  1. Well Mainland 2.0 doesn't exist as a product. It's just a forum thread discussing something some folks wish was a product. If they ever did a new mainland - who knows what it would be. Probably a little of what we want combined with a whole lot of what we don't.
  2. Yeah I expected this one to last weeks, but it was gone in hours or shorter. Some of the ARs I'd filed in 2023 took forever to get handled, so I'd been thinking the backlog must be way out of control. Half my thinking though was that - I'd thought this kind of attack was a thing of the past. I've not seen a griefer in SL in years, let alone one doing a land based 'rez junk' attack. Almost makes me wonder if this was an accident of someone messing with a 'prim carving' system. The closest I'd seen was maybe 6 months back when someone one region over from my belli houseboat rezzed a "skydome" in their plot that had a "radius" of about 1000m - meaning it covered up almost 20-25 regions and was partly transparent so during day you'd see 'stars' and at night you'd see it's settings and not your own day cycle. And that was almost certainly someone who had no idea what kind of product they'd bought.
  3. Looking at them if you go through them they seem to still have a lot of people - and green dots in there denote that many of those people are perfectly happy staying there. On the land page you can see how many are available. If you wanted to do the math... counting regions and so on - you could figure out how many are taken. Somewhere I saw a thing that said they were about 40-50% full, but I can't recall if that was an official source, from a bot scan, or just a forum poster making up statistics like 47.3% of all posts here tend to be. My suspicion is they will go away when they start to become unprofitable.
  4. I've got 2 on reborn. I linked one of them to the body. The other had a script and an animation inside of it - so I just moved those to inside the body on a part that didn't have other scripts. Cut 3 attachment uses down to 1 that way. Sneaky thing is that even if a deformer is no-mod, if what's inside is an animation, you can rip animations out of no-mod items. So grab them out, put them into a part of something else, and google up a short script to keep it playing (I wrote one that checks every 10 seconds or so).
  5. Yeah... There are 3 ways SL can do animations: Some code that says "play this animation". It will play once, or if a looped animation play again. The code might include something to 'play it again' in case there's a non-looped animation stuffed into an AO. This is the old method for AOs. It's manual and it's why scripted AOs used to break in no-script areas. Firestorm or other TPV built in system. I don't know what these do but they seem to do something different from the first method and the method I'll mention next. These always seem to have some kind of 'lag' when switching. You'll start running and it will take a moment to get off of walk, or whatever. Once you know what to look for you kind of can't stop seeing this lag issue, maybe even imagining it when it's not there - but when it is it's all you can see for a moment. The "new" method is to set your animation state. As in change your SL default animations. This only requires scripts be working when you first run it, or when you change your default. BUT it doesn't "stick" across logins so you have to run it once each time you log in. New AOs just put this on a long timer. So... every minute or so they'll change your default. Enter a no-script area and you just keep using what you were on with no issues. This is also on the 'server side' so never has 'lag'. They added this in 2013, but even 10 years later most animations makers are still packing their animations in an old 2003 era AO... So you kind of have to get this one yourself from a script maker and toss it into a prim along with your animations yourself because animations makers can't be bothered to grab 10 year old free kits that will update all the AOs they sell. Having a MOD body, I can actually put my AO and a lot of other things inside parts of the body - cutting down on attachment points. I've been a bit lazy though. So what I actually do is link all my mod huds together, and stuff some custom things in them. And then I've done things like link together body part addons (reborn waifu linked to reborn) and keep a couple copies for each configuration because doing this breaks the 'HUD' that reborn makes for it's body (they could have scripted to prevent that, but didn't, because it's a little more complicated to do). If you have a no-mod body - look for anything you "almost always have on" and if it's bento or rigged and doesn't need it's scripts once you've customized it - link it to other things that are usually worn with it.
  6. Rez out your stuff and start linking together the things you're always wearing. If it's no-mod and can't be linked - switch brands. (I'm aware 2 of the the top three mesh bodies are no-mod, and most of the heads are no-mod... and I don't expect people to just jump because of this. But they SHOULD pressure those brands to stop being jerks. That said, all sorts of other things can be linked, and most HUDs don't need to be kept on most of the time...)
  7. It's actually in the Belli covenant that you can't broadcast light into another person's land. For me, that'd be one of the things that ought to be in a mainland set of rules too. Technically you could AR over it under existing mainland as object littering - which often gets it's definition stretched. Belli covenant is of course the way it is because it's designed solely for "homes". Zoning residential away from all other kinds of property is a uniquely USA thing. Most of the world favors mixed use, and many US cities that had most of their development prior to the automobile have 'exceptions' for mixed use in 'historic areas' - though many such areas were torn down in the mid-20ths century because the auto industry didn't want people being able to walk. - So a lot of Belli's weird covenant is actually made to support the desires of long dead Chevrolet and Ford CEOs. BUT... remove some of those pieces and you have the starting concept for a mainland 2.0 - that then just needs to be "freed up" a bit more and have some AR categories expanded.
