  1. It could be but olf is a common acronym for many other things, so was thing there might be some meaning for it for math or scripting, but not fining any. olf seems to all ways be used for increments and decrements, but that could just be because its copied from the wiki so much. I just googled foo as a variable and turns out its got a long history of use to it, commonly paired with bar. I only script in LSL so was thinking there may be more to some of the common variable names used. My first thought when you said foo as a variable was script foo. We're talking about variable so the names can be anything. I've started to work on script projects with other people so have been thinking about common variable names for certain functions.
  2. Thanks That's what I was referring to, and because it was used in the wiki it's seen in many scripts in SL
  3. Silly question that got me thinking... I see integer olf; used a lot in loops. I get how it's used and what its doing, but have no idea what olf stands for? I don't think it's referring to Oromo Liberation Front, or how the loop or script smells...
  4. The link to your MP store doesn't go to your store I got to your MP store from you profile but can't find the cannons or battle balloons are they still fro sale?
  5. I got in for a bit but the sims seem to be off line again. Much funner when the rock monsters get you new. I wasn't there for long but its not just rock monsters now, got killed to by one of the slug like creature from paleo quest.
  6. I've never seen Jet ball what was it like, how do yo play. I like building ball games, I've made a Maya ball court, Hohokam court, and one for mermaids. I'm curious if Jet ball had a floating ball, my mermaid ball game has a floating ball and its way less laggy then a ball game where the ball in in constant contact with the court. I've been thing of making a scifi looking ball game with a floating ball. IM me if you would like to see them, I don't sell them but have them set up in a RP sim for playing, so there's dress code (it's in the 1700s mermaids and pirates ) but I may be able to sneak you in quick to see them.
  7. It might be related to people cheating by using mutiple copies of the same damage script to cause extra damage.
  8. if the items is an actual marketplace delivery failure then its not the merchants fault, reviewing it as such the review can be removed. First start by checking both your market place transactions history to see if the system even thinks it got there. If it's a failed delivery LL might look in to it if you have the transaction record and put in a support ticket. If this happened recently then the merchant like most people this time of year may be taking time off from SL work, and my be afk, logged in on a phone or even running as a bot to do group invites or other work. normally id say give them 24 or 48 hours to respond but over the holidays it may be much longer. it sounds like your friend is new to SL they might not be looking in the right place for it ? was it an adult item they might not be set up to receive adults items yet ? if a merchant was going to try to rip you off they still have to sell you something even if its just a empty box they can't make an empty listing.
  9. did you buy your avatar or did you create it your self, if you bout it they could have just bought the same things, its not hard to click on some ones attachment to see who made them, then find the store on the MP
  10. here's the official guidelines from LL http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Clarification_of_policy_disallowing_ageplay If some one gives you a hard time just send them the link and point out this part of it, people are less likely to argue when shown the policy. If they still don't get it ban, block , mute. "In some cases there may be an element of subjectivity as to whether an avatar (or other image) appears to be a minor. Objective factors which will be used to decide, including whether an avatar has childlike facial features, is child-sized, has clothing or accessories generally associated with children, and whether, based on the circumstances, an avatar is speaking or acting like a child ("My Mommy says..."). If you are in doubt as to whether an activity may be interpreted as ageplay, we request you err on the side of caution and desist. Please note that some countries' laws may impose penalties for graphics, drawings, or anime that resemble child pornography, even where no children have been involved." The word anime is found in the last sentence which is dealing with RL laws. Not to imply that all anime avatars are child like but many do look younger, you really have to look at each avatar sperately. I've seen very short very adult looking avatars and tall child like avatars.
  11. Chrismaky wrote: It is 2016 and SL is still loaded with a lot of terrible looking high prim non-mesh items, especially in its marketplace. Now I am a bit biased because I'm a hardcore mesh addict and I like to have my items, objects, clothes and myself look nice. But a lot of people it seems still prefer (and alot of designers continue to make) non-mesh stuff. Why? Mesh is more realistic, better looking, resizeable, and is much lower in prim/land cost. Do you think there should be a push to make SL 100% mesh? Bad mesh is much worse then bad prim work or sculpt maps here's an example of an arrow for a bow: bad mesh: 4 LI 4.1 down load 2.2 physics 1.8 server 2416 display (3 textures size 1024 x 1024) good mesh: 0.5 LI 0.1 down load 0.2 physics 0.5 server 453 display (1 textures size 1024 x 512) same texture used for bow, arrow and quiver I got a beautiful mesh tree i love but the physics 7.5 that's crazy for an object I'm going to set to phantom any ways, and it's got a display cost of 17,714 may be good looking but it's not better. I recently bought a very nice mesh temple but its to big for the space left in my sim so it's mod and has some nice pices parts but even though the are copy mod they are hard or imposable to work with, dint come with uv maps so I can't change the textures, things id like to take apart are all one mesh. Then there's mesh hair with build in facelights that are no mod lol . Mesh shadow maps, i have a mod mesh bed i'd love to remove the pillows from but the shadows are baked on to the bed, and no uv map so cant remove the shadows my self. and why a shadow needs to be 1024x1024 is beyond me no flexi mesh, can't cut, hollow, slice it for scripting. can't texture most mesh with out a uv map. I get compliments on my sim every day and I use lots of prims and I've managed to stuff so much into my sm that most people are surprised to find out its just a homestead. And much less laggy then similar mesh only full sims. Good mesh looks great so dosen't good prim work I choose to keep building with prims most the time because I enjoy it. mesh is just an other tool, A computer is a very powerful tool but we still make hammers, and we still make RL houses with 2x4s aka boxes / prims Twice in the last month I've got an IM from some one looking to see if I'd sell the some of my mesh full perm, which is kind of funny because it was just good prim work. as for SL being 100% mesh LL will never do some thing that removes 13 years of prims building content, that's one reason there doing a new platform and not just a massive update to SL. The great thing about SL is if you don't like something your free to TP away and build it your self.
  12. I've had similar problems for the last 4 years when I moved to a new state. After have repair people out about 6 times a year I finally had one tell me our neighborhood has old wiring and there is no plan to ever replace it. Doing some research on line shows that many cable and phone company's are not going to even fix these problems as most are looking at going wireless in the next 10 years. here just one example https://gigaom.com/2012/11/07/heres-atts-14b-plan-to-kill-its-copper-network-and-leave-rural-america-behind/

