  1. That is a pretty big price increase for premium and it makes me hesitate about the idea of renewing. I'll probably take the early renewal if it fits the budget and then think twice beyond that. Yes, that one seems strange to me too.
  2. That is not true. There is no rule prohibiting you from right click and ejecting or banning them immediately.
  3. I agree with you, but with one reservation. To let people travel around Second Life, tell their non SL friends to come check it out, and spend on content creators requires something very important: restrictions on ban lines and security orbs on the rest of the mainland. Otherwise we have one relatively safe area (Bellissaria) and the entire rest of the grid is full of send-home orbs. Walking a mine field and waiting to be sent home does not make me want to tell my non-SL friends to come in world. I doubt it will do that for others either.
  4. Not specifically about the security orbs, but the related topic of ban lines . . . . A friend in SL told me about an unfriendly neighbor he had who put up ban lines. And the way my friend dealt with it was to put up what he called "Welcome Lines." He showed me his. I basically like the idea of something like that, which would be the polar opposite of ban lines. I figured that was a pretty funny idea. But I wanted something a little different from his version. So tonight I had a break from the other projects I've been asked to build lately and I made . . . . . . . my own version of welcome lines! With a friendly smiley face! Now I'm debating whether to make them available to others. I don't want them to become a pollutant. But I think they are fun and the other people I showed them to got a nice chuckle out of them. 🙂
  5. The OP was very difficult to read so I did not read most of it. But the reason I want one of the new homes is twofold (1) community and (2) a place without the insane ban lines and security orbs that pollute the rest of the mainland. Keeping visual pollution from low hanging skyboxes away is a nice bonus. But it’s really the other two factors that make me want one of the new homes. I was flying over the new houseboats when my helicopter got eaten by a sim crossing. It was frustrating, but I ended up at the Squishy Pickle gathering. Ended up having some of the most SL fun I have had in ages. So, yes, I’d like in on that. 🙂
  6. You can visit the entire continent of Bellissaria to see houseboats and traditional homes to your heart’s content. But going premium just to get one is not advisable. The last release was sold out in 27 minutes. There are lots of other reasons to go premium, but just doing it for a houseboat is not wise.
  7. The exact altitude boundaries covered by the LL orb and any permissible orb are kind of a source of confusion. Moles and Lindens have said contradictory things. Perhaps @Patch Linden or someone could clarify exactly what the safe altitudes are meant to be? That could help avoid a bunch of erroneous ARs.
  8. Last time I flew through the area, I saw a few of these. Also a bunch that are set to permissible times, but still alerting and booting people between 400 and 2000 meters, where there's supposed to be no orb activity at all. Seems like the most effective way to solve the problem would be to get the orb makers to put out updates so that hopefully automatic updates would go out and automatically include the restrictions. I think orb makers would definitely do it if this were a worldwide thing. But will they eventually do it for just Bellissaria? But no matter how you do it, there's going to be an adjustment period. We're in that adjustment period.
  9. You know . . . I can't believe I'm saying this . . . but I'm actually considering applying. The professionalism is appealing, notwithstanding typos. And who doesn't love a wedding? And I'm saying this as someone who has turned down pretty much every job I've been offered for at least 1+ years. I can't believe I'm actually thinking about it. But regardless of whether I decide apply or not in the next few days, let me voice appreciation for an impressive recruiting pitch. One question. You have positions advertised but listed as 0 vacancies. Does that mean no applications considered or does that mean no real vacancies but still would consider someone if the right person came along?
  10. I heard the same. I will keep an eye out on the Linden home getting page and see if I manage to pick one up. In the meantime, I will see if I can fly over and provide a coast guard safety inspection since I have a coast guard version helicopter. Coast guard should be seen in maritime areas, after all.
