  1. giant sculpty mushroom. Suddenly I heard...
  2. Gorgeous hair. Does it use a hairbase? Does it require V2?
  3. You're welcome. Enjoy. I see Hard Knock Elementary is enrolling. There is a topic about that in another forum here somewhere. Maybe someone else here knows more about Hard Knock.
  4. Thanks so much! I know they will appreciate it. As do I! There are free HUDs in a box near each setting.
  5. Thanks for the replies. Valerie: I always felt that way about breedables, too. One thing that won me over while reading up on these is that if I get bored in future, get tired of buying food, or just am not good at it, I can turn them into regular pets, to similar effect. All they can't do then is breed. But they also never need to eat again or anything else except hop around your land. Lol You're welcome to come pet my Meeroo anytime you want. Storm: noooo! I'll set out a shish-kebab detector to protect my new lil' darlings. Griffin: Looks pretty awesome! I didn't have time yet to make any sort off fabulous setting as I've seen some people have for their Meeroo. This morning I was trying to think of different habitats I might set up for them. (And Storm, none of those include a grill!) Griffin I'll stop by your friend's Meeroo zoo next time I am in world. Thanks Who else has Meeroo and what do you think about them?
  6. You are more than welcome to visit Family Park. It's gotten bigger and bigger, and there is lots for a child avatar (and their family) to do. It stretches from one end overlooking Linden ocean, to the top of the hill, next door to a cinema which plays cartoons 24/7. Everything is, of course, free to use. It's G rated land, so anything inappropriate should be reported, as the greeting mat says. Recent additions are a teacup ride and a few Meeroo to pet. I try to change things all the time. I took this park over (from a willing/busy friend), and have done my best to improve it ever since. Sign our guest book while there. If you want to see what some others have thought of it, click the guest book there to read past entries. You will definitely meet other "kids" there if you drop in often enough. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Krypto/43/208/69 Have fun!
  7. Ask them to submit pix taken there. Either pix taken within Second Life or pix sent to computer. I don't know if the creation date can be faked, but you should be able to check properties and see. You could go with the one with the earliest photo. Of course, if a sim had the first build but never takes pix they'd be out of luck. I'm banking on the assumption that most people who build or create also record what they rez.
  8. Games have been around in Second Life for a while. Type games in search, you should get many results. Greedy Greedy, things like that. Also there are basketball games. I have some on my Favorites list, in case I ever make room somewhere to put one. The thing I like perhaps best about Second Life is that there is something for everyone. I hope it never goes just all one way over all others. As for racing tracks some were made long ago, I've seen other ones that have much improved physics. Someone recently gave me a car ride for the ocean, and the cars on it stay on the track no matter what. I'm sure that could happen for go karts and tracks.
  9. Meeroo...the mythical creature, the breedable pet, and the interactive social network. They are now in Second Life. Do you have a Meeroo zoo? Do your Meeroo need some attention? If you have Meeroo then you know your Meeroo are happier if they are often petted and held. You can't always be there, so the Meeroo HUD allows anyone to pet them in your absence. This way it becomes a social network, with fellowships, or even just random act of meeroo kindness strangers who will go from Meeroo location to location helping out. It's a great way to meet people, and turns out it's also really soothing and fun. And it's free just to wear the HUD. So I thought I'd invite you all to "Pet My Meeroo" and in return if you post your Meeroo pix and location here I will come and pet yours too. Tell us about your pets, and let's go help each other out, visit each other's Meeroo and explore Second Life and meet some new people. Meet my Meeroo. (I have zero affiliation with the people who make them, just got mine yesterday. It's the first breedable I had any interest in and already I'm floored by these things. So I want to hear about yours too.) :) I have two locations so far. One location is at Mermaid Beach, Moderate land rating. They are playing on a small patio up near the CR. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Binneed/9/219/32 Here they are hatching: And in closeup: The second (so far) location is at the G rated children's park. The Meeroo are playing up by the playhouse. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Krypto/43/208/69 Here, three of them newly hatched, go to their home stump to commune with...whatever MeeRoo think about. One of them leapt into my arms.
  10. Why pay that when you can get a used region for as little as 250 dollars. I was very tempted to buy that one myself but my tier is high enough! Join 'For Sale by Owner' group in Second Life. When someone wants to dump their region you could be waiting.
  11. Having seen your pix posted in the forum in the past I'd say you're much prettier and younger-looking than your av. Hopefully that's taken as compliment or at least, as (my) truth. I know you strive for realism but we all see ourselves through different mirrors. To the OP: How large was your spider avatar? Did it have a HUD you hadn't tested before? Is it possible when you turned around or hit a HUD button it bonked somebody, even unintentionally? The rest has pretty much been said, on both sides of the discussion.
  12. You are all welcome. Thank you for the posts. LiveReport thank you for the additional pic. Isn't the Wall in SL beautifully realized. Hope everyone had a peaceful Memorial Day. Thanks too to everyone for this thread remaining peaceful, too.
