  1. I won't say you are... but that comment came about in DIRECT RESPONSE to the 'Kardadshian' and 'watermelon' (a bit of racism thrown into here just for good measure eh?) comment. Let's be clear on where this thread went from civil opinions to nasty... it wasn't you, it ALSO wasn't anyone on the Belleza side... It was a specific person above you that mentioned Kim Kardashian. Let's just get back to civilly promoting our favorites, sometimes a little strongly, but without being mean - even if we do say rather extreme comments about some of the body's design choices, keep it away from the hostile at people and their choices. ***** I happen to feel Belleza handles the full range of shapes better. I feel very strongly about that. Clearly not everyone agrees with me there. I am also quit willing to point out Belleza's shortcomings - as I did some of in my super long post above. The biggest shortcoming they have is they take super long to do updates. They consider this a feature: Do it right not do it fast. I disagree with them. But then again I am an "Agile Development Engineer"... I work in the Silicon Valley in a software paradigm where we put out new code weekly if not daily, in small increments, and patch it constantly - so that the clients are always "moving forward". I see Belleza's approach as the old "IBM / Microsoft / Apple" way... and that way tends to leave those companies lagging behind. Apple, much as I love them, is often way behind and only survives on the strength of it's marketing... (and when you go from growing up poor in a racist environment, where you had to fight to survive, to homeless, to a self taught engineer pushing at the edges of the 1% in an industry where most of the people of your race work for the janitorial staff but the same people treating them like dirt have to address you respect if they want to stay around... - fighting in fast change becomes the way you see life. "Agile" is built into me beyond just my career. In the ghetto we called it 'hustling'. Different methods, same notion: be quick and one step ahead of the target sign.) I love Belleza... but I have no ability to effect their method of development, much to my frustration. But Maitreya actually isn't better on this score... it IS however, more timely. Maitreya patches 'right away' when a technology change happens... but then doesn't come back to clean it up later... Neither brand is actually Agile. /sigh...
  2. It does slim better. One look at the bosom in particular shows this. But also the legs and arms won't 'flatline' not pencils, but retains natural waves / curves that are present in thin bodies as well as natural bodies. I would NOT call Kardashian natural or curvy. But extreme. And yes, Belleza can do that look ALSO. And does it better than bodies like SKING that are designed to just do a comedy version of it.
  3. Racism actually explains BOTH sides of your story. Why you get approached as an Asian female and avoided as an Asian male. ESPECIALLY in a place like Frank's that highly caters to an older, less likely to be internationally fluent, generation. Western women have been trained for a very LONG time to have a highly negative bias against Asian men. At least in the USA... we get a constant barrage of BS about how Asian men are supposed to be domineering, abusive, effeminate, have small genitals, and so on. Supposedly the belief is that all Asian women are meek passive creatures (basically the complete opposite of the truth), horribly abused and repressed, and need White Men to come rescue them... (when I lived in Asia I met a constant stream of white dudes with this fantasy) For Thai men, there is also a common joke about 'ladyboys' that pops up anytime Thai men get mentioned. There's a reason one of the founders of the Black Panthers was an Asian man. I grew up hearing 'Yellow-N-word' as a term, with the 'N-word' fully said, in the 1970s. Bruce Lee seems to mark a singular point in western history where an Asian Man broke through and was seen as 'hot'. He tragically died before western media had to 'take him out' with some kind of publicity scandal. As a quarter Asian through my paternal line I've been hearing this racist stereotype tossed my family's way my whole life. I still hear it in jokes when people forget to 'code talk' around me... Consider that at one point in the USA it was illegal for Asian to marry, at all, period, and the ONLY profession an Asian woman was allowed to have, by law, was prostitute. If they got pregnant, they were deported to British China. SOME Asians were allowed to marry Chinese Brides as a 'victory award' after WWII, but the law against them marrying did not go away until the mid 1960s... Immigration was specifically banned for all Asians outside of work visas from the late 1800s until the mid 1960s. There used to be a lot of 'Yellow Menace' propaganda against them - much of it targeted at the "threat" Asian men were claimed to pose... the old stereotype of 'greedy, scheming, villainous' is very similar to the slanders often thrown at the Jewish community, and has overtime converted itself to the 'model minority' idea 'good in business, intelligent, secular'... And the stuff about 'abusive towards women' and 'small genitals' is just the usual kind of hate that gets attached to any ethnic group that might pose a 'race mixing not controlled by OUR men' threat... Personally I find Asian men can often be strikingly good looking (as did my South American grandmother and Appalachian-roots mother) and many that I've met have amazingly good manners, strong listening skills, and rarely pushy. Here in California things are changing. Most of the Anti-Asian racism STARTED here... but this place rapidly changed after the 1960s, and now I even often see Asian men with women of other races.
