  1. just tried, put some 50 things into a box at the same time. So it works, most likely you're going about it the wrong way. Just edit the box and drop stuff into the content tab of the edit window.

Sassy Romano wrote: Some object to this in principle because in order that they are not added to the database of something they choose not to be part of, they have to wear something, thus unwillingly being forced to participate and this action adds them to guess what?... That same database. Some don't care, others do, that's all. which could just as easily have been written the other way around: only people who explicitly consent can be sent bite requests. Much nicer, but of course for the spampires it's "less fun" as instead of 50 newbies in a sim all clicking "yes" by mistake they now get no clickers at all because none of those newbies will have been consenting yet. Of course, with temp attachments the potential is created for just bombarding a sim with those, which will force themselves onto everyone in there and would then give consent to everything. This is a major potential problem with RLV as well, temp attachments forced onto people that then put them under RLV restrictions. Think a griefer in a PG sim forcing something on everyone there that strips them and blocks tp, and ARs all of them for TOS violations...
  3. Correct. Got that email some time ago about some animations. Strange thing is, when I went to the location they were supposedly deleted from it was not a place there had ever been any animations, let alone animations belonging to me (nor were the names at all familiar to me).

    Hi

Nothing wrong with Jive, I helped write it (seriously, I really did, 10+ years ago, take part in writing that package). Zaphod: seems this forum is just like (among others) the WoW forums over at Blizzard: a place where a small but persistent group of people whine and complain about everything and anything that LL does or does not do, whatever it is, and ending up contradicting themselves by complaining about things that are added after their complaints about those very things not being there.
  5. that's always impossible to answer with an affirmative. I don't know and can't possibly know what I would have learned and experienced had it not been for SL.
  6. not all sims. Unless things have changed, some premium only sims are running very old server software that doesn't implement many of the recent changes.
  7. iow you want people to send mass tps to their friends several times a day, apparently not caring about the real qualities of your staff. That's a quick way to lose friends for the DJ/host and a very quick way to lose customers for the venue...
  8. you take me out of context, not the other way around. The program was abandoned because it was abused to to extort sky high land prices from people too slow to sign up for it (like newer accounts...). Linden Homes are for many probably the only land they'll ever need or want to have, a place to call home. That means there will likely be less of a market for mainland plots (especially smaller ones), driving the price down to more reasonable levels for those who do need mainland. Private region rentals are already reasonably priced (as in, not an excessively high percentage over cost of ownership to the rental agent). More mainland availability might hurt estate rental somewhat, but probably will hurt sale of new estates to residents willing to buy rather than rent estates more (as most rentals probably go to people without premium accounts anyway, the price of renting an estate for a longer time being higher than buying one outright). Personally, I'd probably buy mainland were I to need more land. Cheaper that way. Less privacy of course, no control over your neighbours or the landscape (apart from selecting the parcel), but saves quite a bit of money. And that may well be what LL had in mind, driving mainland prices down so more people would be inclined to buy mainland for their stores, clubs, etc. that now typically end up on private estates, leaving large stretches of mainland abandoned.
  9. Danced in a club for a few months, most nights the total in tips I got, excluding those from other staff (management paid us by tipping us) was 0. Few nights I did get something, it was a single person paying on average no more than L$150, that happened at most once a week. Occasional dancing at other venues as a freelancer show similar patterns, if not worse. Small sample set I know, but from talking to others holding similar jobs, it does seem typical. Hosts and DJs tend to get more, not so much more tips as higher tips.

  11. and you can pull the scripts out of it and put them in another collar, takes just a few minutes.
  12. let's ban everything that anyone, anywhere, at any time may or may not consider "offensive". That'd be a very easy thing to do as it would mean banning everything, which is far easier than banning just a few specific things. Of course it'd also mean LL have to ban themselves, shut down the grid, and disband their business, which is problematic as laying off staff would also be banned.
  13. yes, and it's bogus as none of it measures real impact, but it's the only thing we have that even comes close as there is no reliable way to determine actual CPU load and memory use of scripts.

