  1. I am of the opinion that many of them are in way over their head and have no idea what is going on around them and just strike out at the nearest avatar, happened to me, and I was just sitting doing nothing but watching a show and then I got banned.

That is what the DEMO is for. Correction, that's what demo's are supposed to be for. Wearing hair some weird color with a box on top saying demo isn't what I was trying to buy. I was quoting Drake1, my part is the last line about the DEMO. And I agree, its hard to tell what some things look like with the colors and attachments in the way.
  3. Phil wrote: ETA: Those who say they will never buy a non-copy item have never interested me at all. Their reasoning doesn't make any sense from a furniture seller's point of view. If they want copyable items, they are free to make their own. I see no reason to let those in the rental business rez dozens of copies and only pay for one, just to satisfy those few who have a chip on their shoulders about non-copy items. I am most likely the most outspoken person I have seen in the forums about copy items, and I understand the difference between clothing and furniture. I agree with no copy furniture (plants, rocks, trees, etc...), but not no copy clothing. I am homeless in SL so furniture is the last thing I will be looking for. I log on at a welcome center and hope for the best. I lost to many no copy items before I decided to buy only copy items, and its working out really great for me.
  4. I have had some very pleasant experiences with merchants and have got some free things in appreciation. One woman was almost giving away some of her store and did not know it, when I IM'ed her she was very grateful. It was lucky for her she was still online, she had just finished updating prices and there had been an SL glitch. There are some very pleasant people in SL. That is one reason I have been here for over five years now, I like it here.
  5. And keep in mind that the thread was started because I find many stores where you can't tell if something is copy or not, that is the issue. Sell copy, sell no copy, that was not what I was complaining about. All I was interested in saying is, tell me the permissions if your selling something. People that would like copy would like to know. People that would like transfer would like to know. The fact that I buy copy only is not and should not be an issue, who cares.:smileyvery-happy:
  6. If someone doesnt like an item i am selling i will refund them their money when they send it back to me. provided i have a transaction record. can't do that with copy items. That is what the DEMO is for. I don't expect you or any merchant to list things just because that is what I want. Verity makes the world go around. But by the same token, I don't half to buy from you. We both understand that. And yes you can put them up any way you want, my only point about the, because I can, is that it was his only reason. You have given other reasons, not the same thing. He was just nasty in his reply, IMHO.
  7. Drake1 Nightfire wrote: its its no trans and there is an issue they can't send it back to me. you can make outfits with links of the same item. uses less inventory that way. and yes.. someone can buy the outfit and actually give it to their loved one rather than hoping it goes through the MP gift option. If there is an issue with an item you sell and you don't fix it, copy or not, then you will lose costumers because you will be thought of as not caring about the customer or the quality of what you sold them. I can't box up, or backup, a link. So put the copy and no copy option for sale. With the new venders I hear its pretty easy. And about the “mean” comment, that was because when I asked one store owner why his items are no copy he just replayed, lol because I can. And not all my outfits are boxed up, only the ones that I really like. Other than that I change clothing from my inventory.
  8. Drake1 Nightfire wrote: why would clothing need to be copyable? And the even BIGER question, why shouldn’t clothing be copyable? Like Trinity said, the gift option wont work. So why not, just be be mean? I box up outfits / avatars complete with shape, skin, hair and everything, I take a photo and keep the box and photo in a folder. I now have two items in my inventory for a complete avatar. No copy makes it so when you unpack the box the no copy item is no longer in the box. With the copy only items I unpack the box and then delete it. When I am finished with that avatar I delete it and again have only the box and photo. So because of that I will not purchase no copy clothing. Mesh or any other kind.
  9. I am an honest person and assume I am talking to honest people, so there is no difference between using and buying no copy items, you must buy them to use them in my mind. The only difference could be freebies. And yes, I have not picked up some nice freebies because they are no copy. But then if they are free I see no problem with taking several copies, free is free is free. And I have done this a number of times, but if its limited to one copy, I just keep walking and take none. And 8,500 in your inventory, wow, how do you do that. I am right at 40K right now, but it does not slow me down any, and I do delete items, I have made 40K my upper limit and try to keep from going over that. I guess I should look at my older shoes and get rid of some that just need to be deleted after five years. And hair, I could most likely get rid of 5K right there.
  10. I now have, or the family now has, three PC's from iBUYPOWER. You pick the basic box you are looking for and every piece can then be changed. A running tab of the price is shown on the screen. I had a video card quit after about six months and I mailed it back to them and they mailed me a new one. You do need to follow the return procedure but it was easy and I had no problem with it. I had another video card from my old PC that I put in my new PC while I waited for the replacement card so for me it was no problem. I thought the price was good and I got to select everything from the case, fans, lighting [if you like], the main board, everything. Watch for specials on there web page, when I got my daughters PC I got a free hard drive upgrade from 1TB to 2TB for free. Another PC I got upgraded from 4 core to 6 core CPU for free. I went back and went through the building process a dozen times or more before I got the first PC. Have had the oldest one for over a year now and no problems with that one at all. Of the three only the video card in one PC had a problem. That is my PC that I access SL with.