  4. That is basically what I said.
  5. One spot on my friends list is permanently reserved for a person that passed away in RL. Not only that but on my.secondlife a message from her is often the first thing I see when I go there. It was one of the last things she ever said to me, a meaningless little piece of chat, that I just hadn't bothered to open up and read until after I learned of her passing. So it's been sitting there for years now, long after they removed the ability to PM people through my.secondlife... This is also why there is a newsrack on one of my builds that is on fire, and has been since the day she passed on. *** I'm generally not good at making friends. A brutal upbringing has made me a hardened conditioned fighter, and I don't let my guard down very easily. I'm best when I have an engaging topic to go at, but the 'small talk' in SL is an odd fit for me, and often full of references I don't know (it too me a while to figure out why so many old dues in SL kept asking me 'what's knew'... which by the way... annoys me to no end. I usually just don't respond, even though I know they are trying to be friendly).
  6. They really should flip the business model on this one - and require the game members who have 'taken' souls to buy a ritual potion every week or so for each soul they have, to hold onto it... It has always felt like the business model for Bloodlines is funded on the idea of panicked newbies thinking they need to buy something to 'get away' from the game... rather than what more 'clean' businesses do and charge the gamers to play the game... Especially now that there aren't as many gullible noobs as there used to be... this old predatory model can't be as profitable as it once was... Breedables have the right of it... charge people to be able to keep playing... rather than charge people to be able to 'block / avoid' you you haven't yet learned they can just ignore you...
  7. I don't think there is any script that an detect what attachments someone is wearing. If there was, you could set that up at all the major events and scan people... For good reason this would likely get banned as invasive... So if such a script existed and I knew about it, I'd likely be lobbying to get LLs to block it... An alternative approach would be to get the top 3 fashion sellers to go 3 months selling products ONLY by the single body... So you'd walk into shop A and have to choose at purchase which body to buy it for... - This would cause outrage among the people who use multiple different mesh bodies... but it would get you SOLID data for usage among the 'active shopper' community... and lets face it, that is the only community merchants should care about anyway... people who buy a body once and then run around naked with it for the rest of their SL... don't matter for the merchant community. However... just imagine being the merchant trying to sell your 'fatpack' for only a single body at a time... Do you keep the price the same because most people will only buy one, then watch your buyers be outraged at getting 'less' for the same price even though most of them only used that less to begin with... or do you divide the price by the number of bodies you support, and watch your profits fall in a move your buyers "think" is fair because they're not seeing the larger picture?