    Auto death

would work only if everyone were to add it to their prims, which a spammer or griefer is very unlikely to do But could be handy to get rid of prims that shoot off into the while blue yonder while you're building things. Just remember to remove it again before you package the build
  15. SinfulPrince wrote: I review on the MP only when I buy on the MP and then only if I was exceptionally pleased or exceptionally disappointed. afaik you can't review things on the MP you didn't buy through the MP anyway
  16. credit card is definitely more safe than Paypal. Credit card companies offer you protection against bad transactions, Paypal doesn't. In other words, if the seller doesn't deliver the goods or services paid for (within 2 weeks I think, depends on the CC maybe) you get your money back with a credit card on filing a report, with PP you have neither the money nor the goods. Now, LL will deliver, your premium status will be activated within minutes of reception of payment unless there are major problems outside of their control, so that's irrelevant. But still, in theory it's more safe to use a credit card. And oh, you get more than just the right to buy mainland, 512 sq.m. free tier, and 300L$ a week. You also get access to phone, email, and IM support. If you ever need support, that's worth the money.
  17. ever considered that you might be slightly toxic yourself in your hatred for those whose understanding of English isn't as bad as your own? And yes, that's correct, your English is far from perfect. I had trouble understanding it and my understanding of English is near perfect. Just as I wouldn't file an AR on you for your deficient writing skills, so I would suggest you don't do the same against your customers (and if you talk to your customers like you do in here, your translator will only further confuse them as it will generate garbage).
  18. Not ranting, just explaining why such things are a very bad idea... And yes, once people start asking private data from total strangers and those total strangers start giving it without being able to stop, where will it end? Maybe this time it's "just" the country, next time someone wants to have their full home address and telephone number so they can "send a gift".
  19. Alicia Sautereau wrote: Don`t forget that leaps are made in directx performance so any game you will see fps and quality improvement SL uses opengl... correct, and that's the difference, and the reason you see no real improvement. I just upgraded from a GT240 to a GT610 with double the vidram and get no real improvement either. There's 2 reasons for that: my videocard wasn't the bottleneck in the first place (the upgrade was because of hardware failure in the old card), rather my harddisk is, and the improvements in OpenGL just aren't dramatic between the cards.
  20. I wonder where people get the idiotic idea there's no one left in sl, when traffic numbers show that there's as many people online at any given time as ever. Of course those numbers include bots, of which there may be more than in the past. Most likely we have here another pathological whiner who just threatens to leave unless something changes NOW every few days (under one of many identities) only to complain about the very changes he demands when and if those changes ever do get implemented. I've seen them too often to be surprised about their behaviour. They're a scourge on any online community, sadly.
  21. I use the MP to find things, then typically go in world to buy them. Saves the store owner the 5% sales tax to LL, and allows me to see what else they have to offer (many don't have their entire catalogue on the MP)
  22. so you are looking for a paid hooker/escort. Those cost considerably more, think several thousand per hour. And you won't get them exclusive for that. Given the laundry list of demands, you'll likely have to pay even more.
  23. Tiffy Vella wrote: I suspect some groups exist merely to supply an amusing group name and tag. They mean little more than this. Many in fact. I'm a member of several groups for no other purpose than the tags they provide, and the information the group name adds to my profile.
  24. who gives you authority to decide how I spend my time? No one? Then why do you decide to do so? You're a control freak, highly judgmental, and a toxic personality. It's not up to you to determine how long people "are allowed" to log in on second life, let alone do things there. If anyone at all has that authority it's Linden Labs, as we're using their servers, their bandwidth, thus they pay for us being in world (not counting premium accounts, unless LL changes the contract for those to include limits, which currently aren't set down). I often spend days online without logging off. I don't spend all that time behind a screen though, and even if I am behind a screen it's not always the one running SL (I've multiple computers, multiple screens on some of them), so you'd have no way to determine whether I'm actually there or not. Now get a life and let others have theirs.
  25. Ceka Cianci wrote it was meant as a silly thread..not anything serious lol ease off the trigger and slowly put the gun down..everything is ooookay hehehehe that's often impossible to tell, given the idiotic "complaints" and mindless whining that goes on here and is (for the whiners) quite serious...
