  1. What would come to mind when I would see someone with a bright light is a hooker standing under a street light, always made me laugh. But I don't see them any more so I don't care, but you can tone them down if you like them.

As I recall there was no mention of product or services, only that the money was transferred accidentally. And now that we know the product or service involved, I have enough experience in that particular field to know that L$25000 is right around ten times the going rate for what I imagine was "exchanged." Sure sounds like somebody accidentally typed in an extra zero, and somebody else didn't want to give up found money. Different people charge different amounts for things. Take shoes for instance, you can pay 25L and get a pair of heels or you can pay 1500L for a pair of heels. If you get the 1500L heels, you owe the money. Does not matter what the going rate is or if you like them or not. And the other post did not say they were dissatisfied or that they over paid, only that the funds were sent by accident. If the funds were sent by accident, who were they trying to pay, and did that person get paid. The bottom line here is that we just do not have enough information to make an accurate assessment of the situation.

I would bet there's more people than you realize who don't have pixel sex. Most people I know don't need it at all. To each their own of course but no thanks for me. I agree, I don't need it, if fact I will go one further and add, I just don't understand it in a virtual world. There must be something to it because of all that (so I hear) do it, but I just don't get it. (pun? could be.)
  5. Folders. In world I like folders because a LOT of merchants do not show the permissions on items they sell, and I do not purchase no copy items. If I can look at the items offered and see what the permissions are there is a 100% better chance I will make the purchase. Also, what the frell is with the, pay this amount, and never showing what you are paying that amount for. No way to see anything, just, pay this amount sucker and shut up. I don't like that at all, looks for another store.
  6. One of the best things about hair in SL is that everyone can't agree on anything, and that is not only good, thats great. Because that tell you that there is verity out there, what I hate someone else loves. The best advise anyone can give you is one word, DEMO, get a lot of them and find out what you love, I may hate it but then, its not on my head, and what I hate should make no difference to you if you love it. One of my favorites is Zero Style, I ware my hair from there almost all the time.
  7. OK, I did not like first grade, could be that is somehow why I don't follow your reasoning. Could you explain for me because I disagree with you.
  8. The problem is that everything you have listed has alternatives, something that can replace it. That is what keeps the price down. But SL is almost a monopoly. Yes there are other virtual worlds out there but nothing that compares to the quantity of and variety available in SL. And also there is supply and demand, LL is supplying what is needed and there are apparently enough people that are willing to pay the price they ask. Not until the people are unwilling to pay that amount will the price come down, and we do not know at what point LL will agree the prices need to be lowered. Just to point out one thing that I have not seen brought up is the business move that LL made by purchasing X-Street and On-Rez, if the two stores had (and they could have easily) sold items to other grids, the other grids would have grown faster and faster and LL would have had competition and would have had to lower prices to keep up. (IMHO)
  9. Here is a guess, and its really off the wall, but what about Steam. Not even sure of the name but as I understand it, you log onto Steam with your web browser and start games from there. I heard that SL is now on Steam, would you need to web into Steam to get to SL if you use a Steam account. You would still need to have an SL account so if someone thinks the only way to SL is through Steam it may look like you need a web browser to get to SL not understanding that all you need to do is download the viewer. Like I said, off the wall and most likely does not work like this but I have no idea. Anybody use Steam?
  10. I have been is SL for over five years and have never seen any place where a web browser is needed to access SL, or for that matter can even be used to access the in-world of SL. Now its not that I doubt you, its just that I would love to see what your talking about, where is this place that requires you to use a web browser to access a region, I want to see it, pretty please.

