  1. I think it helps to see the service interaction. Although as a consumer, I am not really as concerned with the review if there is a demo, and an occasional bad review is non consequential. If I read the review (on a product that offers a demo) it is generally to look for something I should be aware of and pay attention too, rather then the decision to see the demo or not. Charlotte, over the years I have contacted you with random questions (we've run into each other on occasion too) and your responses have always been prompt, professional and pleasant. So I am quite confident that anyone that tries to get a hold of you can do so.
  2. I agree with Whirly, so I am not going to re-iterate any of her points, but I will say that it is possible that the person you are referring too is using full perm products that were stolen from another content creator unbeknownst to them. It is also equally plausible that they are lying to you. Either way, content creators have an obligation to source the full perm materials they intend to use. Just blindly assuming that the person you purchased those goods from holds license, could have consequences. All you can do is contact the original content creator and let them know that you saw another vendor using their assets. With that said, I am sure there is some anonymity over what specific action is taken and under what circumstances (threshold). This would be to prevent people from circumventing the system to their advantage.
  3. Why? It is an income source for LL. People who pay to play or those who frequent strip clubs also buy Linden. If you don't care for it, it is easy to avoid.
  4. You have so much vision, expertise, and platform knowledge, and that is clearly demonstrated throughout your many posts. How did we manage before someone with your resume, the "serial entrepreneur" came to be.
  5. This is what happens when you try to approach the owner about their fireplace. Watch out for them pokers!
  6. The body you have has limited functionality and does not include a HUD. The Alpha layer included with the package (see above) is merely to hide the default avatar. In order to get the Alpha HUD, and access to additional features, you'd have to purchase the full version. TMP did something like this with their bodies as well.
  7. I don't know how long that carousel been posted for sale, but the listing says that they only intend on selling it for a limited time (one week). Nice touch to drive urgency! lmao.
  8. The questions were legitimate, but also rather presumptuous. Having business sense is good, as is knowing the landscape and climate to conduct that business. A new set of eyes always brings a fresh perspective (and that is welcome), but if you're unfamiliar with SL, the concepts suggested here might seem alien. The OP came to a public forum asking for feedback and that is what they received. Instead of discrediting people, he/she should take note of what they said, and use that as a basis for further research. It seems to me however, that regardless of what's said in opposition, that the OP seems to know better then everyone else. By all means, don't take anyone's word and do as you will. So far I've seen someone who thinks they know it all, and yet doesn't even know what they don't know yet. If I was in their shoes, I'd at least listen, take notes, and be appreciative of the feedback that could save you a fortune.
  9. Here ya go Wynn. Skill Gaming Before you think you found the cure for cancer, you might wanna get your feet wet first.
  10. Klytyna wasn't trying to be rude, she was giving you honest and direct feedback. If something is purchased with fraudulent funds, how is it you expect to be paid for those goods? If a customer purchases product with either a stolen credit card (online or in-store) or with fraudulent bills, that becomes a loss for the retailer. The same basic principle applies here. Based on the very limited information you did provide, the story just doesn't seem to add up. With that said, you don't have to take anyone's word for it, you can of course contact an attorney for yourself and see what they recommend.
  11. I'd also point out, and someone correct me if I'm wrong but, I believe the new user count is including alts. So anyone currently in SL that is creating an alt, would constitute a new account. Chic is spot on though, the world is massive and with the counts currently where they are, it can still seem deserted in most areas. The destination guide like Tari pointed out is not really a great tool and could use an overhaul with the help of some input from the community. It was a great idea, executed poorly IMO. There are people on this forum more educated on the subject then I, but from my understanding the time for easy money in land ownership is over.
  12. The starter avi's do their job. Could they be better? Sure, I suppose they could be, but they fit the role they were intended for. As a hypothetical, even if they were, I suspect that a lot of people wouldn't use them long-term anyway. People want to customize their avatar to their own liking in whatever shape or form that may be. The desire to experience that starts almost immediately, as in their first day, or even those few subsequent days after. I don't believe they were made sub-par intentionally, as Tari pointed out, they aren't creators. The selling point, in my opinion, is seeing what is possible. When I was new in 2011, I was enamored by all the awesome avi's I saw. I think that experience still resonates even today. New users lack general direction. That I believe, hurts retention more then anything.
  13. I bought the Extreme Superbike and I love it. It was previously 4800L and now only 777L. Even before the price drop, it was a popular bike. He used to have them out on display in-world but I think he no longer does. JC Hill is the creator and in my dealings with him in the past, he was super friendly and helpful. The product has a ton of reviews, so that should help give you an idea of what to expect. Hope that helps! Extreme SuperBike SL Marketplace
  14. Regardless, the AG can still take action. Third party vendors could be denied or suspended from future distribution through Amazon, receive fines, or a host of other things. Amazon already took action and shut down multiple vendors that were found to be price gouging. I don't know what the prices are like up your way, but in my area they aren't anywhere remotely close to that. For example, the 24 Pack of Poland Spring that's listed for $36.72—I can buy 3 of those for $11 in my area. The only way that price would even remotely make sense is doing priority overnight shipping for an AM delivery the following day, which this was not.
  15. If this becomes a means of lowering costs. That would be good for consumers and for businesses.
  16. I am sure there are a lot of landlords that would be sympathetic if given the opportunity, but if they don't know where you live, or you haven't reached out to them beforehand—how is it they are going to know if your absence from SL is intended or not. That is just simply expecting too much. You said yourself that you, or some others would have paid the rent had you known it was due. I believe you would have, but it wasn't. So how is it the landlord is at fault? Any extension beyond what is paid for is at the landlords discretion. That discretion to be influenced by knowing the facts. At the end of the day, they have a business to run. Many don't make a profit, but instead take money out of their own pocket monthly to operate these sims. I am sure the they would have gladly taken that payment and extended the lease for you and your friends had they been given the opportunity.
  17. These were the prices leading up the storm. At that time the product could still be delivered. The Florida AG had a hotline setup for people to report price gouging.
  18. I was just reading an article from NBC about the insane price gouging going on for essential supplies. Disgusting! Apparently it isn't limited to just water. These companies should be ashamed of themselves. Ahead of Irma, Outrage Toward Sky-High Amazon Water Prices
  19. My statement was an addition to what Pussycat had already said earlier in the thread (referring to buying an Omega skin). That's why I didn't specify it again. That skin refers to Omega. So not incorrect, maybe confusing for some.
  20. You want to look for the "body appliers" specific to your Maitreya body. The kit will generally include either one, or all tones (varies by brand). Prices also vary, but generally a lot of them cost roughly 300L or so. If you go the Omega route, you will have to purchase a relay kit, which is an extra cost (100L), but it will allow you to wear that skin universally on any other body or attachment which is Omega compatible.
  21. Last night I couldn't be bothered, tonight I actually wanted to login and work on my avi and you know how the rest goes
  22. I think this picture concludes this app shouldn't be used for any type of evidence as far as age goes lol /fail
