@Krystina Ferraris, I like the way you think. Simultaneous "Warning, this wasn't cheap" and giving em a laugh to soften the blow before they turned the card over.

(horse vet-stuff in particular is NEVER cheap, even if all the vet has to do is check out the dear friend you're fretting over and prescribe something as simple as a diet change....)

Thank you all for making this thread exist so I can actually kvetch about things and not feel bad for doing so. And yeah, the forums get a lot of drama, but who cares? I can lose it and log off and fume and kick dirt and stomp, and a week later I come back and everybody's the same, because we're all used to it. Hooray for this.

PEEVE EXPLOSION:

People who walk up into the middle of a party and criticize everything, like they're out shopping for a place that's cool enough for them to be there, but, alas, this place is probably too tacky, oh dear, some of it made of primitives, and who ever heard of riding a dolphin, and oh no, this place doesn't mirror the Los Angeles I had envisioned in my mind when I read the description of the sim and it told me about this little beach where people dance because they're all online at the same time and have loved the place for years together.

Guess what? Stick it. Someone built all of this wonderful world, not for YOU, but for ALL of us to enjoy, and if any of it's not as perfect as you would have it, either shut up and get busy making it the so much better that you think you can make it, or shut the EFF up about it and go back to shopping for sex organs and botox lips, because if I'M having a good time somewhere, guess what, it's an AWESOME place, and the PEOPLE are awesome, and even the stale old 80's music playing on the stream is AWESOME, because WE say so. Walk into a party I'm enjoying and start slamming the place? How about go find somewhere else? You... you expletive~!

We build a world and have fun in it, what do YOU do? Critics exist because there will always be people who think they could do it better but can't or won't, and would rather just let sewage pour out of their faces than turn that critical eye on themselves. So XP.

BONUS PEEVE of DOOM, and YES I'M GOING THERE:

My profile states very plainly that I'm not in SL for sex. I realize people are human, and everyone's different, and shouldn't be judged for how they can't help feeling, but I have feelings too, and when I say I don't want to hear it if you're perving over my avatar, I MEAN IT. I play a CHILD.

People treat "adult" subjects like it's all some sort of dirty joke they're playing, and when people treat SL like it's nothing but a place to perv on people without consideration for their feelings, it makes me rage. Guess what? There's a whole other SL out there full of everything your heart desires, so you don't NEED to hang out where I'm building and make comments about my body.

If you're on my friends list, you have even less of an excuse. I don't need to hear every few minutes that you have a thingy and it does things. I don't want to hear that I have a nice butt, I made it as normal-looking as I could because I don't want to walk around with a misshapen butt. If anyone thinks I'm gorgeous, well, thanks, but I always look this way. I didn't put it on for you.

This is the art section, the pornography section is over there, see all those places labeled "A"?

SL is awesome, because I get to be a kid again. Only drawback is that now the creepy people population is higher, and everyone acts like it's normal.

Realizing someone I wanted to have as a dear friend only sees me as pornography breaks my heart. I could even overlook it, MAYBE, if there was more to our friendship than me being some weird fetish object and not even a person. I've put a lot into my Second Life, and none of it was for the sake of people who would engage in behaviors that could get me banned just for being in the same groups and being on each other's friends lists.

TL;DR: I don't care what's in your pants. I don't want to know what you're doing at your keyboard. If you can't even fake being a friend without everything revolving around your junk,  find someone else to act like that around.

I'm usually the shortest person present anywhere I go, and all day long I see grown adults acting like immature little dirtbags out to get in trouble. Grow up. If you wanna play an adult, how about acting like one? How about behaving like a mature person? Why do I have to be the grownup?

Out of the mouths of babes.

You're adorable when peeved, Pheeby.

Maybe if you post a sign, "FREE LIPOSUCTION FOR FAT KITTIES".

On that note, my most unusual stringed instruments are a Tanpura, and an Erhu. Finally ordered a Kamancheh.

Exactly that David, I have a weird sense of humour at times but I also hate to hand the dreaded bill... especially when 1/3 of it is VAT and 1/3 drugs at cost price. You're spot on about everything to do with horses is never cheap, they're such large and complex animals.

