  1. ... and none of them can take PayPal. Sadly, privately held companies hold more sway than governments when it comes to adult content online. I do agree with you though!
  2. Read this LL support article for these questions, and more 1. If someone has your old name (calling card, or they blocked you--two examples) they can find your new name. If they don't, they can't without asking (or inferring from your location, your look, the contents of your profile, etc). So you could tell a store owner "I used to be X" and they could verify this for support, redelivery, or whatever. 2. No, your friends list will remain. You _will_ lose your viewer settings though, so back those up. Or find the viewer settings folder with your Resident name and rename it before logging back in. 3. Their old name remains on the blocklist and they remain blocked.
  3. I get both sides of this peeve. I like to direct attention to creators I love but at the same time I don't get dolled up to go out and talk shop about building avatars. I want to dance and flirt and have fun. Maybe it's my charming personality, but the number of people who hit me up for what I'm wearing and then became great friends? Zero. I usually just link them the "What's she wearing" HUD. Conversely, I'm much more open to conversations about avatars in a shopping venue, where that's the focus / mode I'm in.
  4. Before my time but that sounds right. They would be all over the place if not!
  5. I was surprised to find several while checking out the popularity of various new names inworld. I also see single character "Resident" names for every letter of the alphabet on my.secondlife.com. Most are made in 2011 with blank profiles but at least one had recent evidence of life.
  6. There's also one letter names up for grabs like I Float A Cloud
  7. Many more than I expected. I see new names constantly in every group, on my contact list and at every venue I visit. Sure, on the one hand its confirmation bias because I'm looking, but seriously, it's very popular. I sarcastically quipped "I'm sure LL knows what they're about" in response to the $40 price tag many months ago. I have to admit that in this case clearly they did.
  8. Feel like it would be great for sales. A large part of my cost saving on SL is forgetting to buy demos I liked.....
  9. Funny you should ask, I was wondering this very thing today! It would in theory be great for busy events. You take your demos home, make your choices and click buy. On the other hand it’s somewhat alarming when an attachment requests permission to take L$ from your balance. If some reputable creators or even caspervend implemented such a feature, I bet people would use it.
  10. There are a couple brands at my regular events that do the 1L$ demo thing. I couldnt tell you which because I've never demoed or bought anything they make. I think to myself "They must have their reasons, why are you being so petty, try the demo!" and yet I never do.
  11. It’s not even necessarily a matter of better. It’s (I thought) common knowledge that different creators have different butt profiles. One major creator famously debuted a “new” butt for her clothes a couple(?) years ago and phased out the longer, less bubbly posterior. I stopped buying her pants at the time because the booty had too much pop fir my taste. I liked the longer “mom jeans” style. Another massivelypopular creator includes two “styles” of butt in her products.. Same body, different butt.
  12. Tonight's peeve: the almost comically long time it takes for a search of MP "order history" to complete. Longer than my attention span!
  13. oldbies "last names don't mean anything, i dont see what the big deal is!" also oldbies: "don't let newbies have old names"
  14. I humbly suggest that LL reverse their previous practice and instead replace names that aren’t used. Nobody picked you in two weeks? You’re done. A popular last name in the past would have many thousands of “family” members. How long to sell even 500 Novas? And since according to cynics this is nothing but a cash grab, why sacrifice your best earners?? Probably confirmation bias but I’m seeing new names constantly in busy groups and sims. So who knows. Waiting patiently for a new crop of names.
  15. It's so people who have a last name can get "rid" of it.
  16. The idea there being that the new couple would select a currently available name and both change. And some will. My partner has a grand old name but I know she would change it in a heartbeat if a name we liked became available.
  17. Glad to see it up and running even if nothing jumps out -for me- in this crop of names. I wonder how often they will rotate?
  18. TLDR? I havent noticed anyone ADDING Belleza that wasnt already rigging for it. Only dropping. And that sucks.
  19. My count was of bodies being WORN, in response to the idea that nobody is wearing the Legacy body. Not items for sale. But Isis HAS been one of the big casualties of the Legacy bod so far. She was already waning a year ago and since then, the number of creators who have dropped Isis while picking up Legacy is not insignificant. Isis happened to be my favourite body for a very long time. I know how to shop. My observations, while anecdotal, are based on regular attendance, demoing and buying at most major shopping events for the last year or so. Right now of the main bodies, Belleza is the one with virtually zero profile and presence in world. I WISH it weren't so. Slink--active community, creator with a vision for BOM and an ACTIVE presence in world, regularly chatting with interested users. Maitreya, massive presence, active group etc. Legacy, proliferating across the grid like wildfire, adverts, a new body,. Where is Belleza? They put out a BOM hud. Yes, that gives functionality but in a symbolic sense the ongoing lack of updates gives me the impression that Belleza is being left behind. If six months from now Belleza updates and Legacy has already debuted a third, curvier body, what will be left for of Belleza--5%? TO BE CLEAR I am saying this out of LOVE for the Belleza product line. And again, I hope I am wrong.
  20. FaMESHed opening day, right now, I counted 20-25 Laras, 10 Legacies, and 2 Freyas. With admittedly nothing to back it up, I feel like the people who buy the most are seen the least out on the grid. They're at home unpacking and trying on clothes.
  21. At this point the "risk" is that Legacy is going to cut Belleza's grass so much that support will wane for one of the best, most uniquely shaped bodies on the grid. Legacy has now put out a perky body, and before long they will most likely put out an even curvier body as well. The way things are shifting, the partnering with massive clothing brands, BOM taking over the grid like wildfire, I wonder if Belleza realizes how tenuous their spot as the second most popular body really is. Based on the response I received after saying as much (and wondering when the BOM update will come) they either don't know, don't care, or my impressions are totally wrong. Hope it's the latter. To clarify, I do own every "major" body on the market. All have their plusses and minuses. Right now I prefer Legacy but I really really don't want to see Belleza dropped by more creators.
  22. Go to any major shopping event and manyyyy brands will have Legacy fits. Uber, Collabor88, FaMESHed (opening today) and so on. Some names off the top of my head Rebel Gal, Evani, Kaithleen’s, Muse / Moon Elixir, Pixicat, Seniha, Spirit, Miss Chelsea, Dirty Princess, Little Fox. Visiting main stores you will see a lot of older releases not available for Legacy, so events are one of the best ways to see new stuff. Also, search for the “Legacy Releases” Flickr group.
  23. I follow mostly politics and current events on twitter, so this is what they consider top content for me. I will allow that searching for #secondlife (not the same as "second life") does return more adult content. But it's a nice mix of things: stuff I've already seen on flickr and some I haven't—and yes some furries—but not at a level that requires panic.
  24. Classic filter bubble. I couldn’t find any. I’m mocking but this is also a real thing. Algorithmic searches prioritize what you actively look for far more than anything else. Why? Because the average user simply hoovers up whatever comes along in the endless scroll. Searching for furry content tells the algorithm you really really want to see it.
