded had cost me maybe 36,000L and was also a double prim Zindra lot elsewhere. Safety/Security - It's mainland so no... Anytime a neighbor turns on rezzing and forgets to turn on auto-return we have to call in the AR-patrol squads. But it's actually been a long time since that happened. In theory the lace is easy to grief. But also easy to clean up from griefers... I own the land so I can do anything with access. But I don't own the protected land around it or the other 4 plots... Griefers though - they're really only effective against people that are afraid of them. They're about psyching you out. If you're patient you can just get the Lindens to remove bad actors after a bit of time and block people who bug you... I think griefers have moved on from a lot of Zindra as these are low activity residential sims. What's the fun in griefing a spot if in the course of a whole week only 3 people will be effected, and 1 of those has good odds of not even logging in for the whole lifespan of your efforts... Freedom of Movement - It's mainland so I'd wager it has the second highest rating possible for this. I'd give the highest to that area between mainland and estate where Blake Sea falls. So basically, mainland is only beat by a specific niche of mainland where it cooperated with estates.

I always assumed all child avatars were being run by middle aged women sipping coffee in a house with too many cats and those nice fuzzy slippers... Kinda like how the bigger and beefier the muscles on a guy avatar, the younger I tend to assume the person behind the keyboard is. Or if it's a naked blond with no AO. But only if it lacks the AO... and approaches you and does that head up and down animation... - that's a kid. 😎

I need to read the context... But it's been my experience that as public random nudity in SL has become less common, the place has become less popular. To boost things around here, we need to get more naked people. Well... at least if the guys can finally figure out how to match skin tone with their prop...😋 That said, I remain unconvinced about the decline of SL. My population meter on my land hasn't been going down at all and is more or less the same these days as it was 8 years ago. There was a big dip about a decade ago when the world outside realized this place wasn't a get-rich-quick-scheme... and that 'a house in virtual land' was really the same thing as a house for your MMO character or tomogachi pet... But after that things seem to have stabilized... the same people are arguing that SL is dying as were arguing that SL is already dead back in 2011... It's like we're on the corner with an 'The end is Nigh' placard... and we've penciled in 'nigher', and the scratched that out and drawn 'soonish' above it, but put a line through that and added 'kinda coming'. Discussions about how SL is failing remind me of the scene in Futurama where Fry encounters a protest stand advocating for legalizing marijuana... a thousand years later... still going... except that one's actually happening now. But the joke is still funny.

The maturity policy has been confusing the heck of me for the past few years. It seems to get tweaked every so often with narry a peep about the changes. If nude photos are not allowed on M, I also wonder about nudes of avatars? For many years there was a mall on a water sim that faced a G rated lake. On the sim border, on the M side, they had placed nude images facing out to the G side. Basically skins or posters for sale - I forget. AR'd it, was still there a year after... so... ok... For years after the 'A' policy came out most nude beaches in SL were M land. The largest (I think) nudist resort in SL is still M land... - However I've noticed most of them have shifted to A, or... my search filters have... My last read of the policy implied I shouldn't just be walking around nude on M, yet that it's ok to be nude. Do I just have to stand still? Last time I read it was about a year ago though... I've largely abandoned M land where I can - it's just too confusing. G is at least clear in what the rules are. - When I go to M land it's either to known places, short visits, or I just wear a ful body alpha texture and no attachments... sometimes I put something on... Basically what I do is as confusing and moody as the policy itself... I have no idea until my fingers are hovering over the TP button...

That you can even consider that an offensive thing to note... that you can consider me 'racist' for noticing this... is baffling. Me simply being in my skin and my ethnicity as myself does not make me anti-white. It is sad that you cannot see this. Not that you will understand it... but I am not bothered by Caucasians at all. Yep. What is happening is a LOT of people have a few dozen to hundreds of meters of tier left over after rounding things off. So they donate it to land baron groups for, usually, a very tiny payment in return. If this system was broken up - if we could convince people NOT to do this, the land barons would fade away.