  11. *Now I read that the OP will never buy an item that doesn't have Copy perms. What's a merchant to do? A little clarification, I said I do not use no copy items. Well I did when I had land, I would buy no copy trees and plants. But what I would buy came in packages of ten of something like that. I can understand no copy on something like that, but with clothing, if its no transfer, then what good is no copy, how many pairs of the same heels can I put on at once. But I found I am really, and I mean really, good at deleting my stuff, so I make backups and box them up. Have used my backups many times over the years. I kept a pair of shoes, or one shoe, in my inventory for years just to remind me that if its no copy and one shoe gets lost, the pair of shoes is useless. That was my last pair of no copy shoes and at last count I had over 400 (is that bad). Once when I asked a merchant why his lingerie was no copy, he told me, its because they are part of a set, that left me scratching my head, so I just moved on to another store. I don't see it much any more but there were stores that gave you the choice, copy modify no transfer, or modify transfer, I liked that. I think I am rambling now so I'll stop.
  12. And I would think that “full disclosure of permissions and other information like that need to be disclosed prior to purchase” should be a common curtsy by anyone expecting to sell anything. Glad to see you agree And I don't really care how I get the information, on the ad board, note card, sign at the service desk or by a bird swooping down screeching “its copy modify no transfer”. But without the information its a no sale. I am glad to see there are people that agree with me.
  13. Thanks, because I for one don't like a Pig in a Poke.
  14. I have a pretty simple question for Merchants. In World when I am looking at something that I like, and try to purchase it, the “right click pay” window gives me no information about what I am trying to buy, only the amount to pay and the name of what ever it is. Many times the ad board is also devoid of helpful information about permissions or layers. Many shops when I right click pay I can see what I am purchasing and all its parts. I can see that the top of an outfit is on the jacket, shirt and undershirt layers or just one layer, and if it is copy or not. Are you relaying on the new players that don't understand permissions to buy your items, or are there so few people like myself in SL with little money to spend and care about what they are spending it on. What is the thought behind, give them a pretty photo to look at and a price and no information? Because for me, I just move on to another store. And that is the best part of SL, there is always another store, but I was just wondering the motivation behind the trend to little or no information to sell a product. And the reason for the subject of Copy / Transfer is that I don't use no copy items unless they are only 2 or 3 L$, and that is why I need the information before I will buy something.
  15. I had the same problem and for a long time, would never use anything but glove nails. I used the some kind of hand relaxer from someone and it worked, but not all the time. I even made one my self and had no better luck with it. Then one day I tried an AO HUD from AKEYO and found that my hands stayed in the relaxed state all the time. You can add your own stands, up to three (I only use one in it), a walk run and sit. It comes with all of them but you can remove them and add your own. And it only cost 1 L$. NANO AO is what its called. I am not saying it will always work, but it has for me. I now use fingernails of all kinds and don't go out without them. And no, I don't have anything to do with the store but when something is that good at that good a price I have no problem spreading the word.
  16. I've not been doing much lately but I am still in groups for a number of artists. I have been seeing a lot of griefing lately and just the other day I was watching the chatter from one group and before the show was half over the sim was crashed by a griefer. It was so bad they just gave up and canceled the rest of the show. So here is my question, are the griefers that good, or, is LL that bad.
  17. Frankly I don't know exactly what the Feed is for, never saw a reason to look into it. I don't do Facebook or Twitter and my Feed in settings is set to Nobody, that takes care of that.
  18. A rather strange way of doing it, changing your viewer settings, walking, and then changing them back again, but it works, thanks. I guess I didn't really expect anything better from LL viewer, but I can't complain if I don't use it. :matte-motes-dont-cry:
  19. Turn to walk backwards, how do I make my avatar do this? Not that I think it is so important to walk like that but its the only way I can see the front of me to see how my Mesh is moving over my body. Any help would be appreciated. Using LL latest Beta viewer.
  20. Old enough to know better, to young to care.
  21. What, you don't like Dogs, Cats, Foxes, Dragons, Cars, Robots, Fish, Globs, Etc...
  22. Testing. I have an alt and she was made for one reason, to see if my 40K inventory was slowing me down or not. And the only difference I could see was the initial download of my inventory. Other than that having 40K or having 8K inventory made no difference at all as far as I could tell. The only problem is now the Brat wants to play all the time!
  23. You may want to look at Nirans viewer. It is not installed like most software, no registry hooks according to Niran, I think this is correct. Niran is in world often, ask and you will most likely get an answer. Look for NiranV Dean, send a note card or look at the web site.
  24. Penny Patton wrote: Like I said, the height in the appearance editor (at least in the official viewer, many TPVs correct this) is wrong, telling you you're shorter than you actually are. There are a couple scripted rulers which are more or less accurate, but the only 100% accurate method is to hop on a pose stand and manually measure yourself with a prim. I'm going to try the prim thing, when I try to find my height I get everything from 5 feet to 5' 6”. I don't know if I'm just lucky, but in over five years here no one has ever said anything to me about my height. I try to dress nice, and because of that I guess I don't look like a child.
