Is it a violation of the TOS in any way to ask a resident for their RL ID to prove their age?

Wouldn't really be any good way of proving anything anyways, if it was a underage person they could just pretty much take their mom or dad's ID. Heck even parents register for their teen without having any idea what Second life can contain, which I know from my own experience as my mom did register for me years ago.

Asking for someone's ID I see personally as uncalled for regardless, if they are comfortable going on voice maybe that is a way to tell if their older or not, but that is a choice they should be able to make themselves.

As someone who has owned and ran multiple clubs and sims, no. It is not against the TOS is verify someone's age if you believe them to be wrongfully accessing adult content you provide.

Considering you as the owner can be held liable and even suspended from SecondLife for exposing underage residents to explicit material, taking proper measures against people who have falsified their credentials to get past SecondLife's restrictions is part of your due diligence. That said, I would restrict such actions to those who's age has cause for doubt as opposed to making it a general requirement for all patrons. Just remember you are not allowed to share any information you collect from this as that in and of itself is a TOS violation.

How are you supposed to know someone has falsified their credentials? You are not liable for others behavior in SL. If they broke the ToS by lying about their age when they joined, that is on them. If you report them for being underage if and when you find out, you have CYA.

You have ZERO legal standing to demand ID to enter a virtual club on a service that already verifies ages.

Nope - totally not.  You can be held responsible for a CHILD AVATAR being in proximity to sexual items or sexual activity.

As for avatars that present themselves as adult, their RL age has no bearing on anything and you will not be responsible for anything they do.

Totally wrong.  Someone lying about their RL age will not get you in any trouble and thus trying to verify their age is a completely worthless task.

They can still deny access to whoever they like for whatever reason they like (real or imaginary) since it's private owned land.

Of course the other party is free to deny such info and instead of being there they will keep on playing their SL elsewhere.

I would never said, nor would i ever say, a land owner or their representative couldn't do that.  My land, my rules.

Of course.. now give me your ID and i also want you to Fedex me some of your country's traditional sweets .. or else we won't be SL friends.

Exactly.  You can't disclose it through any SL/LL sites.  Anywhere else is fair game and why it's, in my opinion, foolish to give out too much personal info.  Internet safety 101.

It should be against TOS and if you want a "job" in Second Life they give you a notecard "application" with ALL of your personal info like age, real name, residing, male or female,  it's a red flag to steal your identity

Not all jobs in SL do that.   Find one that doesn't want your info.

I have never come across a business in SL that demanded RL info aside from time zone. A business that did demand all that info would quickly find itself with no staff.

When I was still a dancer, then host and later briefly a DJ, the most "intrusive" question I ever came across on an app myself was "are you over 18 in RL?"

Same here, I think the most intrusive was "are you ok with sexual situations?" when i was a dancer/escort. Its like, i applied for the job didnt i?

"Show me your ID to verify you are over 18...... Oh wait, isn't Jonathan(¹) a male name? This position is for a female! No, we don't care that your avatar called Tanya18468 is female, your ID shows you are a male so goodbye!"
10 seconds later the person is banned from the location and the group, as well as blocked from messaging the owners and managers without a chance to explain anything or to appeal.

(¹) Worse yet, the woman's RL name could be one that is unisex or differently gendered in different languages, Like when a girl's parents decided to call her Jan (short for Janice), or Logan, Charlie, Billie/Billy, etc.

if said club is in collab with a RL business, they can ask for proof especially if it concerns a serious matter

Then the RL business should ask for proof outside of SL. All we have to go by is what LL accepts as proof. It certainly wouldn't be reasonable to ask someone or everyone we are going to have sex with in SL to provide RL ID. Within the TOS, yes, but reasonable, no.  The same would apply to any porn site on the internet. What concrete proof does anyone actually have that any models or actors are of legal age? It certainly wouldn't be reasonable to contact the author of any photos or the production company of videos to provide proof of age. And it would be required BEFORE we view the pic or video, if we have reasonable doubt.
