  1. Maybe try some item deliveries in SL using various methods and get back to us.

Every time I turn around I am faced with burning weeks on commerce team "ideas". I do believe that they have already stated that they won't be automatically converted but will require that the content of the magic box is dragged to the Marketplace out box and then products re-associated in MP. I would have thought the reassociating could have been automated as long as the file names matched?
  3. Sassy Romano wrote: CTL, please can you confirm for me *precisely* at what point in the disparate processes does the ANS notification occur in the Direct Delivery mechanism? Specifically is it AFTER the merchant has been paid or before it? I still hold the belief that all that Direct Delivery is doing is substituting web to magic box communications while leaving the rest of the non transactional processes still in place and architecturally dysfunctional. As we have seen, failures on the part of LL infrastructure have in the past caused a merchant headache due to what feels like several loosely coupled processes and an escrow account "Commerce Linden" that will be wholly redundant once Direct Delivery is deployed in full. Also, great news that DD is finally getting here, does this also mean that this frees up development resource to plan the next major project, the one that we've all been asking for since MP began:- "Email notification when a review is left" ^ This.

  5. I probably should have elaborated in my previous reply - unfortunately no one can "script" a solution to folder destinations, and thereby make any money out of it - SL scripts can't affect such things - only viewer code can.
  6. yeah - you're better off rezzing a copy, rather than moving.
  7. Check that your magic boxes are version 3.0.11. Update if necessary. Follow the box status link from your merchant page to the old xstreet. Ignore the warning and insist on logging in anyway. Check the boxes listed there at the bottom of the page (ignore mention of unlisted products, etc - the rest of the site is dead) Most commonly you will find some ghost boxes there that have not been deleted. They mess things up. If you do, delete those. See if that helps. If not, remove all the boxes from the list there then reset them inworld to register them again. Then synch etc. If things are still not showing, it could be the sim - try rezzing copy of your box(es) on another sim or get a sim restart (you should have copies on a 2nd sim anyway). 8. Check which image link you're trying to give it - there are a few diff ones - it should be ending in .jpg
  9. Rez it and check. If any single item inside is no-mod (commonly a script), it will show as no-mod in inventory, but on rezzing you can mod the prim. Standard SL behaviour.
  10. Something seems a bit different in my listings too, but TBH I'd be glad to see sales etc removed from relevance results, in favour of, ooh let's see... matching search terms?
  11. * NO CHANGE FROM CURRENT BEHAVIOR: Take or take copy will go to the folder it came from. If the folder does not exist in the current user’s inventory, the item will go the Objects folder Take copy does NOT currently go to folder it came from - is this changing or not? * MINOR CHANGE FROM CURRENT BEHAVIOR: Items returned to a user’s inventory will go to the user’s Lost and Found folder AND an IM will be sent to alert the user (the IM is new) We already get an IM about this - is this a change or not? * In order to make it harder to end up with a really big Received Items folder (and easier to move things out of the folder), the following changes are proposed: * The Received Items pane will become a new floater which supports search (and possibly sort) Unless it can sort by newest first it will be a nightmare * Objects cannot be rezzed from the Received Items folder (will require users to move objects to inventory to use them) This seems awfully clunky - wouldn't be so bad if just for MP deliveries - but messy if everything else is going there. Does the size of the folder really matter? And what about notecards, for example - can they be opened? I get tons of NCs/textures from group notices/scripted deliveries - currently they open automatically on acceptance - i can glance over them then decide to keep or not. If this changes I either won't read most of what i'm sent, or i have to go and move the thing then click to open it - very time consuming. * Drag and drop OUT of the Received Items folder is allowed but not INTO the Received Items folder Why?? Who'd want to add stuff there anyway? * In order to prevent griefing, we are proposing a Resident to Resident limit of N deliveries per hour. Feel free to provide feedback on what this value should be. There's no number you can safely pick . There are instances where someone would actually want 100+ items sent in a short time, yet for most ppl that's a griefer level of spam. And btw resident to resident is not your major concern. Saving offline deliveries is good. Using this folder for everything else, then adding impractical limitations to it is bad. Confusion re current inworld inventory processes is disconcerting.
