I check my sim stats regularily and they run very little script time. I have well over a hundred of them and the sim runs great. You can also choose between more than 6 activity levels to accomodate your parcel. I have not had breedables before because of the lag they create but these are really different and just lovely company. This. Anyone saying otherwise is speaking out their tail. It's the first breedable I've had any interest in either, for the above reasons. This, despite a rather unpleasant run-in with one of the creators. Still, a good product is a good product (I see many things I wish I could change, or suggest for the future, but I'll save that due to what I just mentioned.) They are fun little creatures, and that is what SL should be about, in my opinion. Fun.
  2. The mysterious maestro, Soda Lemondrop. Really funny videos on you tube, Soda.
  3. Go with what you like and makes you feel best - it's your money. I love my Maschienenwerk sneakers, and I'm glad I got the colors I wanted before it disappeared from search again. (Does anyone know what happened? I hope he didn't leave Second Life.) The store seems to go from parcel to parcel fairly often, so it can be hard to track down. Last I saw a lot of the freebie stuff wasn't there any more. I tried to tip when I went but I doubt many people did - and that tier is a killer. So I wouldn't blame him if he did shut down shop. (If you didn't know, Maschienenwerk had great, original freebies, for men and some for women, for years.) I sometimes wear a pair of sandals I got at Chuculet for 1 Linden. Although you said you have given up on HUD shoes, I'm going to post a link to the 60L weekend website anyway. Check every Saturday morning, and there will be a couple of hundred new things for sale for 60L. They often have some "HUD shoes" in there with the sculpty feet - for 60L a pair. I'm going to post that link in case anyone lurking in the topic might be interested. Do you still want some landmarks or SLurls here (or both) to regular shoes? Say if you do, and I'll do that when I'm in world next. http://picasaweb.google.com/60LindenSunday/Official60LPhotos# I love that they have a photo gallery with SLurls to use. I wish 50L Friday did the same thing. I got muted in the 50L group for being helpful! LOL (One less group slot though. Woot) You'll perhaps find in SL that some creators/owners are amazing, and love when other people help promote, cheerlead, or give info about them. Others? Couldn't fit their ego into an airplane hangar. So I tend not to cheerlead for them But I'd mention them anyway, for the person's sake, if there were a photo/SLurl page like 60L Weekends has. 60L Weekends goes on twice as long anyway - all weekend until midnight Sunday SL time. And every creator I've gotten to know through there has been awesome. Hope that helps someone.

  5. Thanks for that positive contribution to the topic. Meeroo are not lag monsters, or I wouldn't have any. Besides that, I have way more prims than I am rezzing anything animated. I have checked sim stats and the sims are performing very well. I really doubt my handful of Meeroo on my half region is hurting anything or anybody. How much do you know about them really, and why did you try to turn this into an argument? It's meant to be a postiive community sharing type of topic. Meeroo 'sleep' when no avatar is nearby, and I've put them in less trafficked areas of any land they are on, which I own and pay tier for. I'm not crowding a small parcel to the gills with as many as I can fit in. I have two Meeroo on another parcel which is about 20k meters, much of the rest of the sim is empty, as it happens. The other land owner has some horses at land and sky levels, so I doubt he cares either. Why do you?
  6. You're very welcome! If you stop by any of my places in my Picks (they're mine, except Minke Bailey's furniture store, which is for Picks gifts, and because she's so nice) then say Hello. There are some Men's hunts about to begin, if your avatar is male. Menstuff begins - well it began today, and there are various other hunts going on. There are usually blogs to go with each hunt, with locations and hints. This year the Menstuff hunt unfortunately requires group membership to get the hunt gifts. Hunts are also a good way to explore the grid. And you get a free gift at each location. Someone compared it to geocaching, which isn't far off.
