  1. Another one, #284: A mboard I'm on that helps people with diabetes (my man has that) is when you hit the Submit button --- you get a plop-up saying "Share with Freakbook" which I find annoying. I did send a PM to one of the admins about that told them not everyone does FB, the reply was like "we thought everyone is on there."
  2. Most random PMs I get are those looking to do naughty things or being racist.
  3. Latest one: Finding out a property we used to own in the San Francisco Bay Area sold for 110 times we sold it for due to the super hot market in that area. We sold it a decade ago and it was the location of our now gone nightclub. We moved to my man's home province to retire, but got bored and bought a small tavern.
  4. Some suggestions: Free basic uploads like images and sounds. Post events at no charge --- like in the olden days. More land allowance, of at least 4096 square metres. Bigger weekly allowance. At least 100 group slots. And more for $139.99 or less per year. Better idea, maybe bring back the lifetime plans for $399.99 or so as a special now and then.
  5. She'll have a big project there! Anytime I see the name Philip Rosedale I think of SL and the Lab.
  6. Actually I did that at a island I rented a parcel at. The owner gave notice to everyone and was going to close the sim and leave SL and if anyone wanted to have fun go for it. I did the rubber balls and made a tall tower which I timbered. Before reeking havoc I made everything temporary and let it rip!
  7. They could've go the name from a type of tree. From Wikipedia: Tilia is a genus of about 30 species of trees or bushes, native throughout most of the temperate Northern Hemisphere. The tree is known as linden for the European species, and basswood for North American species. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilia
  8. My daughter is married to a First Nation gentleman and that stuff irritates him to no end. It's as bad as the "African-American" word, who was coined by a white person.
  9. When I saw the 10 Linden on the thread title --- thought you had to try to get 10 Linden Staff in one place. But I think like with music performers it'd be like herding cats! But that pose stand in the post above I also saw recently and a good deal.
  10. Peeve: Some new TVs that require internet to work. A niece bought a new Samsung (a brand I would steer clear of) and wanted to use it as a dumb TV. Where they live it's in a rural area and internet is none existent. After contacting Samsung we were told there was no way around it and ended up taking the thing back to the store. She would have bought an actual dumb TV, but those are non-existent except for commercial displays. Since we own a pub ended up ordering a NEC monitor for her. It only has inputs and no tuner or smart crap.
  11. Wonder if a Mole should take this thread out back and shoot it! This stuff been bought up a few times before.....
  12. I remember I had my Linden friend in my venue one night long ago. He had to check something and his avi slumped. I raised him on Teamspeak and a few minutes later he came and fixed it --- he was on a new computer and install and forgot to disable the "away" function. And this is the dude who told me about SL way back when we he used to come to our now closed RL night club. "I'm working for this exciting virtual platform - check it out" he said!
  13. I'm waiting for SL to have a glitch and ends up showing those to everyone! Be a lot more excitement then everyone fighting for the last existing beer on the planet! Sometimes I use notes to store things I'll forget, unrelated to anything on the person. My man uses those to put the person's favourite songs during his DJ sets.
  14. Meanwhile on with more peeves..... Cardles ATMs. I ran into one other day. It only takes a mobile device or one of the new "tap" cards. Sadly we have not got new type of cards in our next of the woods.
  15. Some performers are negotiable depending on your club. When I ran mine I had 5 performers and they wanted to play at my place. When I PMed with them I have a low budget, they worked with me. I ran a small club and I didn't make any Lindens. I did it for fun and enjoyment and a simple place for performers to play at. I was a one person club owner. I booked, hosted and managed on my own. I had some tell me I was doing it wrong and needed hosts, managers, etc. But I told them I got it covered. The places that have trouble are those who have too many queen bees and not enough worker bees.
  16. When I had my venue --- I tried to edit the jar to remove the tip amount but ended up borking the thing. Never trust me with scripting! I had to pull out a back-up jar. About 2 months later I sold the club to someone and she stuck a critter type jar in the place. Her jar doesn't tell much was tipped and doesn't even display a running total. Like me she runs the place for fun and to apprecaite live music, not to try to make boatloads of Lindens.
  17. My man does the same. He DJs in our RL bar and sometimes simulcast in world at a club. Sometimes he'll find a decent club to play that enjoys the music --- but many times other locations were one-offs or even walk-offs. As for the music we have a very large music library and lot of times we'll dig from the vault. Unlike many DJs, he doesn't play the same 20 songs over and over. Want a country theme - done. Want a DR Demento theme - done. Our music mostly came from CD Pools and collections we bought from record shops that were closing and digitising them. Things that annoy my man from certain clubs: One's that wants him to talk over the music. He don't do that. He limits the talking and let the songs tell their story. One that requires him to be on Freakbook to list sets. We won't touch FB with a 200 metre pole. Being asked to turn off the song titles. He refuses to do that as our license (SOCAN) requires those to be active. He actually got fired for that twice. Playing only short songs. Since we're also playing from the bar you will hear the 22 minute version of Rare Earth's Get Ready. It's also a great potty song! Being restricted from play obscure songs. If someone ask for one of those, he likes to surprise them. When a club owner is interested in him, he does tell them he plays music from our bar and do expect limited bar banter, like half price on well drinks. But we'll sometimes put SL on a couple TVs for those at the bar to watch.
  18. Our DJs don't play Mr. Clapton as per recommendation from our music provider. Even when we had someone from SOCAN at our bar she said "I'd avoid him, and some other singers like the plague." Sad....
  19. Best thing for FreakBook is to take it out back and bury it. Some mention about social platforms. There is MeWe but sadly it's still not popular enough and they claim not to spy and stuff on you.
  20. One Peeve from a couple years ago..... At our bar we had this large wall poster that's been there since the bar existed. It's from WWII and shows Mickey Mouse and couple other Disney characters in military uniforms and with a message to support the war effort. The original owners of the bar put that up when they opened the early 60s and think their family had the poster way before that and bought it up north when they moved here. About 2 years ago Disney sent us a notice we had to take it down and would go legal on us if we took to long. The reason was it didn't represent Disney's current views. Our attorney wrote back it's been there forever but they wouldn't hear it. So after much debate we took it down. We offered to return it to the original owners family, but they weren't interested, so it sits in the back room to this day.