  8. Any modern skin that isn't putting out an applier for ALL THREE of Slink, Belleza, and Maitreya, PLUS Omega... is a brand worth switching off of at the first opportunity to find something likable. If a skin maker isn't supporting the trend in SL that has been the major trend for several years now... you have to wonder what their plans are. I consider the HUD skins to be the 'training wheels' of a mesh body. Especially as, other than Belleza Jake, I've yet to see them come with compatible Mesh head appliers. THAT SAID... all of the HUD skins for Belleza are actually the tones that Belleza uses in their skin selection. Belleza is really a skin shop. Maitreya was a clothing shop. I use 'is' for Belleza on purpose there... the biggest problem with Belleza that I see is that it's active owner is still a skin maker, and I believe it is his/her team that makes the mesh. Not sure exactly on the roles... but all this time while Belleza is slow to update the model, they are still pushing out new skins... BUT all those new skins use the same body tones as in the Belleza HUD. (This hits another complaint with Belleza, one of the BEST African body skins I have ever seen was in the Belleza HUD of previous version. I kept hoping she would put out a matching face for it... but instead it was pulled from the HUD in the current release. The quality of that body skin was PERFECT for me... and that issue still bugs me 2 years on...) But if you're white, or certan shades of Hispanic or Asian... and you can get your features using any Belleza skin... that HUD has your skin already for the body... NOW... I find it a bit "unfair" to ever complain about Belleza's 3 bodies... given that everybody else EXCEPT Solarian only gives you one body with the purchase. And Solarian is a cat furry... so while it is a great fitmesh body, super low lag and copy/mod... with full third party bento support because the ENTIRE dev kit is INCLUDED in buying the body (you buy the body, you get a download link to the kit to use in Blender to model things for it) it's off topic here. BUT... Almost all creators make for Freya and nearly as many make for Isis. About half make for Venus. A scant few make for Isis but not Freya. The only ones that makes Venus only are the ones who haven't put anything out for Belleza in over 3 years... The bigger issue is that all Belleza "full" bodies come with 3 'breast positions': Natural, Perky, and I forget number 3 because I never use these... - Creators generally ONLY make for Natural. A few only make Perky. and fewer still make for both Perky and Natural. I have yet to see any product for the 3rd position... and Perky and the 3rd position are basically only meant FOR restrictive clothing... so they're generally only used with "Applier clothes"... - And that gets to a benefit of Belleza... The "lite" body... bad spelling is on purpose. that is how Belleza spelled it, because somebody never looked in a dictionary to find out the difference between 'lite' and 'light'... The "lite" body is actually a light body. It has many features removed, to cut down on lag. It may have been designed as a response to a specific request by me that I threw at them constantly in the year before it came out. I hammered this point at them over and over again... I publicly roasted them on them point over and over again... even though no other major brand offers this... I did it out of love and they listened... - the point is that... unless you are WEARING applier clothing... all those Applier layers are just lag beasts being carried around and not used... so give us a copy of the body without all that weight... and... they did. The "lite" bodies of Belleza... creators don't need to worry about - the same clothing that fits full fits lite. But I as a user... almost always wear the "lite" body as it dramatically cuts my "avatar complexity', makes the body rez faster, and reduces script weight... AND... that gets to ANOTHER feature of Belleza... The last button on the left side of the HUD... click it, and on the tab that folds out, is a button to remove the scripts in your currently attached body... - After I configure a body for an outfit, I do this. It kills the ability to use the HUD on that copy of the body... BUT it also makes that copy super light weight... When I'm running around on a copy of Belleza Lite Freya that has had the scripts removed... I'm almost as low on lag as a classic SL avatar. The ONLY body that competes on this score... is the Solarian cat furry...
  9. That's why that''s on flickr and not here. That screenshot is my first, last, and only ever contact with that person. But even that really wouldn't matter - there is no context that makes that statement acceptable. Which was why my action was to block and ban them.

  11. Check out JIAN. They have a lovely animated mesh cat that you can set to a variety of different breeds. It is not a breedable and you don't need to keep feeding it. The kit comes with one that you can set to roam around your land, one you can attach to walk with you, and several 'static' ones in cute poses you can use for screenshots. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/JIAN-Kitten-Collection/9227148 - But check out their inworld store too. Really nice stuff there.
  12. I have a Black Lives Matter sign up on several parcels. I have also put up Black Panther flags (I have RL links with some of them). And I have several anti-trump / anti-racism signs up. Things like this: Rarely an issue. Though recently I did get someone having a freakout over #BlackLivesMatter at me... I just blocked them, posted their info on flickr, and banned them from all my land... I've been on Mainland since 2009 - two plots on M, the rest on A land. (I have many small parcels here and there for different things. Like the water land I have on Blake Sea for sailing). I ran a 'political discussion' group a few months back and we did get a Tea Party member a few times - she was actually civil though, not bashing. The only 'griefing basher' my politics group had was a fellow liberal who got mad when I didn't take kindly to their offer of SL-Sex... and who railed against us 'destroying the liberal cause by talking about identity politics like racism and sexism'... There's a flickr group dedicated to images like the one I've included above
  13. No value? I have a stack of accounts that I use. I like to theme each of them. Case in point... yesterday I wanted to look human, but still be African. I could just take off my neko tail, ears, etc... But instead I pulled out an old alt, and went and bought her: A 2000L Skin, a 2000L AO, an 1800L mesh head, and a stack of fashion accessories. I then did a whole series of screenshots and uploaded 10 images to form the basis of her profile and picks and 'stuff'... That was actually 5800L of things that were duplicates of items I already have on Pussycat. I must be a merchant's dream come true sometimes... Pussycat is a neko. That won't ever change. I'd rather be banned from a plot than take off my neko parts... but other avatars are not Nekos. All of this exists in a framework where I have an active alt that is also human, but Asian... Most people just change their look... I get that. But to me each account has it's own "story" (I've even taken to writing these up in my picks for some of them)... and with that comes a look... I have also cycled these up toe premium and down to basic over time - depending on how I am using land... Right now I have 2 premiums. The other account is mostly unused... it just pays a bill and donates land. Most of my SL is done on the alts, and I make no secret that they are me - but don't usually mention it either.