  7. Josephina Bonetto wrote: I got my first meero today, Lulzy, and I don't do breedables. He lives in my outdoor club via my picks on my profile. I bought him from a friend. He likes visitors but I'm still figuring it all out. Congrats! Aren't they cute? I'm still learning too. I'm trying to figure out what the whole 'fellowship' thing means. I want to do this experiment where I see what comes from just waiting for the boxed meeroo to have offspring. Then, mix those up (they won't breed with close relatives btw), and see, until at least three generations. Then I might, probably, open up the breeding program to other people's/guest Meeroos (Lol.) All that to say that, if you keep just one of course no worries about its breeding, you'd only need to buy it food, or turn it into a pet with their 1500 $L one-use pet food. But, if you did want to, without buying another Meeroo, I could add you to my Fellowship at some point and then your Meeroo could eat the food at my locations, and your Meeroo could er fall in love with a compatible Meeroo of its choice. (They're not all compatible to breed - it's based on the personality types.) In other words see how it goes and if you want to branch out a bit, later on, give me an IM shout Wildcat: Thanks so much! Everyone, she has tons of Meeroo and some horses and it's very impressive. Very organized stables, with them divided into little families. So cute.
  8. It's not unconventional. Your enthusiasm is a happiness injection around here. Lol. My groups are full up, but I am sure some will take you up on your offer. And, you can always steer the IMVU pilgrims into the forums. Take care.
  9. Are you in Basic Mode in the viewer?
  10. I stalk the lucky chairs at Xan Shoutcast and use the radios on my land. Anyone can change the stations, and the radios in the lucky chairs are free. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Horsa/89/10/90 Comes in a handful of styles, too. I should probably mention their regular stock has more features.
  11. Yes just practice building in a sandbox or at NCI. Depending what size parcel of land you are talking about and how good your building skills are, that's not actually a very equitable tradeoff. For instance I have a number of very fine houses and skyboxes and other buildings I got for free or for 50 Lindens or less. If someone has tier out the ears and is in a sporting mood maybe they will take you up on your offer. Good luck.
  12. Do you mind if I ask if your avatar is male, female, non human, or other? Or have you decided yet. Only reason I ask is because it would help to steer you toward things for your avatar. There are lots of freebies to be found in Second Life. Look for gifts or freebie boxes in a prominent place in every store you go in. Try the freebie route first, until you get acclimated and figure out what you really want. Then you won't end up with a lot of junk in your Inventory (cough, like I did.) Start organizing your Inventory as soon as you begin buying. Open inventory and choose Create New Folder. Right click this folder in your Inventory, and choose rename, and type the name of the folder. You will want to sort things by general category, then more specific. You can do that in one folder or put many folders into a general category folder. You will need to create all of these folders. See what I mean about getting complicated? So just start out with one outfit you like. When you buy something or when you open a box it goes into your Inventory. Begin with one of everything to make your avatar look better, unless you don't care in which case, don't. Land ownership? You don't need to. You might have a freebie house. You can get those. What you can't get in Second Life is free land. I have a place in my Picks where you can change clothes, open boxes, (just don't open huge things) and two locations you can set home in. One is on G land, one is on Moderate land. There are other groups like that in Search/Groups. Use a phrase like Set Home Here. Read the rules and fine print of any group you join or land you rent. For now just explore and figure out what you really want. That's my main advice. Don't need to own a home or even rent one (home = land, place to set home to.) As I said above some places let you set home there for free. Otherwise you are in a hub, not everyone minds that either. One way to explore is to Picks Surf. Open someone's profile, pick a place in their Picks and go there. Keep doing that. You'd be surprised how many nice places you can find that way! (By adult community do you mean XXX? I'm not sure what you meant. This is a G rated forum so that isn't something to be discussed in depth here. Ask around for landmarks to adult places or in Zindra, and explore.)