  8. Historically no matter how high you set your camera 1000m (or maybe 1025m?) up could not be seen from ground and vice versa. So it was basically the "lag cut off point". Anything above 1000m will not effect render lag of anyone at ground and anyone in a skybox won't have their computer trying to do math on things at ground. That at least was true a decade or so ago. All the changes in SL since might have made things different. There's no reason for anything 'flying' to want to have access to your land up that high. BUT there is value for a skybox to be lower and lower. Some mesh items still 'break apart with tiny seams' as you go up - and the higher up you go the more noticeable this becomes. I'd say this is my only complaint with Belli. The perfect height for a skybox is basically 1025m up. But Belli restricts that. And yet no 'flyer' needs to be that high. If you're a flyer above 1000m - you're basically RPing as a space ship because you can't render the scenery of the ground - and at that point you can fly anywhere as all SL land will be the same for you.
  9. I do wish that some places could be in search. Maybe not the homes - but some of the large mole builds like the castle in the fantasy region, the old lodge on the original belli continent, that new carnival like spot in the Victorians, the various airports, and so on. It would be nice to see folks in those community venues more often. As for homes - there are some that have become hangouts / social clubs. Letting them be in search seems like a good idea - though people running commercial clubs on mainland and estates might see that differently (unfair competition). And it's one thing to have a Belli music club that has a half dozen people in it often, and another to have one that has 40+ people 24/7.
  10. I'm always reading people saying they were badly made or look bad or are too this or that but to me yeah - they're still some of the best looking homes in Belli.
  11. I think "greenlanes" can solve the "I don't want roadside" issue while still making interior plots valuable to 'the general public'. A greenlane is a just a gap of protected land between parcel A and B. For me - this whole thing would need a lot of water land that is 80m or MORE deep. That said... I'm not sure I see the value in the concept, but maybe it's there. The only real differences between this whole idea and Belli is: banlines no-warning instance security orbs with autoban commercial plots premade build already on the land some respect for the local theme in your build. lights that cover over other people's land Height limits So... which of those are the "deal breakers"? The things that could NOT be in this Mainland 2 concept? For me, if there was a mainland 2.0, I would still want it to have these rules: No lights that cover over other people's land No banlines Some respect for the local theme in your build. no-warning instance security orbs allowed only above 1000m No privacy screens below 1000m Walls / fence must be high resolution objects (no prim with a texture) No fullbright /glow below 1000m visible from outside the plot unless on an active light source Hight limits - maybe. This would need to be refined. Giant builds have their place. This rule is usually triggered in Belli when something else is also an issue but not a 'to the letter' violation. Like a 40m tall glowing prim. Glow isn't a violation... but I've seen tall prims get ignored until they started being a visual nuisance. - That last one is where I know I want some rule, but can't put my finger on just what. The thing I'd want this to also have, that even Belli lacks, is a rule that says "some subjective judgement if something 'is a problem' in the ability of neighbors to use and / or enjoy their land, the moles have authority to zap it." Of course I think at this point, my idea of what I'd want is no longer compatible with the rest of the thread's participants. Which is kind of why I mostly stick to Belli and always struggle with enjoying my mainland parcels.
  12. My favorite artist for years was Alphonse Mucha. I've always wanted a long flowing gown like he'd often draw in his turn of the 20th century poster art - where the top was open bust with fine jewelry for a clasp. I've seen a few over the years in SL made for things like the system body on standard sizes, or made as 'mini skirts' but not full length gowns. Even though his art is over a century old and in the category of fine art now, pics of what I'm describing probably violate the rules of the forum. But google him. EDIT: These two were made in the era of standard sizes, so don't fit any modern mesh body: Also the strap up top is simple, rather than a brooch, pendant, or necklace as Mucha often used in his posters. Though I guess the simple strap makes it easier to mix and match with various other fashion choices. I would love to see designs like this for eBody reBorn with Waifu, and suspect it would be popular for many bodies as well. Would likely be best sold with a second NOT linked attachment that was a style matching bra so this gown could be used in varied locations.
  13. I would be totally for that if instead of click and clop as you walked, it told short 'dozens' insults or similar witty repartee.
  14. Everything is perfectly fine today. EDIT: And humor aside this resolved itself after a teleport out and back in.
  15. My impression is that YouTube reacts very fast to complaints that involve content theft. File it under something like that as a copyright strike on YouTube. Hist channel could get demonetized or even removed. Inside of SL... much as I hate them put up an orb that just removes any avatar under x-days old. https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Send_home_and_ban_avs_less_than_description_field_days_old - This makes it complicated for him to make a series of alts, as it will require prep time and waiting.