  14. take a look at me tell me what do you see you dont have to love me but am not your enemy and am not amused by your verbal abuse you think you are clever what a sorry excuse playing with the minds of people dangerous games they play man if you are not careful they lead you a stray protect your soul by any means necessary take nothing for granted you may be sorry ooohhh one life u've got to live come on lets us live it right if u're in bed with the devil then you ave made your choice because Choruswe've been battered and bruise (Rept 1) we still nursing wounds battered and bruised still nursing my wounds battered and bruised yea still nursing my wounds battered and bruised yeah still nursing wounds Verse 2 we face all form of human segregation who use to ask me ware i am from they brought us here in shackles and chain and throughout the centuries its nothing but painRept chorus x2 rept verse 1
  15. Why do people care to hide what they're wearing. I broadcast that info about myself any chance I get... The more shoppers I can send to my preferred merchants, the more likely they will make more 'lootz' for me to buy... So... ya'll done need to head over to no.Match and buy her entire collection of deadlocks, then complain that there aren't enough for sale yet... then head over to Ayashi and buy all that cute anime like hair... and then complain again... - Then bug 'My Animation' up for some dances... cause reasons... and... I could go on... Today... I'm sitting AFK on an alt, trying to decide what to do. Kind of what I do a lot of days... I have this grand plan to build one of those 'AFK hangouts'... but I need to 'push myself over the line' and do it... yet dressing up my avatar is just more fun...
  16. I have a windlight setting that runs through a 24 hour day cycle. Just about 2 days ago I made a new version for 2018 - after realizing that my gamma setting on my 2016 one was too high. All these 'super pale black skin avatars' I was seeing... and advert photos that looked way darker than the demos... where my own fault. So lesson learned. Look at a product in the 'default windlight', then in your own windlight... and decide if the difference is something you can live with or if you need to redo your lighting settings. The key differences in my own windlight: 1. Sun position adjusted for roughly my real life latitude - coming slightly from the north. I wanted shadows to have a small angle on them to resemble my reality. 2. Clouds and haze adjusted so I can do better distance shots. 3. Slight shift to color base in the ambient lighting to make my colors 'pop' more. And... still tweaking to get it to feel right. For screenshots I post up on my flickr and elsewhere... I will use a custom lighting for the moment. Especially if it is indoors. If you're new to messing with SL lighting I highly recommend getting the Torley windlights and playing with them. You can get some amazingly vibrant photos by taking something like the 'Incongruent Truths' windlight, and then just tweaking the 'time' and 'sun angle' a bit... That's a great 'starter kit' - get amazing images right away... and as you play with it things only get better: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/WindLight_settings - Playing with them will teach you how to set up your own lighting for the right mood or even for a 'day to day' experience that feels comfortable to you (I think it really helps me in my day settings to have the sun angle resemble my real life. It makes SL feel more like 'home' - and this one is going to be different depending on where you live in RL).
  17. Breedables are largely still stuck in the sculpty era. That alone is now reason enough to start banning them from any sims one has control over. The scripts aren't lag issues anymore... but the sculpty aspect is...
