  1. So the question is, ToS Changes – why? Well just to put another option out there... I have always thought (and said) that SL is just to expensive. I firmly believe the cost of items is the number one thing that makes new residents Look, Laugh, Leave. If the new ToS gets rid of some or most of the more expensive “Creators”, then LL has a lot better chance of building SL to a much larger place to live and play. I still log on and still see new content offered (for less money), and have not seen any big drop in the number of people on-line, the only people saying they are leaving are some of the creators. Could be the plan is working. You asked why, just another thought. But what I said in Message 2 of this thread is still what I would put my money on. And I was not trying to say they are thinking about closing, just looking ahead, you know, CYA before its to late.

Several people have suggested that LL put this in the ToS so they can sell our creations on Desura.. That would imply nefarious intent. Personally I don't think LL is that stupid. No matter what the ToS says they still can't sell our items without our express authorization. Copyright laws take precedence over any ToS. I don't know much about this so be nice, but in order to “play the Copyright card”, don't you need a registered Copyright, and isn’t that expensive? And do builders in SL go that far?
  3. My guess is it has more to do with when LL shuts down SL. It has closed the door to what can and can not be done with all the items on the servers. LL is now free to do anything they like with all the items, not just the ones I purchased that I don't own, but now everything. Will save them a ton on legal battles over content. Just a thought.
  4. I clicked on a couple ads when they first started, but when I clicked on one and could not even see the site without registering for that site, I put AdBlocker in place. And I don't know about anybody else but when I did see the ads, it moved my screen every time the came up, very unpleasant viewing the MP like that. But its all better now. :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2:
  5. Well, I found the problem, so if someone else does come across it, here is how I fixed it. And from all the answers I got, I guess I am the only one that has done this. If you edit something and zoom into it and then do not clear the zoom, you end up walking slower. Found answer by accident and sure enough that will do it, tried it over and over to make sure that was it. LL viewer and one TPV both work the same. So if someone else feels like they are “walking through molasses”, this is what fixed it for me. Ctl-9 to clear zoom, after Ctl-0 to zoom in on an object.
  6. Addressing a Linden here is like talking to a brick wall. The sad part is that first and last names could be added to the sigh up page so easily. All LL needs to do is make it so one space can be added to the user name, not the first letter or the last and only one space. You now have the illusion of a two name account with what is actually a one name account. But seeing it you would never be able to tell the difference (I don't think). Easy to put into practice and as far as I know would not effect things like lucky chairs and the like, they use first character of single and double name user names. I think part of the single name sing up was to do with people not spending enough time picking a name and leaving the sign up page. (they most likely would not stay in SL anyway so why bother with them) Also something to do with the database running out of room, or something like that, I'm not sure about that one but do remember something about that being said.

You might get a heart attack, because ANYTHING offends and violates you... :matte-motes-asleep: Better you never enter ANY forum....or the internet at all. Just for your own safety. I don't know about being offended but the way I read the OP is that the name “Chastity Broome” was being changed to “ChastityBroome Resident”. I was not offended but I was upset, I like my name and do not want it changed. But funny story: I went to my e-mail to see if I had something from the Lab telling me about a name change but I could not get into my hotmail. They, hotmail, demanded I give them my phone number or another e-mail address so they can send me a security code that I would need to enter to get into my hotmail account. So... I now have a new live(dot)com email account so I could get the security code to get into my old e-mail account. Took me from yesterday to get into my e-mail and, No mail from the Lab about a name change. I feel a lot better now and I have a new e-mail account.