Prices for services are more or less set by the vet association here... I worked in a large clinic and the controls we have over what drugs we take out are unreal. Rightly so as there's always a degree of abuse to be expected in a place where crazy substances are handled by 25 year olds 😜 *jk*

For issues where hospitalisation is required (colic most common one), assuming no complications, the poor owner can expect anything between 3 and 5k, depending on the location. I feel lucky with my horses, I can take care of most issues including minor surgeries and do the same for friends. But I've seen people literally faint in the practice when the cost of the service was revealed to them 😞 When I saw that painting I could actually picture the scene in my head....😵

My grandpa had a pair of shires on his farm and wouldn't/couldn't let 'em go, and took in "retirees" from his neighbours too so I grew up around the "heavies". Learned to handle 'em, even learned to drive 'em single or in pairs and laughed with them when they took such a joy in being primped and dressed up for a "show drive" - and bawled like a baby with my grandpa when old age caught up with 'em one by one. Two-ton doofuses with the sweetest hearts on the planet.

Biggest regret, amongst all that - not even a peeve because that would kinda diminish it - is that while hanging around with them I never actually learned to ride

I love all those gentle giants! Shires, Suffolk Punch, Cleveland Bay, Clydes, Percherons... and our own Irish Draught  (the big muzzle in the pic is one of my lads, never mind the other mug with shades lol).

I love them all, they are so big and so gentle, they will work their heart out to please you. I love riding the grey lad but have to admit I find riding any of the heavies a bit tough, they're a workout to get my legs around them lol (I know it sounds wrong) 😂 I've been spoiled with my tb lass and tb X Welch pony where Iiterally cannot put my leg on unless I want to end up in the next county in 1.3s 🐴🦄

You said that already as soon as you mentioned Ireland :) I'm a scotsman, I know what our celtic cousins across the water are like. Love of horses is bred in your blood and bone.

Disappointed Peeve - Seeing people use "Silenced" profile pictures.

Very childish indeed.

Y'all need to grow up. How many times have I heard. SL is SL, RL is RL or SL isn't meant to depict RL Yet, every time you come to the forums you get slapped with it in the face. I think this was a long time coming and a good change. No one is silencing anyone, they are just asking you to post about Second life since...well...these forums are about Second life and post other things on the appropriate platforms.  All those posts do is separate people from the community as a whole. Imagine actually having a conversation with someone and not knowing their political affiliation or views on "social injustice". Anyone that wants to have in-depth discussions about (Politics, Social Justice issues and Interpersonal disputes) certainly has the choice of forming a group in-world for all the discussion you want.

Far as I'm concerned, I'm gonna keep on posting what I post, where I post it ....

I agree.  I'm not gonna change my behavior since I don't think I was doing anything wrong in the first place.  I may discover I was wrong about that but for now I'm just gonna carry on.

Peeve: people who demand to be listened to and say it is Freedom of Speech. Yeah, you have Freedom of Speech but if we don't wish to listen to you, we walk away. We have Freedom of Choice.

Most folks don't get what "freedom of speech" really means. It means the GOVERNMENT can't put restrictions on what you say in public. They can only stop you talking about stuff entirely if its classified and you had access to it as part of an official role. They can make reasonable restrictions on how you say things in public for public safety ("FIRE!" in a crowded theatre, etc) but they can't  stop you saying them.

They also can't stop other folks listening to what you say and thinking you're an a-hole. If those other folks go beyond that and decide not to do business with you or anyone who supports you, that's THEIR free speech in play. Those other folks can also decide to invert your snoot, but that's illegal in its own right and nothing to do with restricting or allowing your speech.

NONE of which applies on a forum like this one. It is not a public place, it is a members forum run and administered by LL - as such it is "private property" and the owners can make such rules as they see fit on what is said here without "free speech" being infringed. You can say whatever you like, it's just the owners of this place choose not to allow it to be said HERE - which is THEIR right.

Amongst all those other freedoms, you have the freedom to take the consequences.

Thank you for explaining that to those in the back. If LL decided that they didn't want anyone to talk about cats - EVER then they have the right to do that and remove any thread or post that mentioned a cat in any way. Now, we don't want that do we?

here we are now in our typical weather (just feeding them dinner 🍲)

There's quite a few of us about the place :) And quite a few more who'd want you to believe they ARE us... Not quite as many as the folks who want you to believe their neon-encrusted club s a typical "Irish pub" though.

Check out "Nessies Neuk" or one of the other venues in the same group of sims when there's music on. I'd recommend avoiding Nessie's on Wednesdays around 1pm SLT, because that's when I take over the stream with my caterwauling. Regular ceilidh every week and a decent schedule of DJs - group of sims run by a bunch of scots to celebrate our corner of these islands.

After all..

"Wha's liek us?"
"Precious few, an they're a' deid!"

ETA: The view out of my window here in Edinburgh is a bit less grey but seriously lacking in friendly beasties.