  13. Lexie Linden wrote: Hi Just wondering how many of you simply keep every friendship card you ever got? I know I do! :smileyvery-happy: Or do you clean them out once in awhile for people you have not talked to in a long time? Hmm, that makes me wonder what the average number of friendship cards is....:matte-motes-nerdy: A couple of years ago I deleted every.single.friend on my friend list. Looking through it I had realized that I didn't even know who most were. Others I only heard from at major holidays when they sent a photo of themself. For all of that, I kept getting notices any time each of them logged in or out. At the time I was trying to build, and create something different, and I had a lot on my mind. The constant blue pop ups that so and so is in Second Life now were driving me bonkers. Since then I've been very selective about it. It's awkward when someone neglects to read my 'philosophy' on The List in my profile and/or sends me a friendship offer anyway. That is almost always someone I just met that day, or who I've talked to for five minutes. Sometimes I feel they think it's expected, sometimes I think it's so they won't forget my name, sometimes it's because it's a habit for them. In all of those cases, for me, the proper response is "sorry, no." The only time I like to accept or to be added is if there is some real reason for it. Someone I am spending a ton of time with, that might need to look me up often. Someone I'm in 'business' with for want of a better phrase (I don't do anything to make money here, but otherwise, definitely have worked as if I do.) might also be okay. But if I'm really honest, the word "friend" is sacred to me, and I prefer to feel as if someone really thinks of me that way, and me of them, before I say yes. It all might sound a bit precious but that's really how I feel. I never delete calling cards though. There is no reason to. I wish there were an option to just send those instead.
  14. I like SLink, for me those are the easiest to match to skin tone. Other brands take forever and still do not work or come out green, orange, coal black, anything but whatever they need to be. That's the only advice I can give other than there used to be instructions on the What Not To Wear SL blog, but, even that, doesn't fully help if the HUD is stupid. And yes I gave up on most sculpty feet most of the time. No one's really looking at my feet anyway and if they are not great I think why bother. Sometimes I will wear a SLInk shoe. Regular shoes I can put on and go are much more appealing though.
  15. I think the words vary according to language/culture, hopefully the OP knows everyone here is trying to help. Sometimes words can be too fussy, or PC. I don't care if someone calls me white, Caucasian, honky, whatever so long as it's done with affection or humor. Call me gringa and there might be a fight. Lol (In some places it's not meant very nice at all.)
  16. Angelskiss2007 wrote: I would assume that I would want to set things to NOT copy, probably NOT customize, and then allow Transfer? Are these typical settings? I'd love to get some opinions on typically settings that creators use for their products. Modify, Copy, and Transfer are the permissions available. It all depends upon the product. For some things people love to have copy ability. I try not to buy plants or trees or landscaping flowers/ground cover which are not copyable. That's because I like to be able to put as many as I need to, and it's very hard to tell until it's on the land, how many I will need exactly. If something is very cheap and great quality, I might spring for no copy on that type of thing. For clothing, things that need resizing, most people want to be able to modify a skirt, cuff, etc. Same with hair. Because of possible copybotting for a while resize scripts were popular. Now, because of possible upcoming sim script limits, modify is gaining ground again (just regular modifyable prims.) Sculpts that are worn need to fit, so really must be modifyable somehow. For most personal items the most popular permission set is modify, copy, no transfer. This means they can change the fit or shape of a prim, lengthen or shorten a glitch pant for instance, rename it something easier to find in search, and put it in more than one folder for easier inventory sorting. No transfer means they can never give it away or resell it. Some people prefer no copy, no modify, yes transfer, if the item is something they want to give as a gift, or be able to resell later. Some things do not require more than one copy, and do not need to or are better if not modified, so those would be good candidates for this permission set. Some houses or skyboxes might be mod copy no transfer, and some might be no mod no copy yes transfer. It would depend on what their features were. Sorry I lost my train of thought a bit as the phone took me away a while. But ask if anything is unclear.
  17. The easiest way to set something for sale is to rez a prim, put the product image on it, put the product inside the prim, and set the host prim to sell contents for (price.) Make sure you know how to set permissions on your products before you do that. Join NCI and take some of their building classes. I'm sure many other people will tell you that also. They are supportive and very good at setting the basics as a foundation for you. You also get a copy of the class notes when you leave. If your time in world is limited, I think they also have a website with past class notes on it. Someone else can verify or deny that. There are many you tube tutorial videos for various things in Second Life. Some are very good in fact most are. There are readable (web) tutorials online from Robin Sojourner Wood and one called The Mermaid Diaries. Sorry I don't have those links but you can try google. I admire your enthusiasm. Good luck.
