  1. Bumping because new borked listings (with mixed up photos and info) are still appearing!
  2. Ok so I now have a new borked listing that just turned up...which looks like a duplicate of an existing listing, but using an old name for the product as it was back at the time of migration in 2010. Either that or it's one i deleted and replaced at that time. But anyway I now have an extra product and seem to have diversified into the goth avatar market. How the hell are they making more borked listings? Is there some virulent borkage process stil running rampant?
  3. Oh good grief. And the ridiculous thing is there's probably no way the organisers of that will ever find out how badly it was implemented and it will just happen all over again next time.
  4. LOL Don't worry - I once had someone not only copy my description, but use a script to replicate every single prim on my parcel and reproduce them on theirs. (This was back when search was more prim name based). I've also (still) got an affiliate who copied my parcel desc to try to compete with me in search lol.
  5. MP runs on Amazon cloudfront servers - if you watch any page loading you'll see it being redirected to the cloud url.
  6. Spica Inventor wrote: Ah, then that's where we differ. I'm largely motivated in getting many more folks to hang out in S.L. (and lagging up the servers hehe) then making the most money I can in the short and medium term. I would much rather see volume purchasing rather than largely what a few Rich people can afford. More people in S.L. also equates to more creativity. I would like to see more sims devoted to artwork and creativity (and higher quality) instead of being primed up with market stuff (a necessity to financially support many of the sims out there). Diversity variety and volume must be nurtured by L.L. or S.L. will just continue to stagnate and then inevitably start to shrink like AOL did when competition finally kicks in in earnest. There's no need to be rich at all - money is only a barrier to those with no imagination. SL is already free to play and land ownership isn't necessary at all to get started with creative endeavours. I've never put a cent into SL and didn't even have payment info on file for the first three years, yet was cashing out after 6 months via SLX. So much is available for free, and a lot more now than there was in 2007. I started with contests, games, put together crazy outfits from Yadni's Junkyard and won "Best in xxx" comps, trivia comps. Got into SL photography and uploaded some of my RL paintings, entered art shows which gave free gallery spots and sold artworks. Got offered lots of other gallery spots/shows on commission. Had 6-8 galleries running that way without paying a cent up front. Did some custom photography and logo design on request. Started scripting, made some useful devices for gallery owners initially then business in general, got a small cheap mall rental and put stuff on SLX. Got affiliate vendors in a few spots on commission. Rented land for a decent main store for about $15 a month once i had enough products to fill it and only went premium and bought land in 2010 when my store's sim changed owners. At all times any land/rental expenses were well covered by existing income. See similar in http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Commerce-Forums-General/Competition-How-hard-can-it-be/td-p/445911

Wouldn't you rather have lower land costs then lower marketplace prices? In fact I wouldn't mind at all if they had a 100% cut from Marketplace sales and at the same time lower land prices to a quarter of what they are right now. ;-) No, not at all. I'd rather see the L$ go higher, esp with the dropping $US. If you're running a profitable business you want the L$ higher. And land costs are trivial to my own business - in fact I just doubled my land holdings for the hell of it, as a buffer for future expansion. And no I don't have a full sim, but by the time you're buying a full sim you should have sufficient income to justify it. If tier prices are making a massive dint in your business profits, you need to revise your business model. Most people will pay the smallet tier they can get away with - if you dropped prices by a quarter people wouldn't buy 4x as much land.
  8. LOL Perrie - make it quick - the original got removed for "flaming" - although I don't know who could possibly have thought it was aimed at them, since I replied to Lasher, lol. Obviously this one was missing the "Snap Out Of It" Activator. There's an inworld freebie too, complete with bubbles - I'll send you one. it's actually available RL from online joke shops - along with others including Diva (high maintenance forumula!) and Geezer (no extra shrinkage or fading!) http://www.onepassionplace.com/body_detergents.htm
  9. All good points - lol@ veges and deck chairs. One of my favourite items of 60s kitch I got from my mother is a pharmaceutical-company-logo-gift-to-doctors ashtray...
