This is December 2006.  While out shopping with my first SL BF for animations I experienced my first griefer.   And yes I do believe it was at Cristiano Midnight's store.  I'd forgotten that til i noticed the name on the store tonight.

He shot me with a cager gun that looked more like a tentacle than a cage.

I sat on one of the animation vendors to escape.  Not bad for being less than a month old lol.

I just love the real life memories we all have with our old photos - and you dealt very well with being caged, especially as a newbie.

"We all have our time machines, don't we? Those that take us back are memories, and those that carry us forward are dreams."
Jeremy Irons in: The Time Machine (US 2002)

I don't have any old pictures anymore, but I like the shared SL memories here.

I believe this is my first dance in Second Life in early December 2006.  I remember the guy was from Australia.

This is the same place (The Shelter) just a day or two later in my first non-freebie dress.

I loved particle generators, and swishy prim skirts and dance animations. Your photos made in SL are just as relevant and precious as those made in real life - don't you just wonder where all those people are who you met in your early months?  I was amazed at how many different countries could actually log into Second Life. And time zones still baffle me.

Apparently the forum won't let me upload anything more in another post. I'll try again later.

I can smell plywood and grass when I look at these lovely early photos. My mind always tricked me into believing I could always smell plywood and grass whenever I was logged into Second Life in the good old prim days. Thank you for sharing your photos - they are fabulous.

These are from 2010-2011.
With my bff who was the person who got me on SL in the first place.

Spent a lottt of time at clubs, many of which ended up being furry clubs. Pretty friendly folks though.

...Also, apparently back then I had no concept of shoulders.

Oops! Yes, I meant nekos.

I've come across a few in the past year or two. I don't really see any out in the general populous though - mostly just in anime or 'kawaii' themed areas.
Either way, it's much less glaringly obvious now though cause they aren't using those crazy giant horse tails anymore.

This is the Absinthe Cafe in my New Orleans City on May 5, 2009.

This is the same place today, May 28, 2020.  Just over 11 years later.

It's the same build but updated a good bit over the years.

I love these, to see the differences as your world has evolved.  Another 10 years from now and Second Life, our avatars, our beloved places, will no doubt look completely different again.  But always you retain the character and essence of all you put your time into.

I've been trying to find 2009 photos and am having a hard time. I have quite a few 2010 and even more 2011. But here's a 2010 of me at the Far Away.

The Far Away_001.jpg

ETA: 2010 a Pteron. Oldbies should remember both of these places. I believe the Far Away is still around.

Next, one of my first friends in SL. She taught me a lot about SL. We were very close. One day she just never came back. I still wonder what happened to her. early 2007

And for a very long time i was a drake named Drake. Small little firelizard.

This is me with my best bud Cyrus at Fallen Angels Creations. Gods i miss them. I was their pet. Like their actual pet not the BDSM type pet. I would curl up at their feet, chase the regulars around the store. Fun times.

I love these, Drake, and the stories behind them.  Being a pet, that is so beyond cute. And where would we have been without the help from good friends during our early weeks/months in Second Life?  Wonderful photos, thank you for sharing them, Drake.