Misogynist men are ruling SL and we will not be able to do a thing about it! But, I will not stop to point out to these sick men. As I am a person and I am paying real money to SL. If it's all about $ I'd like to point out some of the richest people in SL are women, SL's first RL millionaire was a women.
  14. Raw terrain files when uploaded are not appearing correctly it looks like all smoothing has been removed. we uploaded one Thursday or Friday and that was fine the same file today looks like its had not been smoothed at all, hills look like steps. We tried more then one file, and old and newly created flies. tested on the main server and on magnum all so tested on homesteads vs full regions.
  15. Tamarsk wrote: Wow! Said merchant must have set a record for reviews - a quick perusal shows that more that 80% (perhaps higher) of the items have a review attached to them and most are 5 star. Many products, even new ones have muitlple reviews, 4 to 8. I wish I had that kind of feebback... :smileywink: This stores combined total reviews are still WAY less then several single items reviews in other stores, there's a single item with 2848 reviews I wonder if full perm items get more reviews because they are often sold to other merchants who under stand the value of a review and may be more likely to leave a review.
  16. Tamara Artis wrote: This is interesting... It looks to me it would be best if I released expensive product with some flaw, waited for a customer to contact me and ask for help, show my exceptional customer service and got a nice review plus free advertising? I might even try it lol You don't need flawed products, marketplace delivery failures can be your best friend to help get you a good review if you respond to them quickly. Now that LL his broken the failed deliver feature I don't get may reviews any more, may be I'll have to go to flawed products as well.
  17. Most skates I've seen are just AOs that make it look like your skating, for what your looking for you'd need to script its like a vehicle.
  18. First thing I look at is if it's even filled out, if it's not and they are not a noob then I'm not interested in reading a blank book, I get so many IMs from random strangers trying to hit on me I don't even take time to respond to people with blank profiles any more. I do a lot of RP in adult sims to me a blank profile just say dose not RP well, just looking for sex. This mostly seems to be a problem with men. Next I look for RP limits and sexual origination, then any interest or background story for any thing to start a conversation from. Some thing funny is all ways a good way to get my attention. Things in profiles that I don't like to see are RL pictures in the SL profile , and rude text in the profile like "If you don't ^%$^^ do web cam then I don't have time for you %^&^" I have no use for talking to people like that. One that really made me laugh, and I'm not sure if it was intended that way, was a guy that IM me with the usual "hi sexy your hot." To me that just sounds like a broken record, so I look at his profile and sure enough he has a broken record as his profile image, rofl.
  19. Why would a merchant charge to join a group all most sounds like a scam. Some thing dosen't sound right here, or we don't have the full story. 500$L for a shop group sounds crazy.
  20. I've been in SL for 8 years until last week never joined a good active RP sim. Some times I had looked, but ether the rules seamed intimidating, and I did not feel like dealing with them while just exploring, or on one was around. Then I found the Amazon River sims it's a great RP place with 8 sims, lots to do and explore, and lots of great people to meet, and RP with all the time. The Amazon is using experience tool so its really nice to be able to show up the first time, and automatically get the hud. As long as your not some guy just running around asking every hot half naked native girl in sight for sex with bad pickup lines and no RP it's easy to meet people and make friends there. it's an adult sim with lots of that going on, but there's so so much MORE to it. Best place in SL I've found I rarely leave it now, but if your just lazing around don't expect people to make it fun for you, like any thing it takes some effort. Best way to beat boredom is to get involved.

BilliJo Aldrin wrote: What i find offensive is the opportunists that are using the church murder to further their agenda of eliminating every shred of evidence that there ever was a Confederate States of America. Eliminating the past to direct the future has a rather ominous Stalinist tone. Whats sad though, is that when you erase "White" history, you are also erasing "Black" history. When you see what an out of control monster the federal government is today, you realize the southern states were right to try and break away. May God have mercy on our souls. You want God to have mercy on your soul because Confederate States lost a war defending slavery, good luck with that. The federal government isen't voting to take down the flag at the South Carolina State House grounds, it's the state government doing it.

Interesting thought - boost the inworld economy by inflation ... But are Californians Keynesian? It's not really inflation, it's not increasing the amount of $ available, it's giving people more reasons to spend $. There's only so many trees you can put on a 512 lot. Sound like this is LL plan for the NGP, all so on the other grid I'm on every one has land, people selling landscaping items make the most $ so looks like it might be working there. Of course this only applies to items you rez.

Is the percentage of the whole population, of the working population, do "stay at home moms" and people who have given up on finding a job count etc etc.... http://stats.oecd.org/Index.aspx?DatasetCode=LFS_SEXAGE_I_R# I wonder how America's 2.3 million people in prisons count in that, if their counted as unemployed, or if prison labor is counted as having a job?