  10. Spica Inventor wrote: You know if Linden Labs is really having a problem with keeping up their profits, why don't they just boost up their Marketplace commission to 10% or something. I for one wouldn't mind it at all at that rate. I would much prefer that over L.L. just jacking up exchange rates periodically to compensate for falling income. Jacking up their exchange rates simply resulted in more people abandoning inworld land renting. Of course if they drop their land rental rates, that would be the best thing they could do for all concerned for the long term, but I don't think that's going to happen until there is some real competition to force them to look longer term. Huh? what "jacking up exchange rates"? And no - screw higher commissions.
  11. Sera Lok wrote: I looked up Spree and it claims to be "the most flexible e-commerce platform" -- so why can't LL change it? You could start with "Why can't we get an email when a review is left?" and go from there. Motivation, willingness, skill, budget, time, viability of conversion vs redesign, etc... You could turn a bus into a train carriage but if you wanted it to fly you'd have to start from scratch with aerodynamic design, lighter metals... Now where's that post about issues that should have been discussed 2-3 years ago?
  12. LOL Infrequent posters are so good at memorising deleted text...
  13. Reasonable ideas TT, but the model of creating an order when an item is added to the cart isn't from LL, it's built in to Spree.
  14. There was talk of a listing fee years ago. Never happened. Has never been a ban on freebies to this point.
  15. iCade wrote: Luc - apparently they can. I left the review and it took me back to the reviews page after hitting submit. My review was immediately hidden and only the 1 star rating is now a sign that there might have been an unhappy customer. Personally I am against hiding reviews at all, a lot of people do this and it always makes me think they got something to hide. I'd rather see people complain in reviews about not getting items - because any sensible customer knows that it's LL fudging up not the merchant - than to NOT see actual problems the customer has had. And here you go. MY Screenshots taken at default windlight settings at midday. Advert: Top: Where did the texture go? Looks worse when facing away from the sun. Then it's rat grey. Trimming...is it white? Yellow? Gold? I can't tell. Front: As you can see from the exposed skin, I am FACING the sun, these pants aren't white, they're...grey. Shoes naturally came without a resize script, didn't bother fiddling with them. Back: You can almost guess at what the texture is supposed to be but it ends up looking like I am a dirty person sitting down on dirty benches. ALL the time. I was hoping for glam, but all I got was a dirty outfit What photoshopping are you claiming here? If anything there are differences in lighting and light dynamics, but I"m interested to see what you think has been done? I'd start with looking at your own graphics settings. What's your video card? Do you have anti-aliasing turned on? The shoes just look like you're not wearing the alpha/trans layer. Also, the midday setting you used is the very worst for photography - no one in their right mind would use that for any product shot, even for a coffee table.
  16. /shudder Still trying to work out which is worse
  17. There's a flagging category "Item not as advertised". You can also leave a review as mentioned. These forums have their own rules, but there's actually nothing in the TOS preventing you from informing others inworld or elsewhere, unless it could be construed as harrassment.
  18. Yes I've wondered this ever since the MB scripts from ?3 years ago were never touched, and also the whole new site, when prettifying the old would have been so much better in retrospect. But i'm still willing to give credit to stupid decisions and avoidance of LSL scripting too. Independent group is an interesting idea - hadn't thought of that. If anything I'd view it as the work of people whose pay is in no way tied to performance...
  19. Agree entirely and thanks for taking the time to write all that DG. I'm lost for words, or at least words that can be uttered in polite company (or even around you lot ;p).
  20. Where are you looking? Nothing's changed that i've seen
  21. lol and Argus wins by a nanosecond
  22. Darien - all existing merchants were invited when it was created back in the Xstreet/ ?Pink Linden days, but nothing formal has been done with it since then. It was closed invite originally but I think it's open now - just check the link from my profile or others here - "Second Life Commerce Merchants" is the exact name, iirc

  24. Luna Bliss wrote: Dakota announced this in the Commerce group today. It would be nice if these kinds of changes were announced in advance so we wouldn't all scramble around and worry. What?? So they inform a handful of people and expect gossip to do the rest? Cos yeah that's how professionals do PR and project managment...