When my son was in the Air Force he bought a gaming laptop for when he deployed or went TDY. I don't know the exact price but between 2K and 3K, and I would still take my desk top over that thing and I spent a fraction of that.
  12. TDD123 wrote: For your reference. My current PC ( dated 2008 ). You may have purchased your PC in 2008 but your video card (GTS 450) is a lot newer than that, and that makes a big difference. From what I can see the GTS 450 came out in late 2010 to early 2011. I like the photo, nice avi.
  13. It could be just me, but 1K and a gaming lap top will be hard to do. SL on ultra takes a fairly good system. The last place I bought from is named iBUYPOWER and from there web site you can modify base models to your hearts content and see the price as you add change and delete options, lap tops too. I am guessing that is not all that unusual for places selling PCs on the web. I now have three gaming PCs from them and could not be happier. When I had to contact them once for help the service was quick and friendly. And @ Rii, every one has ups and downs with hardware, one of my sisters has and Acer and could not be happier.
  14. That would make it difficult to install. :smileysurprised:
  15. I do clean up from time to time, I'm sitting at 40K right now. One thing I have see a lot is a warning to empty your trash often, don't let it get to full before you empty it. That has been a problem to some people.
  16. Mustang wrote: I decided to use Firefox to help distiguish the two accounts. You don't use a web browser to run Second Life, you need to download a Viewer, don't even start a web browser when you start SL. Maybe someone else can help with a viewer that can run on an older computer. Look on the Third Party Viewer page and find another viewer there. Not sure of the name but something like Catnip, haven’t used it for months and months so not sure how it works now, but it was running on my laptop that was purchased over six years ago only to do e-mail when I travel.
  17. I agree, I don't think I would go so far as to say the ads cheapen SL. After all, when someone is not afraid to advertise rivals on there site, they must feel pretty confident about there “game”. And a lot of the games advertised have a lot better graphics, and if your looking for action they have more of that too. And no, I have not used any of them, all I need to do is look over the shoulder of any other person in the house, its gamer city around here and I am the only one on SL. The other family members have SL accounts but think its lame and just shake their heads when I log on. But after being on the receiving end of a griefer attack not long ago, I am looking at other places to play, and when I did see the ads I made note of several games that looked interesting. And no, I'm not leaving SL, just not on line as much. Knowing that LL does nothing about the griefers and I have no recourse about what happened has really taken the wind out of my sails.
  18. A lot of people that quote the Bible only quote passages that further their self serving agenda. Something I have wondered about is, who in the church has the ominous responsibility of telling their God to go fly a kite when other passages are referenced.
  19. Good thought but looking at the JIRA thing, its a bit over my head. I use a TPV but keep loading the LLV just to keep an eye on it. Just thought a quick suggestion might be seen.
  20. Giggles, “Me,Me,Me!” is in fact one of my tags in world, a lot of the time And I am the one that said, it makes my pages jump around.

I thought for a second and looked for shoes, an ad for shoes came up, then I looked at gowns, and ad for formal ware came up, very interesting, google is looking at what your are looking at and keeping track of that and giving you ads for your interests. Now think a little harder on that one, this is SL not RL, well now google and the ads are making SL pertinent to RL. Now when you explore something on SL that you would never explore in RL, well you are now exploring it in RL, like it or not. Is that a problem, thats up to you. You've described how contextual ads are actually very good, but you've mistaken the website for SL - it is not. It is RL. Second Life (inworld) is SL - the website is in RL. None of it is a problem to anyone. Number one, unless I have missed something, everything on the MP is for SL. None of it will be delivered to my front door. Number two, all of SL is on the real world web, even in world is on the RL web. Its all real looking at it like that. Number three, I am so happy that all of SL now has someone that can speak for them, that has bothered me for some time that I need to speak up to be heard. But now I know that you speak for everyone. (None of this is a problem to anyone.) Number four, no #3 is not serious, you just left yourself to wide open for it.
  22. Here is another thought, it took me a minute to type it out, laughing to hard. What about all the men who have female avatars, all their shopping on the MP for high heels, lingerie, dresses and all the things needed to keep their female avatar looking good. Well now google thinks they, well, you know, are into that. Maybe google will give them ads on how a man can dress properly as a woman in RL. I don't care who you are, now thats funny
