  1. Starting January 2022, every Saturday 9pm JST (Japan Standard Time) equivalent to 4:00am PST / 5:00am PDT (depending on Daylight Savings Time), Yoshi Sensei, a native Japanese volunteer will guide Japanese language learners through both Genki 1 & Genki 2 textbooks, with light homework / revisions to discuss the next Saturday. It's free and Voice Chat is required. Genki 1 Study Group will start mid-January 2022, most likely on Saturday, 9pm JST if there's enough participants. Genki 2 Study Group will start on Saturday too, 8th January 2022, 10pm JST and this is confirmed due to having a couple of existing learners. New participants are welcome if you're already done with Genki 1. Yoshi Sensei plans to guide us with Genki 1 and Genki 2 back-to-back every weekend, from January onwards. Even though I'm starting Genki 2 next year, I'm glad he is doing Genki 1 again at the same time too. I still need to brush up on some learned grammars to polish my comprehension and fluency. Now here's the copy and pasted notice from Yoshi Sensei: And here's a note from the owner of Nihongo Tea Room, Mystie-san, another native Japanese who regularly observes the class. Her English is superb, hence she helps Yoshi Sensei when there are difficult queries from learners. In Nihongo Tea Room, we’re encouraged to speak mostly in Japanese to each other and the relaxed atmosphere makes it feel like we’re at home, rather than in a classroom. In fact, they rather not call it a school because the setting is more casual. For now, we have classmates from America, Australia, France and Poland, while I'm from Malaysia. This also makes it an interesting place to learn about other cultures from different countries while speaking Japanese. Important Note: Nihongo Tea Room has security set to kick newbies (mainly to avoid trolls). Admins would have to manually add a person if their Second Life account is younger than 2 weeks old. So if you’re new to Second Life, please send me an IM before coming by, and then I will inform the owner so she can add you in a safe list. Supposing that your account has past 2 weeks old in Second Life, search for ‘Nihongo Tea Room’ and you will see a Teleporter to the place we have our events every week. If everything still seems too confusing, feel free to IM me and I’ll do my best to help explain things in more detail. Below are snapshots from some of our sessions (photo credit to Mystie-san). Looking forward to welcoming you to our Japanese learning community. よろしくお願いします。

  6. Modern Japanese town located on the northern west coast of Japan. Anime inspired Role-play with balanced RP .Police, Fire station, Ryokan, Shinto Shrine, School, Arcade, Beach Yokai Forest, lounge and Rentals. You don't have to be a hard core role-player to be there or roleplay at all. There are many things available to enjoy along with just the atmosphere. The Owner and the builders take pride and trying to keep the look as close as possible in theme so this area is great for people who also enjoy taking photo's. There are fun IC (in character) events that take place and some more enjoyed in OOC (out of character). So don't be shy to visit very welcoming and inclusive. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Tohoku/141/162/2026 A Rated
  7. セカンドライフの日本語ユーザー向けサーバーのメンバー募集です。 - Support for Japanese language. 9. I think this goes here. Offering my services as a document translator between English and Japanese. I charge L$50(less then $0.30usd)/word and there's no min or max. This service is perfect for those that are making their own manga/translating a manga, submitting a report somewhere, or just want to know what words or pages are. I don't do to well on the spoken parts of Japanese but I can translate other things then listed, just shoot me a PM in world. I don't use any web-based translator as their all inaccurate and instead use my knowledge from DuoLingo. Those interested should look up my alt Rycona Bamaisin as that's the name i'm on the most. Arigatoukazaimasu ^_^