  11. I can't believe I missed out. Those went even faster than the original launch. It wasn't even close, in fact. I wonder if there would be any demand for land with some reasonable limitations on security orbs and ban lines. Like Bellissaria, for example. 🙂
  12. Yes, it is. We have had people actually inquire about becoming LiaEx employees in the past. With some space in airports and a seaport land having been donated and LiaEx invited to setup shop in the last few days, it means the company is becoming more real. So last night, I figured why not start hiring people? We have already hired a corporate Vice President, whose first act upon getting hired was to go take a nap. So naturally, he received employee of the month on his first day. And we figure there must be other top notch talent out there.
  13. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. LiaEx Begins Hiring! Today LiaEx, the Second Life grid leader in innovative cargo shipping solutions, announced that it is hiring! LiaEx has openings in its Air, Ground, And Sea Divisions. Those who wish to apply should visit our corporate headquarters (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Paneer/104/20/24) and read our corporate FAQ, then contact LiaEx CEO Lia (female.winslet) to arrange an interview. "Thanks to innovative services like Eventually Air Self-Opening, LiaEx has seen rapid growth," said Lia, "Growth means we need to hire more people to keep up our customary high level of service for all of our customers grid wide. So it is an opportunity for anyone." Those who wish to apply should bear in mind that, as a measure to keep prices low for our customers, LiaEx does not hire licensed professional individuals or provide training. LiaEx applies a compensation model similar to those used by Uber and Lyft, in which employees are paid what they earn. LiaEx benefits are excellent; if you meet our high standards, we would benefit greatly from having you work for us. LiaEx proudly serves Corsica, Gaeta V, Satori, Nautilus, Nautilus City, the Blake Sea Estates, Sansara, Bellisaria, Jeogeot, and Heterocera. LiaEx is the company to call when you absolutely don't need it there tomorrow. Or next week. Or next month.
  14. So basically I am ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooold and you are oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllldddddddddddddddddddddddddd?
  15. Nope. I joined SL with my first account in July 2006 so I am ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooold. But I am also a cat. A snow leopard, to be exact. And that means I am extremely egocentric.
  16. By the power invested in me as a cat, I have decreed that SL shall not crash tonight. So nothing to worry about for anyone.
  17. Well, first of all, that was an announced time frame for maintenance, not an outage. There has been no announced time frame for the outage. Second, I have a bit more faith in LL than that. LL is not perfect. Sometimes they get things wrong. And, yes, sometimes things like maintenance take longer than expected. But by and large they do really well at keeping up a product that uses old infrastructure to support all manner of custom designed product created by a bunch of people who are, mostly, not pros. I think that's pretty amazing. I'm confident that they will get this fixed and I won't be a bit surprised if it is sooner than expected. Sometimes they do that too. And with that, I am off to get some sleep. Thank you, @Tommy Linden, @Grumpity Linden, and @Wulf Linden for participating in this thread and thank you to all for the entertaining comments. If I end up laying in bed staring at my ipad I'll probably end up looking at this thread. Otherwise, see everyone tomorrow.
  18. Sadly, I will have to go pretty soon and sleep myself. I'm a snow leopard. A cat. I've only been getting 18 hours of sleep a day lately! I'm sure you can imagine how that feels!
  19. The announced maintenance period was 4 days, the 13-16 (13, 14, 15, 16). That doesn't mean this outage will last all four days.
  20. Well, we know there has been a lot of work going on behind the scenes related to moving into the cloud. I am not a tech wizard, but that sounds to me like some pretty big work that is likely to involve some downtime. And maybe what's happening now is part of that?
  21. I think you made a typo when you meant to ask if the snow leopard would keep you for a pet. No, I will not be your pet. . . Uhhhh . . . I mean my friend won't be your pet.
  22. So, hypothetically . . . if a snow leopard were sitting on the servers and started shedding heavily because, you know, it's a move to a far warmer climate . . . would the shedding into the servers have this effect? Asking for a friend.
  23. I still can't login. I get a logins are disabled message. But see discussion about the login progress bar. Now that mine is full, I'm sure I will be able to login any minute!