  18. Yeah, try Free Shapes by Clarissa, a friend of mine, has two female Asian shapes, and all her stuff is free. It's in search. Sorry I'm not in world right now to grab a SLurl for you.
  19. I would encourage everyone to visit Wildcat's Meeroo - I stopped by and it so happened she was there when I did. We had a nice chat, and I petted some of her Meeroo. Petting someone else's Meeroo raises the comfort level of their Meeroo if it is below 100% at the time. It also increases your own "Regard" in your HUD, which helps you to level up, and I'm not sure what more. But it's also just fun. I promise to stop by the other locations next time I am in Second Life. The HUD will only allow petting other people's Meeroo up to 10 individual Meeroo every hour, or every four hours, or something like that...So next time I'm in world I will make the next round.
  20. valerie Inshan wrote: Melita, I bought one meeroo last night and now I would like to know how to turn it to a regular pet. It is sooooo lovely but I 'am really not into the breeing thing, lol! :smileyvery-happy: You buy a special food for it. That turns it into a pet. It won't run away, won't need to eat, and won't ever breed. It wasn't until after I had bought the meeroo that I read the fine print: The special pet food cost 1500 per Meeroo. Ouch! Hippie: Awww. Thanks for the post. I warn anybody, these things are addictive, like chocolate and raspberries. I got the fave Meeroo set up with some mates, finally; he has his own sky condo to get his groove going - LOL - Now I can go pet people's Meeroo from this topic as I had promised. Woot. BTW I put in a treasure finder tonight. The official shops don't sell those but, there are several to choose from on Marketplace. I got a middle of the range priced mushroom for 350L that detects treasure - this after I missed out on four treasures within a few minutes! Treasure only stays out for about 10 minutes then it texts you that it's gone. Wish I had known that beforehand! So I recommend putting a treasure finder near your Meeroo. (ETA: I hear the cheaper ones work just as nicely.) Treasures the Meeroos dig up help raise your game level, and other stuff, I'm not sure what.
  21. I added another Meeroo location - this one is in the sky so wear your flight feather/flight band just in case. This one isn't too fancy yet either. I just haven't had time to set up the fancy stuff yet. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Binneed/91/167/3453 One male to three compatible females up there. Woohoo! I wanted to find a mate for my favorite and did I ever. Lol They all came from the treasure chest so it was serendipitous.
  22. Can't patent an idea. A method, but not an idea. As long as you are making your own creations from the ground up, using materials you created or bought and use within their 'note card contract' that came with them, you are not doing anything wrong. Shabby chic cottage is a huge category, and you would not be stealing anything if the above is the case. No more so than an architect who builds a ranch house would be stealing from Frank Lloyd Wright.
  23. LoveAngeL Lyre wrote: They look sooooo cute! :smileyhappy: Thanks! They are, aren't they? The physical appearance, animation and AI are very well and cleverly done. When my 'favorite meeroo' leapt into my arms, I was sunk. Wildcat: What a gorgeous habitat. I'm impressed! Wow. And...OMG that one is enormous! LOL I'll stop by everyone's habitat and see to their Meeroo I promise. I think the HUD will only allow 10 (other people's) Meeroo to be pet per hour but I'll work it out. (Edited cos: I meant AI, not AO. Lol)
  24. Great, that all sounds fun. Sounds like you are on the right track with it all. Thanks for stopping in on the Meeroo. They really are cute - reminds me of a cross between a rabbit and a guinea pig. If you do adopt any, you're welcome to join my Fellowship if you want - if you didn't have another. (You can only join one. So I'm not insulted if you don't.) Re: joining a family. Might want to take some time on that. Get used to exploring kid stuff, get used to Second Life if you are new, meet lots of people. The downside of all that, from what I hear, is that it can all be fly by night. People latch onto others and then vanish from Second Life. So, go on a long "trial period" if you go the adoption agency route, or just hang out places and get to know the people behind the avs, first. (I don't mean in a RL way, just, their sense of obligation.) I see too many profiles with sad posts about people who vanished. Best luck with it all.