  13. Places to go in order to observe Memorial Day weekend. Memorial Day honors the fallen in the various branches of the military, as well as other service groups such as firemen, first responders, police, search and rescue, patriots. Many of whom died in past wars or 9/11. Here are some places to go and to pay your respects. If you know of other places which should be in this topic please add them. *PLEASE I BEG OF EVERYONE DO NOT TURN THIS TOPIC INTO ANY SORT OF DEBATE* Have some respect. Memorial Day weekend is also a three day holiday weekend in the USA. So some people also get together with their families. Any celebrations of that type within Second Life, can also be included here. 14. Re: Skyboxes at about 50 meters high or less. I think that some people do this because: They don't know how to push the skybox or whatever up past that height They are squatting and want something easy to get to, and could care less about local aesthetics They are afraid of heights (some people are, even in Second Life) and like to feel 'grounded' but don't want to lose the green space below They simply like it that way And rarely, perhaps, They want to annoy the neighbor(s) I don't like the aesthetic either, but as long as it isn't coupled with a fast or aggressive or out of range security orb that hurtles people 'home' or worse, I can't see it as automatically antisocial. I put my own sky stuff wayyy up there and try my best not to be adjacent to anyone else's sky builds either. But you can't do much about what others do. ________ ETA: I can't resist...I don't have a SLurl for a mainland with a no skybox covenant, BUT, I'd like to invite you to visit my park Torley if you haven't. It has a whirlycopter rezzer, and if you take it past 100 m high, before you fly out of the park area, you won't hit ban lines (or - orbs last I checked) for ages - I've tried. And not TOO much junk. With sunset setting I steered toward the sun. I did go up to 1000 meters or higher quickly. I also put in a watermelon house some time ago, it was just in inventory when I was looking for something for that spot, but you might like that too. Long as you are out there exploring. (Park = G land in Picks)
  15. It's OK to get your bearings and make do with free stuff until you figure out what you really want most in Second Life. If you can buy about five real dollars worth of LIndens here on the website you will be able to have some spending money, for shopping, uploads, tips, etc. But it isn't obligatory. If you've been reading blogs you probably know about the freebie blogs. Those can be a good way to explore the grid, and get the newbie look off your avatar, if that matters to you. And if you can never get a job in Second Life or never afford to upload any money, then you will find a thank you IM or note card to sim owners whose sims you enjoy or appreciate goes a long way too. And it doesn't cost a dime.
  16. In the About Land panel, go to the Objects tab. Set the 0 number there to 1 or higher. The objects not owned by you or by your group will return to their owners. Someone probably has a skybox or invisible items up in the sky somewhere. They could be tiny bits of space junk or could be something someone put there on purpose. Either way this should solve it.
  17. Join Fabulously Free in SL - it's a group. They send a lot of notices and it's a very active chat group, so if you'd rather not have those going on in world, just read their blog. http://fabfree.wordpress.com FabFree's in world HQ (headquarters/shop) is crowded with freebies. Click anything you want on the walls or the floor displays. It is all free. Men's things too. Al Vulo is a wonderful resource for female skins - a free group gift about once every month. You do have to join their group. Heartsick has 10L skins on a shelf upstairs, past freebies & etc. It's all just in knowing where the best freebies are. We all buy ugly stuff or pick up the old freebies when we first join Second Life. Easy to remedy. And it's shopping, so have fun.
  18. I have some pose and sit balls on my beach, which is in my picks. Also a few group ones in my park, also in my picks. At the beach look for two surfboards in the water. Both are pose boards. No backdrops, just actual scenery.
  19. Fun places. I love amusement parks and acting silly at times. Great way to blow off steam. Not everything needs to be Hallmark card romantic. YMMV.
  20. There is a ton of land for sale in Bay City right now. It's pricey, but you can join various groups once you own land there; and they are active and supportive of community and business efforts of one another. It would be a great place to begin a new business, if the land price doesn't put you off.
  21. Check my picks for places to try. I don't spam visitors with pop ups (well, the park has one as a greeting, but only once per visit/per day - the other places, there is no greeting, or it's in local chat text only.) There are no spammed landmark givers (I leave people to take one the old fashioned way in their menu) and any note card givers are opt-in only. You can hang out in relative peace, or so it's intended. I have locations in Moderate and G rated land, as well as Home Groups in both as well. The Home Groups on offer are in my profile. Everything is free. The Forum Cartel group chat and hangout are good for just chatting, or meeting various types of people, too. I stopped going to SL clubs a while ago. I think there's a point at which it isn't fun any more, just like RL. Oh I just noticed you hate animals making sounds. I love those and there are a few of those in the land I have but you can avoid them easily. Just don't stand near one. Lol
  22. "Always remember to bring a clean towel."
  23. Not just for their great products, but shops that are a lot of fun to just hang out in or explore the sim they are on. Shops that make shopping a visually exciting experience, or put tons of fun t hings to do around. Here is a shop I recently 'discovered.' New to me at least. It's called "Never You Mind," with a main store on their own island, as well as a location in Bay City. Some pix from my shopping experience there. I had a blast testing all their flying and sailing products and more. And it begins... Sailing around the island. I felt just like Huck Finn. Hopped aboard a UFO, and flew around the island looking for signs of life. When I hopped out of the UFO, it told me it was going home, since it saw no sign of intelligent life anywhere near. (LOL!) I was not offended. Besides, I can fly on my own. ;) Rest stop after shopping all day. (Hey - shut the door!) It is a very fun shop, with tons of unusual creations. I came home with tons of things. I hope you will check it out soon!
  24. Well, there is a small cinema on G land which shows old, royalty-free cartoons 24/7 - and has a few arcade games next to it. Uptown Cinema in Krypto. If you want arcade games though, I'd go to the source, but now offhand I can't remember who makes them all. Maybe someone else can? They have a big sim with all their games for sale as well as a nearby 7seas fishing pier.
