I would leave it as stands but perhaps a little less confrontational ( '..You just hoped that I would have gone with your pity little game' ) although I understand As it is I may be rare insofar as I do read reviews and comments added to them. Your response was basically fine. Plus point - we know who this other is. I would leave it there and move on.

What did SL do wrong during the early days?
sirhc DeSantis replied to Axel UwU's topic in General Discussion Forum
Always curious about those claiming to have been there 'back in the day' that never give the name they were using then. Understand that for some its because they were naughty and are skirting around by making up a new account but this seems to not be the case here. And on the '1000s' numbers - I do remember the day that the grid hit 15k logged in and didn't immediately burst in to flames after a big update. Did so a few days later of course...2007 sometime? I suppose all those other 1000s and 1000s thronging the teeming malls must have been doing it when I was asleep. -
What's up with Mesh Studio? (fraud claims)
sirhc DeSantis replied to Sylvia Wasp's topic in Building and Texturing Forum
That product would 'probably' fall under user to user dispute, next to 'caveat emptor'. As you have read the reviews then... Besides, its not the only tool on MP. As for the rest? There already exist legit TPVs that allow a creator to export either as OXP/XML (the latter still oddly useful) or DAE/OBJ format if they are actually the creator - ie all of it. Mesh ones need a fair bit of clean up (to put it mildly) but the facility exists. All work fine for taking your stuff out and taking to - who cares, if you are the legit creator. And blender + at last count about a trillion how to vids will cost you zilch. -
SL and its Learning Curve
sirhc DeSantis replied to Phil Deakins's topic in General Discussion Forum
You know some of the points here do have validity now that I have thought a bit more. Shoes and - other things - were a challenge when first attempted but I remember it more as fun than anything else. Mostly anyway. An old treasured possession is still a pair of prim boots from the dawn of time. Not that they are very good its just they were my first success at wearing feet covers that were not all one piece. On the correct feet as well which i took as a bonus. And of course now replaced for usual day to day stuff. I suppose that yes the individual steps can seem a bit convoluted though. -
SL and its Learning Curve
sirhc DeSantis replied to Phil Deakins's topic in General Discussion Forum
Have to agree, like you I got that arrow keys move, you talk by doing this and...well was up and away. Perhaps its more to do with how overwhelming it can be. A very early memory was of ending up somewhere and spending a good hour in a state of panic as I could not for the life of me work out how to get back to - Hanja of all places. That step led to the reallisation of what an LM was. Later bits involved how to badly ruin land, how to build stuff etc etc. One thing is I have nothing else to compare it to - never been one for the usual 'shooter' type games so not a clue how complex they are and Wow and I lasted about the time it took to uninstall again - this after starting SL too.. Possibly blender comes close in its ability to baffle but there again wouldn't have it any other way. The only thing that may be a factor is the viewer - I use a few but still stick to whatever feels closest to the one I started on (one of the 1.somethings as they seemed to come out with an obligatory update twice a week). More than willing to admit that certain parts still elude me. To this day, gestures and me are not on speaking terms. But none of it has been a hindrance over the years. Just as you say, took those steps as the need arose. -
Looking forward to the next episode of this.

If I had the ability to sign back up for a year right now? I would do it in an instant. I miss it. Without the inducements offered. Although that 512 makes me miss my 'First land' -

Did anyone else find this unacceptable?
sirhc DeSantis replied to Prokofy Neva's topic in Your Avatar
With respect, although I do not have your long term experience, I have to disagree with the effectiveness of reporting this...subject. I have filed 5 ARs on this and the response has been fast and effective in all five cases. This is one area I feel that the Lab do take it seriously, where (emphasis mine) it is merited. So yes - if someone thinks it deserves it, the AR process is there. -
Not an oldbie by your standard in the slightest But... Still remember the day on rollout when the grid hit 15k* log ins - and stayed up. A wednesday I recall Apart from that well as always not had enough horses under the hood - all around the platform has *stunned* And as an SL13B (and 12 11 10) erm helper of others.,, (*the number total still not matched by any SL equiv set up together - also possibly after your time /ducks/. Bunker is calling and welcome back)

I was going to say 'can I haz a pony' to the OP as stating actuality seems to be a dead and gone art (reference recent RL politicks). But I haz a happy I gots new boots Plus petabyte sounds like one of them 'elite expert' terms.
-
Yes, its the 'new thing' out there, probably one of those soshual medja fads. Quite popular recently in politics where anyone expressing challenging the validty of claims is labelled 'elitist'. Shortform 'I don't need to actually prove stuff cos its what I think and you can't oppress me Stan' or something. This years '1%er' meme probably. Latest incarnation - brit referendum, also see - 'expert' as insult.

Is Linden Lab REALLY giving up on SL's VR?
sirhc DeSantis replied to Nalates Urriah's topic in Second Life Viewer
With all due respect (as I read your blog as any SL'er should) I have still to see any compelling case to even try the strap-a-diving-mask-to-your-head unless I am being paid (or forced which is an idea) to do so. In any form. And it is odd that the most content rich collection of stuff actually in use by actual users is within the SL vault And mine of course because whats mine - really is. But yes understand the 'running for cover' bit I thought that was quite brill. Oh did you also see hifi launched a marketplace - with no actual money:) -

Quote "I concede the point that you cannot use this to recreate intellectual property owned by another party" Then at least you got the point. Well done. After that not much point quoting ( i'd sooner be grouting ) - if you actually understand the point then double points. -
Security Orb Creators and Owners
sirhc DeSantis replied to Slee Mayo's topic in General Discussion Forum
"..a paranoid security orb owner's parcel " and "... EjectAgentBecauseImParanoid(5);" sums it all up. Way to make a reasoned case. Besides, 5 seconds is far too long. -
Just saw the log in page rainbow picture at secondlife.com Thank you Lindens.