  18. The built in genitals... They're 'stuck' there... they just turn trans when you hide them... And they are baby sized... Somebody needs to run around with a prim and start measuring guy's parts... Blokes are running around SL with goods either under 3" or over 30"... It's either tiny, or absurd... That 2" dangly thingy looks mighty funny too... on an 'old school' tall avatar... dudes with tiny heads, tiny hands... and if you get slink... tiny genitals... /fail.
  19. Neither would I. Tonic fine should have the same problem as Belleza Isis and Venus - they all compete DIRECTLY with Maitreya. Belleza Freya holds its ground because it gives you the ability to make looks you simply cannot make at all with Maitreya - not even close resemblances. Freya and Hourglass both do that... but Hourglass is very cartoony, so hasn't managed to compete well with Freya - yet it still holds ground. I STRONGLY suspect Someone in the Tonic fan community is 'rounding up the fans' and others and getting them to push up the poll. This is not a bad tactic... Maitreya fans used to do that back when Belleza was number one - and they got their numbers to spike enough that designers began to support it more... and were then helped by how slow Belleza is on it's updates... I demo'd the Altamura body at the fair. I came away feeling I wouldn't even keep it if I was paid to do so. Not only was the HUD even LESS developed than the old Lena Lush/Perky bodies... but the body looked... skeletal thin, and the breasts had an odd shape at a larger size. - It actually looked a LOT like somebody modeled it by looking at Maitreya on another screen and trying to get their look... but not as refined as such. It looks like a body that needs to be 'retired' when it's next update comes out and gives a new and improved look... Kind of like Belleza attempted to do with Venus...
  20. This always blows my mind... I think the very first thing I ever did with a computer, in the early 1980s, involved an array... Like... on a computer that didn't even have a hard drive yet... I am always confused as to HOW they managed to not put arrays into LSL... that's like coffee... without roasting the beans... It just belongs in the dictionary as a listing under "fail".
  21. There was one that ran for a couple years that was basically all about nude blond women with giant boob attachments in between pages of ads. "Busty" I think was the name. - I imagine there's a lot of room in SL for an 'A / Moderate' themed magazine.
  22. I've kinda run out of shops. There's booN and no.Match And everyone else seems to be out of business... or... I try the demo and zoom back 5m and it turns into triangles... or... it's no-mod. Looking for suggestions for any of Dreadlocks, Weaves, or Braids that fit these criteria: 1. Copy / Mod - I have my own custom hair color so I need a dark brown or faded black I can use the 'color' tool to set to "me". 2. Low Complexity Score - under 10,000 is best. Under 15,000 I can still use with most outfits. 3. Doesn't turn into triangles when I zoom myself back. I use LOD 2.5 (see Firestorm's latest release and it's article about why we need to use lower LOD). But some brands break into triangles only a short distance away even at LOD 4. 4. Doesn't run in front of the bosom. Even if fitmesh, I find this never looks right from either the side or the front or both with the shape I use. What's out there these days that I am failing to find?
  23. I am sooo glad to see "High Complexity" as a repeating theme here. I can start being social more if the 300,000 complexity lag beasts go out of style... (It's one thing to go out when you've de-rendered half or more of the people around you... it's a whole other thing when you can see and interact with them.)
  24. Ok... how many versions of this topic do we need?
  25. I was long ago told that the original developers of TMP had already left SL, and that it's currently under either someone they gave it to, or the 'one person that still has an account'... Many mesh body brands have tools that resemble the style HUD for applying things. When people here say they don't like the style HUD what they are really bothered by is that it is mandatory for all changes and a locked system using external to SL servers... And completely pointless... The UUID of everything you encounter in SL is stored as the name of the file of that object in your cache folder... so any measures to protect UUIDs of things like textures are folly... You either have to trust people to use the things they pay for, or pull out. Maybe that is why they pulled out. Everyone else now uses either 'the applier system' or... if the body is mod (like in the furry community), sells you a no-transfer texture and you just edit your body and put it on. The Applier system might "seem like the Style HUD"... but it's all contained inside of SL. If the maker of the applier leaves SL, you can still use your applier. No external servers... EVERYONE is going to know the day the last member of TMP leaves SL. Because on that day, every TMP body in SL will no longer work - whatever you were wearing at that moment as a skin or layer - you will be stuck wearing forever.