  16. You're best using RL 1:1 scale for furnishings and so on - but you will need to add in a little bit of size to rooms due to camera issues. Even if you tell users to adjust their cameras to "MMO norms" of the near behind over the shoulder and close in perspective that bloggers have been talking about for 12 years now with the default camera STILL being so bad... and even if 100% of all visitors followed that advice - 1:1 scale wall heights and room spacing would still be a bit cramped. However adjusting internal objects to 1:1 would let you reduce other things somewhat, more properly reflect the thing it was based on in the real world, and save you a LOT of land impact allowing the build to be larger or more detailed.
  17. Isn't this a 'known issue' with belleza bodies or was that just freya?
  18. tier is your land allowance. If you haven't bought any other land somewhere or don't have another linden home on that same account then you have the "tier", or land allowance, to get a linden home. I have used premium plus before to get back a home I used to have. There's a process to submit a ticket to get a specific plot of land, if you're premium plus. Those tickets tend to get resolved pretty quickly during USA business hours.
  19. It's a part of it. But there's a lore more to it as well. eBody is mod-friendly. There are lots of mods to it as noted by the post above me. Two addons for larger breasts is just one of it's features. And it's the ONLY body of normal proportions that allows for a larger bosom with a brand supported official addon (there third party addons for this for both freya and maitreya but they failed to keep up with the main body updates by a scale of years and had little support). So for anyone wanting a larger but not cartoon large bosom eBody reBorn is the ONLY choice (you can go for things likt kupra but the look is more extreme, usually cartoonish). When something becomes the ONLY option for a given demand it tends to dominate in that demand sector. Meanwhile for smaller chests both Maitreya and Legacy have options - rather than enter an untapped market they chose to compete head to head in that area, leaving a space open for reBorn to carve out and grow a customer base. The large number of mods after that, and the body being copy/mod just adds to things. Consider that one feature of it being mod is I can link all the addons I want, unlink the things I'm not using - and get my entire look as one single attachment with a lot of 'laggy vertices' simply gone. I can rip out scripts I'm not using, add in my own scripts (I use my mesh body to store assorted scripts I'd otherwise have HUDs and parts for). In that I can link in the deformers I always use. - For people that enjoy modding to get the exact customization they want, this is a huge value add for reBorn. It was particularly handy for my furry alt - to just link in the parts, and edit the body to add a custom 'furry hair' material layer. The only downside is the orc picture I posted above... that's at butt size 0, leg muscles in the 30s or 40s, and I think a few other extreme dials as well. You can get reBorn down to normal - but by default it's closer to Kupra. reBorn is really a competitor against kupra that wins over kupra because it can dial down to 'almost freya'. But doesn't go as thin as 'default maitreya'.
  20. I wonder if this partly explains why the fantasy regions are not as popular. Most residents don't know to come here and talk about an issue, nor even that filing a report "against" a mole actually just lets the mole know the issue is there. Ie: people might not realize how to get the issue addressed, and might think it's "working as intended" and just happens to "suck" rather than be bugged. How many people give up in their dream of a fantasy home because the controller is wonky?
  21. That surprises me given that Maitreya has two different smaller chest addons and no larger chest addon. I was under the impression that smaller chests had much greater customer demand than larger - that my own shape preference was an extreme outlyer (I've seen people with comically big chest addons - but my preference for "the end point of actually possible" seems rare - it's all "flat -> petite -> nothing in between before reBorn Waifu came out -> bigger than Texas"
  22. Ah I see where you're going now. Yeah none of the bodies work well for that. In theory you might be able to do this look using a male body. There are a lot of female bodies that have mods to give them male parts - but I've not see the reverse. Maybe it exists and I've missed it. But I suppose this look could be done if we imagined a world where something like the Maitreya small chest and the 'bento V' attachments both existed for the Gianni male or Belleza Jake bodies. If we were in Sims 4 this would be an easy thing to put together - albeit at cartoon resolution. Another issue would be getting a skin for that - none of the female skins that I know of really have strong muscle tone. As most they have a swimmer or gymnast's level of tone. Unless of course there's a choice I've not yet seen. Anyway... My pic of my orc using pasties and a thong appears to have been too much for this forum yesterday. I'd wanted to show as much of the body itself as possible but OK. Here's my orc again in a bikini. Posting so I can talk about aspects of reBorn. reBorn lets me do that - a heavy top on a not too heavy bottom. Though it took some extreme shape dials to get the bottom half "dialed down" this much. Waifu attachment can do 'normal size'. This is size 45. For me it starts to break below that: I needed a deformer to get the rear in a bit - said deformer causes some clothing items to 'pull inside the body' and clip... so that's not ideal but works with most of my stuff: Which gives a decent enough shape, not as nice as Belleza Freya was, but better than Belleza Gen.X:
  23. I haven't seen this kind of griefer attack in almost a decade. These objects have a script in them to continuously change their shape using complex prim cuts - about once per second. There are possibly hundreds of objects all over the region. The objects seem to spam over much of the Raelma region, and have made it very difficult to move around even when cutting camera distance to keep them out, as they're doing constant collisions. This is at 500 distance out looking from above: A little closer in:
