To one side past your neighbor is the Linden Road. To the other side past your neighbor is the Linden Ocean far below you. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Quentin/171/68/59 Opportunity to own some picturesque Moderate-Rated land at a bargain. $ 1250 Lindens for this 960 parcel. Have a park on the ground, & live in the sky if you prefer. Own instead of rent! Mainland Moderate Land Rating. And at ground's eye view:
  2. * THIS PARCEL IS NOW SOLD * View in front has been clear for ages. One of the oldest Second Life resident owns the roadside strip below. This parcel sits just below the very peak of a small hill. Very very quiet, nice neighborhood, GOOD neighbors. Hate to leave ;-) Moderate Land Rating. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Bradmoor/108/230/85 You can flatten it much more - I had a whole gazebo/deck/hot tub at ground level, fire pit below that, and lived in the sky. Plenty o' prims. Do what you want - it looks great rugged but you can make it much flatter. Parcel border shape is square. $ 3200 Lindens for this great quiet peace of mind parcel. OWN, don't rent. Pay once and it's YOURS. (No there is not an ocean, the road is not broken, that is a picture glitch.) Here you can see there is more for sale next to it if you need more hilltop land. They are asking a little more than me ;-)

You can make it totally flat, or you can keep one end raised like I have it & then you can drive onto the road. :)
  5. Get your free framed pictures and free slide show here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dallows/245/210/35 And for people who can only go to G rated places: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Krypto/38/125/53 They are from pictures I took/made myself, (Not downloads) So it's within TOS. I made the items also. Enjoy. Melita (Have some cake and champagne while you're there!)
  6. Thank you. :womanvery-happy: I was quite taken aback to see two of my places mentioned in the forums this week! You're all welcome any time.
  7. Go to the Fab Free blog, and go back a few pages. There is so much free for men reported in that blog. They recently had a ton of male skins on there too. You don't have to spend money to have a good Second Life; it's a choice.
  8. Caledon used to offer a room with rez rights to people who are new. I don't remember the time cutoff. After a certain point you can't rez there, I think. But while new it's a great deal. Maybe someone from Caledon can tell you if they still do that. I run a place where you can change in relative privacy for free (I did put in a tip jar after the first year, mainly because people asked for one, but it's not prominent, or required.) You can unpack and you can also join one of my two groups if you need a place to set home to. One home group is on Moderate land, and one is on G rated land. No one has joined the G group yet and I may eventually sell the land it's on to lower tier, so shake a leg, if anyone is interested. If no one joins within a few more months it seems silly to keep it. The Moderate rated group location is popular and so it's not going anywhere. I don't do the thing where anyone can rez permanently because it would just be too complicated for my budget (i.e. there isn't enough space to allow everyone their own individual permanent room.) But I do take input and feedback. If you search the Group tab for 'set home' you will find a lot of other groups. Groups you can join and have a place to set home. The Hobo camp in Calleta is one of the oldest. There are a lot of kind people in Second Life.
  9. /me peeks at movie list. Wow! I'm chuffed! /does a discreet happy dance. I didn't know BBC had a sim. I'll have to go and try it. I love the Redrum. Very atmospheric! There is a drive in cinema in The Wastelands. It took some doing to find it. It's on one corner of the Burnt Oak sim. (Moderate rated.) http://slurl.com/secondlife/Burnt%20Oak/199/215/81 This lands you on top of their snack bar. The Wastelands for anyone who hasn't heard of it, is a very old collection of sims. It's a post apocalyptic, bombed-out world. There is roleplay or you can just tour the sims. I hadn't been here in ages. It seemed to have original videos or Machinma on screen. There's a group along with the cinema for discussing film. "Burnt Oak Drive-In Enthusiasts." And another drive-in theater. This one is like the Jetsons. Many people have been to Inspire Space Park. This is the same people but with a drive in theater. It's at terrain level next to a road. I spoke with the owner, and they said this cinema shows old science fiction movies, mostly from the 1950s and 1960s. They personally checked and made sure the stream works now. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Shinda/106/191/26 (G rated) If I find more I will post again. I hope this post was not too long. I have problems being wordy when detail might be necessary.
  10. It isn't a choker but it's either The Dressing Room or The Dressing Room Blue, this week, has a bodysuit with long black feathers sticking sideways off one shoulder. You might like that. And it's only $40 Lindens.
  11. Do 50L Fridays - it seems like every store they feature looks like those clothes. Whippet & Buck is one, and I'm afraid that's all I remember right now. Lol Read the FabFree blog and other SL fashion blogs. They cover current SL fashion and trends. I'm sorry. If I can get in world I will edit this to give you more information.
  12. One way would just be verbally. Check local chat to see who bid first and how much. You could also do it all on a website. Or with scripts, but I wouldn't know what to advise you there.
  13. Here I am struggling to remember a name again. Someone help me out. Leonardo's...it has free diving suits, and other things to explore too. Then isn't there a Nautlius sim somewhere with a huge underwater submerged house or something? *sigh* I'd wait but I don't even know where to look to find a correct landmark. I'm hoping this will remind someone else what the names are. Have fun diving once you find some places.
  14. Here I go again. I don't mean to sound like a shill. I really don't! But there is a place in my picks where you can use a sailboat rezzer. As for rezzing your own boat, if you give some advance warning - a few days or so, a week even better - I can turn rez on for you. I turned it off because people were rezzing huge buildings there, and things like that, and that spoiled it for others. How long does one need to rez a boat by the way? Long enough just to rez it, or for the duration of sailing? There aren't any ban lines for a while. I can't say there are none ever. I'm not sure how far one can go. Other than this I would second the vote for Blake Sea or actually, primarily for that. That's what it's made for. There are also yacht clubs and such in world, and you can also buy a wearable boat in some shops.
  15. That is a really interesting idea. Kind of like a cross between Bentham Forest and a roleplay sim? I'm sorry I don't know of any but I think something like that would be a great addition to Second Life.
  16. There is no community attached to it as such so if you mean that, sorry for posting here. (Can we erase later?) But if you meant child avatar-friendly land, anything I own is, technically - it's all a safe zone. I just don't tolerate any type of avatar-based harassment. And then there's the big park and playground. It's in my picks. I hate to mention it but I also hate to see people floundering to find a place where they won't be harassed. Robin Sojourner Wood's sim is also really nice and a nice place to hang out for anybody. I'm drawing a blank on sim names today. I'm running on fizzled-out Pepsi. Lol Willowdale had a field trip to the park one day and they seemed like lovely people to a person. You couldn't go wrong joining there if you want a community I think.
  17. Rhett Elan wrote: Thanks for the great input so far. I know that there are merchands who will offer the transfer option. I agree with Angel, maybe we should all concentrate on those merchants who offer their items with " no copy" "allow transfer" option. Most of us have tons of items which we don't use anymore but would be greatly appriciated by others. It is all about helping others who are less fortunate to have a Happy SL life too. Once they see how many new things can be had for free - legally - they typically do not want to shop for second hand items. Also some people hesitate to take objects from strangers no matter how kindly intended. The item could be a griefing item just as easily. I definitely have seen a trend toward brand new, free items directly from the creators as opposed to exchanging or selling second hand things. For at least a year or more it's been like that. It is nice you want to help people.
  18. There is nothing on the Live Chat page below "Live Chat." In the 2nd browser tried, it does have "offline now" below that. It is possible that will work on Monday. It still doesn't help me for this weekend. :smileyindifferent: And in both browsers, the same error with the drop down menu not working once it tells me to properly choose something there. (When I already had.) So that makes me skeptical about the Live Chat working on the second browser either. It has been like this a while. I just assumed it was fixed a long time ago.
  19. I'm at concierge level, and I still can't. I've used it many times in the past. Mine just is not there on the page any more. I've tried on two browsers now. It will probably take a phone call to straighten out. I just hope that does it. (Thanks, anyway, Venus.)

    AutoReturn

Liisa Runo wrote: Can you think of some better technical solution to the problem? Anyone? How about an On/Off button for Auto Return - maybe in addition to the ability to set a length of time for the return. Then people might understand what it does. How about a pop up Info button on some of the land tabs.

    AutoReturn

Liisa Runo wrote: One of the biggest problems in mainland: Lack of autoreturn / people to clean the parcels from random mess. Only reason i can think of for not having autoreturn is that when you are in the process of changing the ownership of land and want the objects to stay there while you are changing the group of the objects. Been in SL about 3 years and only had to do it once. And for almost region size land, it took about an hour. Been wondering why so many parcels dont have autoreturn enabled. If some of you know more reasons to not have autoreturn, please tell me, i really want to know. I just posted on this same problem. Auto return default should be ON in my opinion, at least when people abandon land. Most people do not know it exists. I really think that is the reason most people have Auto Return off (technically, set to zero - if there were an on and off button it might be more clear to them what it means.) The result is that as long as abandoned land sits with Auto Return at zero, the neighbors can be griefed, or watch a parade of squatters, many of whom break TOS in various other ways while there. I've seen people squat on G land selling sex toys, and too many squatters rezzing mile high junk to count. We were recently also griefed on one sim, but it wasn't as big a problem for us as for the nearby home owners. Someone rezzed some boxes on abandoned land that were really malicious.
  23. I will read this more in depth later. I just wanted to say I hope the default for abandoned land will be Auto Return ON (2 minutes for instance in the Object panel.) Between squatters and griefers, leaving abandoned land at Auto Return Off/ set to zero is asking for trouble. A parcel of mine was recently badly griefed that way - as was the entire sim which included many home owners. Abandoned land had many grief boxes on it. Either someone bought that land, or the Lindens cleaned it up, but for a while it was impossible even to go near it.
  24. I've seen some gems too. That photo is one for the album, though. Are they like locusts? Never really became extinct and come out in force every few years?
