  1. I've hosted in clubs in SL on and off since 2007, and I've never seen a host or a DJ flip out due to lack of tips. Ever. If they had, I'm confident they'd have been tossed out on their ear, never to return. As a host, I love to see the crowd hopping and people having a good time. Tips are what I make for being there, but everyone having fun is my favorite payment Also, thanks for mentioning the stupid scripting on tip jars that announces amounts, etc. I need to go through mine and adjust any scripts that are like that. I've been planning to and never remember until a set is already in full swing
  2. I swear, it takes me forever to find the most popular stores. Like Neve. Sigh. On the plus side, I was able to coordinate The Eldritch Horror's* outfit with mine *As a side note, she is much less of a horror since I took the "angry" expression out of her rotation. There's actually very little resemblance to the Bride of Chucky anymore.
  3. Coffee. Coffee is good. Now if I can only remember to see if I can edit the auto-rezzing mug's position Erm... also, pay no attention to the small eldritch horror crawling away in the background...
  4. I sprayed coffee out of my nose at this. Thank you! Well, my keyboard doesn't thank you, but my need for a morning guffaw is outweighing my peripheral hardware's offense
  5. I was getting my alt (named oh-so-creatively AjayMcDowwll Alter -- obviously I wasn't going for anonymity!) all meshed up so my husband can use her as a model when he's working on his clothing stuff. This way he has a little doll to dress up, and I'm not stuck putting on and taking off endless dresses textured with bacon. No, I am not kidding... he's got a weird sense of humor I used my same shape, head (Genus Classic), body (Maitreya), skin (Adam & Eve), and hair (Truth -- Bloom in this case, although I'm wearing Farryn). The picture gives me some serious uncanny valley vibes. Yikes! But still, it totally had to happen (also, I'm wearing makeup and my alt isn't, because bless her heart, I spent enough just getting her to this point... that may come later)
  6. My husband has run into the same issue with hair as OP. For the past 12+ years he's been bemoaning the lack of a decent flattop in SL, so he's now teaching himself Blender in the hopes that he can make one. For us, we've finally just gone with white hair (the greys often seem to have a yellowish cast, and I spend enough time RL trying to nuke that from my 90%+ nearly-white hair -- SL does NOT come with a purple shampoo option). I tend to use Truth, and Synapse has thrown his hands up in the air and is just wearing a white hair base. I hope he's successful in his hair-making adventures. If so, I'll also mention the extreme dearth of hairline options to him. Regarding appliers that mimic skin imperfections and aging, none of them work quite right on me. They add texture but that's juxtaposed against the terrifying perfection of Ajay's skin and it looks... off. So I've settled on sticking close to my natural haircolor and features, and have just gone youthful for the remainder of my appearance. Considering I use Botox and fillers RL (I have an epic case of hereditary RBF -- the injections help offset it so folks don't think I'm horribly depressed all the time), it's fair enough.
  7. I went shopping at Neve today, on the suggestion of some from this thread and others, and came up with the outfit below. It's the Chaos leggings with Rabble top, and although it may not be everyone's idea of how a "mature" woman might dress, I have to admit that RL my standard outfit is, basically, leggings and a tunic top... so yes, I'd totally wear this RL, and I'll be 50 in April. Neve has several other outfits that can be construed as more "mature" fashion-wise (I have to say that descriptor varies wildly depending on who's using it), and I'm sure others do as well.
  8. I completely understand that! You're welcome to one at any time. I'm positively overrun with unopened kitten boxes, LOL
  9. That's the best idea I had as well Also, let me know if you want more cats LOL -- I have bucketloads of boxed-up kittens in the Cattery. I'd be happy to send one your way!
  10. I am so grateful January is almost over. The holidays weren't my problem; the onset of 2020, however, was. I started writing it all out, but it gave me the headache, so I shall instead sum up with bullet points. Younger son in deep depression Said child Baker Acted Used up almost all my sick leave for the year before an entire month passed Husband's job is driving him around the bend The d@mn cat died So yeah. Thbbbbpppptttt. On the plus side, things are looking up on the child and husband front at least. As for the cat, the beautiful boy will be terribly missed. I comfort myself that at least he was almost 14.
  11. This tree has been annoying me since I got it. If a tree is going to have a low-hanging branch, it should NOT say "No room to sit here" when one attempts to park one's avatar upon it. So I built a prim, sat on that sucker, made it transparent, and moved myself to the tree No mere mesh object shall defeat me! Also, I kind of had to edit my pants a little because the leaves coming through my pants were mildly distracting. Maybe there's a reason it's not entirely sittable...
  12. Yes, this is what I was referring to; the clipping is pretty evident in the video. It's still cute And I still might get it.
  13. Yes That much I've mastered... when I remember to press "Page Up" in the first place, apparently LOL. Thank you!
  14. This tutorial is geared toward the male head, but I believe the principles apply for all Catwa heads. It's one of the most extensive, user-friendly I've ever seen: http://www.virtualbloke.com/archives/2830
  15. It's cute, and I might get it. Probably will cave That said, if I wanted my hair clipping through my body I'd have stuck with my flexi-mess, yanno?
  16. The water isn't shallow enough for it to be an issue; I have cammed down to make sure (and I've been caught on the bottom before, albeit not this time), and also the failure to move has occurred in areas where I've previously been able to gain reasonable forward momentum via the same means. I took my boat out this morning, made SURE to press "Page Up" after I started the engine, and this time it worked. So I'd say at this point it's 90% likely to be me just forgetting to page up Thank you all for mentioning that! My motor boats go forward with just the up arrow once the engine is started, so it's way more likely to have been a "me" issue than an SL borkage problem. Much appreciated, y'all
  17. I have? I think. I know I have in the past, but it's possible I forgot to do so at the times when it wouldn't work. I'll make a note to ensure I do that this evening when I get home... because like I said, it could totally be a me issue, and that would be the easiest fix! Thank you
  18. Hey all I'm an extreme novice sailor in SL, and I love my boat. My problem is that sometimes the engine (my boat, the Bandit 50/3, has an engine for pulling out of/ into the marina) will start, but the boat won't move forward. Similar issues have happened in the Blake Sea when I lost my mind and steered directly into the wind, and couldn't figure out how to rescue myself other than starting the engine, and nada. No movement whatsoever. Sure, it looks like it's running and sounds like it's running, but it's... well, the boat won't move. I've checked to make sure the waters aren't too shallow for my keel, and that's not the issue (it was once in the marina, because I didn't realize keels were a thing -- yes, super noob here ) Any ideas? I'm pretty sure I'm either doing something wrong or it's an SL borkage thing, but honestly either is a very real possibility. I did take the classes offered on how to sail, which is how I know steering into the wind is Not At All Advised (physics aren't my strong point), but I can't find out if this engine trouble is a "me" thing or not. Thanks for any thoughts you may have!
  19. I didn't either! I'm tickled to know Mine is often open -- helps to tell who is where, especially when I'm at our one house where we actually have interactive neighbors. It also helps when I'm sailing or in my speedboat, because a) region borders, b) shallows (for sailing), and c) I can track when one of my friends who has several planes is incoming, deciding to buzz my boat
  20. I log in regularly (mostly daily) currently. That said, my husband and I took quite a hiatus -- we met in SL and needed to concentrate on RL -- from 2010-ish until October of 2019.
  21. I finally got my boat out of the marina! It's amazing what not having the keel dragging on the bottom does for general mobility
  22. I literally "gigglechokespluttered", LOL!!! Well done
  23. Well, fair enough I'm in Florida, though -- the thought didn't even occur to me!
