  1. Hmmm ... They must have changed it since I got my Valentina.
  2. There are hundreds of quality mesh clothing/hair shops, and lots of them have their own speciality niches. You really need to narrow your requirements down a bit.
  3. You can hide Valentina's head using the body HUD, and its applier layers using the head HUD.
  4. After 6 years, I'm sure she will be happy to hear that!
  5. You need to wear an alpha section, which would hide the part of the feet that is covered by the shoes.. That would normally be supplied with the shoes. If you don't have any, you can get a set here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Alpha-Layers-for-Boots-Shoes-2011/1805419
  6. A good excuse to do a bit of shopping.
  7. Not quite true. Close-fitting mesh underwear and loose outer sometimes works very well. It is wonderful being able to wear that, as the difference in quality is just amazing.
  8. 36,000 and growing . It's getting bad. I'm so hooked on collecting freebies, which I unpack fairly promptly, try them on, and move the good ones over to my Testing subfolders for further testing, where they often sit forever. As time goes on I have got a lot fussier about what I accept, but now I must go on a purging campaign to keep only the best and cut that count by at least half.
  9. The "clones" you talk about are just those people who simply go for the big-name big-price heads and wear the default shapes supplied with them, with no interest/ability in customising them. There is a big choice available, in hugely differing styles which can usually be customised to one's heart's content, but they don't seem to care about that. And the same goes for system heads; I see as many permanoob clones who simply picked one of the default avatars and maybe changed their clothes/hair but nothing else. I'm sure that would have been even more obvious in years past when there was no such thing as mesh heads. So, what really matters is not so much what you wear, but how you wear it. Lots of people look really good with their system heads, while lots of others find that they can do even better with a well-crafted mesh head. Isn't it nice to have the choice? In my own case, I held out for a long time with my system head, brought it as far as I could to the appearance I wanted, but eventually found a small-name small-price mesh head which I thought looked a lot better, and a short time later another even smaller-name/-price head which is better again. Sometimes I go back to my old system head/shape/skin and compare it with what I have now, and I can't believe the difference.
  10. That's exactly what I do. If a pair of jeans has a HUD with 10 colour options, you can make up to another 9 copies of the jeans, wear each copy in turn and change its colour via the HUD. You then have a collection of jeans of different colours, and the HUD becomes redundant.
  11. First thing, relax, take your time, and enjoy your life in SL. There is no magic formula for getting rich here. Even those with special talents have to invest a lot of time and/or money over a long period before they build up a reputation and start to earn a little pocketmoney. You say you are a good singer - then concentrate on that; forget creating and sexy dancing. You have two properties? Develop one into a music venue, put on regular gigs, advertise them, and hope people will turn up and tip you a few lindens without you annoying them about it. Or check popular music venues and see if they will give you a regular gig. But they key thing is to enjoy what you do even if you're making no money at all.
  12. Just finished some remodelling of my house. I removed two rooms, where the balcony is now, reshaped and resized, made it generally cosier and less blocky-looking. It still needs more windows, but that's for another day.
  13. That's a really nice place. I love the roof timbers.
  14. Maybe you are still wearing an alpha layer that is hiding your head? You would have had to wear something like that for your fox outfit.
  15. I have come across lots of really nice mesh gowns, but once people start dancing in them the beauty just disappears - the hem rises and falls at the back like a rigid disc, and looks so silly. Though that only affects gowns that are flared at the back, luckily. I have a couple of gowns that I think look good for dancing: This one drapes straight down, so the back does not lift up, and this one has so many layers that you don't really notice the hem.
  16. Is that an applier top, that looks "painted" onto the body? Open your Maitreya HUD, go to the Layers tab, and click "clear all layers". (Oh look! I'm up to 501 posts now Doesn't that give me magic powers?)
  17. Maybe it's a new adult-theme continent, called "Sex! SIuts! Prostitutes!".
  18. Where could it go? A few ideas: Connecting poor abandoned Gaeta I with Corsica and Gaeta V and all the way to Satori. Snuggling up beside Jeogeot to keep it company. Connecting Jeogeot and Sansara (after moving a few sims out of the way), making a route all the way to Heterocera. Make Gaeta V a bit less lonely, connecting it more directly with Second Norway and the Blake Sea region. The possibilities are exciting, but will it be kept isolated like the existing Linden Home continents? I hope not.
  19. There are lots of things you can do with your face. You can edit your shape (assuming it is modifiable) by right-clicking your avatar, selecting Appearance -> Edit Shape (the wording might be a little different), and playing with the sliders. That will let you change the shape and size of your mouth/eyes/chin/nose/everything. You could get a new system skin which matches the tone of the skin on your mesh body. You could get some makeup, like lipstick, eyeshadow, and skin effects like tattoos, freckles/moles, etc. These are normally supplied in the form of tattoo layers. You could also get new eyes, either mesh eyes or system eyes.
  20. I'm sure the body-makers won't want to upset their customers who have made big investments in appliers, so the onion layers will have to stay. However, they could be separated from the body, worn as optional attachments. That has been done already (Orange Nova do it in their Nauha body and maybe others). Applier layers will still be superior to BOM in some ways, like stockings/socks where you don't want them "painted" onto the toes but covering them.
  21. But it's not connected to any other continents ... sigh. What a waste
  22. At 109 prims it must be some monster!