  12. The vast majority of my customers are merchants and I love it. They're knowledgable, interesting, creative, and just generally cool people to deal with. Some could be considered demanding, in that they ask for extra product features or changes, but that's really useful feedback that only helps make my products better (and I've kind of reached the point where I have a pretty good idea of the sort of extras my customers are going to ask for anyway, and can include those in the initial release.) They can sometimes be time consuming, especially when trying to work out which combination of products they need for their business, but I also enjoy that - it's fun learning about what people create and how they run their business, and even if i end up answering questions, or talking about scripting or marketing or whatever for an hour, which isn't unusual, I learn just as much in the process as they do, getting to know my customers' needs better which then helps my own business.
  13. Ah brilliant - thanks Dart - good sources Yeah trying to research things like that demonstrates one of the weaknesses of the wiki system, where diachronic info risks being lost to revision, and old-fashioned reporting shows its value. GOM story is classic.
  14. Ilyra Chardin wrote: When SL was established originally, linden dollars were just game money and you could not purchase or sell it. Then residents started buying it from one another and some even began to sell it on ebay. It was an unforeseen, unplanned for side effect. This prompted linden labs to allow the purchase and sale of the game currency. Interesting - do you have a reference for that? I'd been looking for some L$ history and havent been able to find anything. Altho entertainingly enough, I did manage to find this Wired summary of SL from 2006, which, apart from the outdated figures, is still uncannily accurate overall.
  15. Flickr is worthwhile, not only because it's an easy way to make a free catalogue, but also because there's already a huge SL photography community there. There are hundreds of groups for SL photos - add your pics to those and make sure you give details about their creation and a SLURL to location.
  16. Yes, 3.5% of every cashout, plus 5% of MP before that - and that's cash income. As Josh pointed out (yes, heavens to Betsy, I'm agreeing with Josh) >>Money entering SL gives LL something to play with, but if they may have it pay it back out, it's not really revenue yet. >>In fact, it's essentially debt. They're not actually allowed to treat this as income, not unless they want to end up in a Full Tilt Poker situation
  17. Copy the list of buyer names and paste in this, add update and hit send : https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/ArtiZan-Postmaster-Online-Delivery-Mail-Server/1365664 Or if you'd rather them come to your store to collect, add name list and update to this: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/ArtiZan-Access-List-3000-Vendor-Gift-Giver-Sellsgives-only-to-names-on-list/1688282
  18. I get what you're saying Luna, and I don't discount it all - I just don't think LL care who their customers are, as long as people are joining and staying and paying money. The more money that moves in and out, the more they make. And a healthy economy has people at all levels, rich/poor, old/new etc, and as with many SL issues, I really don't think they think about it that hard - as long as there's stuff for people to do and things for them to buy, they don't care about the details. If anything I think the reason there would be more focus on newer arrivals would be precisely because they are new. They've already got us. We're the fat old spouses sitting at home who ain't going anywhere - they don't have to dress up for us. It's the pretty new things whose attention they're trying to keep

Scenario 2 - Compare that to say 30 or 40 creators living in Linden homes and paying premium tier to LL. The people in Scenario 1 are sucking money out of the game each month (LL is sending us a paycheck) while Scenario 2 people never take money from the game. ........LL wants the Scenario 2 people. Lindex transactions are user-user. LL takes a cut anyway.

Is land set to group? if so, could he have been in the group and rezzed? Otherwise, just break down each stage of the info you have - Did it really happen as the person said? What evidence do you have? etc
  21. Nice - congrats You might want to start a Flickr page as a catalogue of your work
  22. Just FYI - there's not a script function that will allow you to overide land settings. But the no script zone only goes to 45m, so having outside scripts disabled at 3000m is pointless. Whenever you move/delete magic boxes, make sure you go to xstreet and update the list - ghost boxes hang around and cause problems