  12. NOTE: This isn't my sim, but I had just discovered this sim MY THOUGHTS OF THE SIM: Been seeking for a decent modern Japan sim in SL for quite a while and finally found it!!! It is nicely done and has a lot of residential rentals and it comes with an RP hud that you submit your roleplaying to level up! DETAILS FROM THE SIM: Small Japanese town, with farms and farm houses in the outskirts. We have a shrine, a school that is currently looking for staff and students, a functional Ryokan with mens and ladies onsens, police and fire stations, shops, restaurants, several homes and a few apartments, convenience store, medical center, even a laundromat and graveyard and a forest of questionable safety for exploration and RP fun! Come join us! Follow the Teleport below. When you land, follow the signs, step into the station to gather your information, and an RP hud , then up the platform stairs and click the train to arrive in town! Hope to see you there! http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Kopikopiko/97/155/60 Here are some pics I took of the sim:
  13. I was looking for a Japanese mesh head. I'm currently wearing SOMEMORE / SaeBom mesh head, but is non mod and i see a lot of people wearing it.. and i have no sisters, so... ...and it is not really asian.. Thank you very much.
  14. Hozuki sim (A-rated) offers you: 1 pretty japanese house with 200 prims for 200 Lindens/week. And small rooms in the big okiya house for 100L/100 prims/week. ^-^ This is my first time I do public rentals, so please IM Faye Snowfall after you have rented the unit, so I can add you to the tennants group and discuss any questions. Have a good day ♥ taxi: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sunset Heights/193/104/23
  15. Hello, I'm looking to find or put together a Japanese police uniform for roleplay in Japanese town sims. Does anybody know any Japanese police uniforms available on the marketplace, or any accessories that can be used in such a roleplay? Badges, helmets, hats, vests, armbands, that sort of thing? I know there are Japanese police vehicles on the marketplace, so it seems like people want to at least drive or display a Japanese police car, if not roleplay as Japanese police. But I haven't been able to find any uniforms in Second Life; do they exist, and if not, are there any good items I can use to put together a uniform for such roleplays? Can anybody point out any items or otherwise point me in the right direction? I'm looking for a female uniform for myself, but also possibly some male uniforms for colleagues. I know that some people in some Japanese sims prefer to use a more non-standard anime character, but I'm looking for more realistic uniforms if possible. A quick search for Japanese police uniforms revealed quite a diverse range of styles from regular patrol uniforms, highway and traffic police, motorcycle units, riot and public order uniforms and formal dress uniforms. Such a range would be nice, but I'm firstly looking for something basic and versatile, and distinctively Japanese, perhaps with some Japanese writing and Japanese police emblems. Some riot gear and formal dress uniforms are quite difficult to find for police; there seems to be a lack of Japanese emergency uniforms in general. If anybody could help out, I would appreciate it enormously!

  18. I'm speaking mainly of East Asians, in particular Chinese -- the kind you see everyday but rarely in SL. Chinese are not even shown in the grouping of new comer countries though we have been in and participated since the beginning. Some of the most popular companies in the past like DrLife were Chinese owned and created and brought SL to other countries. What happened? Even here in the U. S. where Second Life's company is based, Asians no longer are seen and represented. Many, like me, speak fluent english and those who don't use translators to get by. Many of us who want to be real members compete for the few Asian avatars that are available, others just blend in with the many beautiful white avatars that are available. They can be witch, demon, princess but they still know they are White people playing roles. For the past year I watched to see the new skins that came out. Some were the same faces but darkened to appear like women of color. Most Asians were ignored completely, but when it did appear it was with five other white skins. I see noting wrong with there being five new White skins - don't get me wrong. The Chinese say 'let a thousand flowers bloom". But please also let Asians be in that bouquet also.

  21. Our annual Fall dance is soon arriving, Mizuekai will be held in 5 scenes on November 19th between 10.40 - 11.40 am slt For those who are visiting my blog for the first time, Mizuekai (みずゑ會) is the event at which the Miyagawacho geiko and maiko display the traditional performance techniques of the Wakayagi style of Kyomai dance, to the study of which their daily lives are devoted. Traditionally, the Mizuekai was the testing ground of the skills of apprentice dancers, and in comparison with the Kyo Odori dance event held in spring, it has a strong feeling of a recital at which the participants present the fruits of their committed training. As a result, it attracts large numbers of true aficionados of traditional dance, allowing visitors to appreciate performances of an even higher standard. LM: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Kyoto/193/205/31 * In case you would like to have Mizuekai poster placed at your sim, please contact Maiko Kikumaru(belliebeth) for further information and help.