She has to demo everything first to see if it will fit but she seems to have some success I have the Avatar 2.0 and have been rather surprised at the amount of mesh clothing I can use. I don't buy much but some standard mesh does work. Now I don't know what this says about mesh but I find almost as much mesh fits me as 2.0 as it does me as the standard Avatar. I like mesh but for the most part it fits poorly. And thats right, my shape is not modified for mesh clothing. (except one or two on the slider and then a copy of that shape is saved with that piece of clothing)
  9. I have noticed for a while now that my location on the mini map is represented by a yellow dot as well as a green dot. Don't know how long, but its been a while, and I don't remember it always being like this.
  10. Not necessarily aimed at you, or anyone, just an opinion... Years ago a face light was almost needed. But many still went overboard and killed everything around them with the extreme lighting. Today they no longer “show off”, all they do is “pi$$ off” everyone around that gets blasted by the light. If you want people to see something you are trying to show off, a face light is the worst way to do it. I move away from them and have left places due to them. And if someone reading this owns a venue, this is one thing that will keep you from getting a tip, I can't tip if I am not there. But thats just me, or, IMHO.
  11. My “Home” in SL is a welcome center, not always a good spot to log on to. So what I do is set my viewer to log me on to my last location. You will need to go home when your ready to log off but most of the time that should not be that big of a problem. Just another option.
  12. Dillon said: Not too long after that, LL totally revamped their viewer into what they called Viewer 2. The user interface was way different. There was massive frustration from people who had to learn all over again how to do things they'd been doing for years on the original viewer. That drove even more people to Emerald because it still looked like the 'old' viewer, and it became by FAR the viewer of choice. I hate the tired statement that people left V2 because they had to learn to use it. That is just not correct for many people, me for one. It had nothing to do with learning to use it, V2 was just a disaster as far as a viewer goes. Learning to use it was not the problem, the problem was just how bad the viewer was. V3 is a lot better and I keep it up to date and do use it, and almost only it, with this avatar. Edit: Forgot to say: And by the way, I have never used Fierstorm and most likely never will.
  13. I posted about the same thing under “Second Life Viewer”, but I said it is like walking in molasses. But I find the arrow keys and the A W S D keys do the same thing for me. I got no answer in the viewer section, hope you get an answer here. I will be using my TPV until its fixed.
  14. A blind man running for his life would not see the difference.
  15. Unfortunately clubs disappear to quickly from Second Life. They take a lot of work to keep them going. I love the music in Second Life but I go where the singers are. Open Search in world and click on Events and then Live Music. Look under More Info and you can sometimes get an idea of the kind of music the person sings. And as for the times, you can find music all the time. Pick a show and go and enjoy, and if you like the singer join their group, most have them. Just look to see if there is a dress code, some clubs are Formal Attire only and they will ask you to change or leave if your not dressed appropriately.
  16. With the latest LL viewer, when I walk or run, I am moving slower than before. I use one TPV and when I log on with it I don't get that “wading through molasses” feeling. Has anyone else gotten this feeling, is there a setting to move normal or faster. Its a very odd feeling to be moving to slow when I walk. Could be just me but when when I log on with one viewer and log off and log on right away with another viewer the difference is easy to see and feel.
  17. Perrie said: Regardless of the why, and I have my own personal opinions as to why, LL needs to get off their fat behinds, stop investing resources that only a miniscule part of the residents care about (Pathfinding, materials, etc) and focus in on the things that more than anything will improve the user experience. OK Mr. Perrie, you've gone to far this time. I think every one is way more than a little interested in Material to use with Patchfinding. Anything that will make it so we can mend our clothing if something happens to it I am here to tell you is very important and you better not get in my way of getting it. Uh, wait a second, someone is tapping me on the shoulder... Pathfinding... Materials... what the hell is Pathfinding and Materials? (no really, what is it?)
  18. One month, wow, after one month I was still falling off buildings, running into walls and getting run over by trains. You need to stay in SL and make your avatar look like that robot from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, I think his name was Marvin, you sound like him. And about your lindens, they will still be there next year, come back and try again if you do leave.
  19. There is one TPV that is testing the deformer, check out Kokua Viewer. http://blog.kokuaviewer.org/ Not sure where they are in the testing but you can look and see.
  20. Thank you Solar. Fly works but the point-to-point does not work [for me]. The Admin menu also turns on build, everywhere. Being homeless that will come in handy if I can set a box down and open it without going to a nasty sandbox, will see. But again, thanks.
  21. Perrie said: We were talking about overriding the Land Owners preferences, not overriding the Viewer's own coding. Overriding the Land Owners preferences by a TPV giving you the ability (coding override), where LL viewer will not let you do it. I got the Admin menu activated but see nothing in it about being able to override no fly. Unless it has some really strange name. I did see things like, take ownership of land, but that will not let you fly. I did not even see it in the god tools. I will look through the debug settings and see what I can come up with. Perrie said: If I set this on my land, someone using Viewer1 could not create/take a LandMark on my land. I remember that, surprised me the first time I came across it. But, like I said earlier, walking prior to teleport made my teleports happen first try a lot more often, as in most of the time.
  22. OK, as for the fly in no fly zones, activate the admin menu. Well you need to be an admin to get to the admin menu. So, no, you cant override the no fly unless you are the admin on the sim, and that sounds logical, its your sim, you can override. But for the rest of everyone else, no. Unless you use a viewer that hacks the LL viewer code and lets you fly when the admin has turned it off and does not want you flying around.
  23. Perrie Juran wrote: Teagan Tobias wrote: Oh, sorry, my bad. I don't use that other viewer, would you be so kind and tell me the Debut Setting so I can use it too. Thanks in advance. Edit: Debug setting, honest that was a typo. I was speaking more in general, hence my use of the plural "overrides" in my statement, "There have always been overrides in the Official Viewers." However, in the thing that Linden Lab pretends is a Viewer anymore, if you enable the Admin Menu you will find that you can fly in "no fly zones" and that double click teleport works if you enable it in preferences where TP points are set. The TP'ing is a little buggy. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and I haven't been able to decipher why. But I really only use the official viewer for debug purposes and I'm not into spending my time on figuring out all the "why's." Once I started using TPV's that had functions set where it made sense to have them I kind of gave up on the Official Viewer. I did spend a few minutes testing before posting my answer. I don't fly that much so I will need to look into that one some. But I use the double click teleport all the time and if a forced landing point is set, I always end up there. I say always but I could be overriding it and not knowing it. But then I should be able to force a teleport to another location when I am returned to the forced landing point, but that is not working, ever. I am thinking there is a difference between a forced landing point and a landing point for a LM. It looks to me that the double click will work as long as there is no forced landing point for the sim. So it looks like that is not an override of the coding of the viewer. Not sure how I will test the no fly, it shows up on the viewer that you are in a no fly area, I'll do some looking around but from what I have seen the LL viewer does not override its own coding.
  24. Oh, sorry, my bad. I don't use that other viewer, would you be so kind and tell me the Debut Setting so I can use it too. Thanks in advance. Edit: Debug setting, honest that was a typo.
