  1. I don't even want to know how many man hours LL had to cough up for this so far totally disappointing new improvement result. Most people want to enjoy an as simple as possible SL IMHO. What they get: Steep learning curves, that get steeper and steeper after each major improvement.
  2. LL. A new implementation. 'Nuff said. The "midday (legacy)" setting isn't invented for nothing I guess.
  3. I'm on the LL viewer, and everything works lika a charm at the moment (and during the last couple of days)
  4. I had a few over the years too. One left SL in the end and with the other one: we grew apart. Peeve: I'm not social enough in SL to let grow new ones, I guess.
  5. They do because they can. They simply accept that there will be a lot of more or less useless mainly vanity applications along the route. LL doesn't need hundreds of good alpha testers. If 5 - 10 of the people who apply are really usable for alpha testing, they are good for the project. They will concentrate on those 5 - 10. The rest they basically just let dabble around. "Thank you for your highly appreciated input. We have send it straight away to the right place in our organization". (The trash can.) And as a side effect they might get new PP sign ups ($$$$$$$$$) and free early advertisement by the vanity only and blogger applicants.
  6. Getting names on the friends list and having real friends inworld are two different things IMHO. Yes, I have names on the friends list. Nice people too. But a real friend as in a friend? Nope, not one either. One can't force things. Neither in RL or in SL. A friendship grows over time or it doesn't. Most of the time not and acquaintance is the highest reached level.
  7. Selling straight from a box can either give you the box or create a folder with the inventory of the box. It is in fact the simplest way to put up stuff for sale. But a lot of people prefer buying goods with automatic re-delivery as a feature. In world automatic re-delivery and giving out folders in the customers inventory are not possible at the same time, because vendors with re delivery options use drop boxes. On the marketplace it is possible to deliver and re-deliver unpacked folders. It works with a different system than an inworld drop box. One simply can't win them all. Different customers have different preferences and requests.
  8. The current youngsters grow up with their phones. We had photo's or it did not happen. They have on the phone or it did not happen. Laptops are for the use in those technically outdated schools. For the rest: phone, phone and a play station. I use my smartphone basically for 5 things: 1. as a phone. 2. to check the glucose levels in my blood 3. As navigator with google maps during my road trips 4. Agenda. 5. Camera.
  9. Bing AI came up with this one for the fantasy theme: I would even go premium plus for one of those.
  10. I don't use notifications by mail. I simply regularly check the threads that I'm interested in. Check your e-mail spam box. It might be very well possible that the notifications land there if you don't exclude Linden Lab mails. I had that when I started as a merchant and let me send a mail for every purchase.
  11. Don't expect the big land barons to explain to you how to start competition. The pricing LL uses are all in your dashboard of your account on the secondlife.com website. If there is a discount for the really big boys and girls in the market (not talking about 2,4, or 10 sims here), they will not let you know. Just like with RL businesses.
  12. Are you premium plus? If not, forget it. This is Linden Lab and Second Life. One has to pay up. Even if one wants to volunteer to help.
  13. Read the last line of their announcement of today. The Lab even thinks that people will upgrade now, only to have a chance to do alpha testing for them. Yeah right. That is not how the software industry normally works. Most of the time there is even something in it for the testers apart form early access. It is another blunt example of Philip's Love Machine dream at work. They want the alpha and beta testers to pay for their efforts. Brilliant. Do you know why this still isn't the industry standard after all these years that mr. Rosedale is dreaming this dream already? I do. The new phone browser is so important to become a success for the further development of SL. But, not my company, not my livelihood, only a part of my entertainment. Why do I worry about it? I won't any more. Yesterday I was really baffled about this approach. Now I think kudos for the Lab if they succeed. They should be competent enough to handle it. Look how often they already put a successful product in the market. They know what they are doing. Owwww..... wait..... But not my beer anymore. I just shrug and move on after this post. Maybe visiting the last Shop'n Hop sims? The ones I skipped so far?
  14. I suggest to use another thread to discuss this. We all know how trigger happy Lindens can get if they dislike a subject. Let's not spoil the pet peeve thread on that. Maybe this is less harmful for the forums when it should get closed:
  15. I would go for handing out the alpha version to people who have time and skills to find bugs and flaws and suggest improvements. But no, it is all about to lure people into premium plus to make some extra USD. I did a few testing projects over the time for educational software, but having to shell out extra money to maybe get the opportunity to test is new to me. I won't.
  16. https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Deeding_land_to_groups Summary: First create an own group, than Go to the land and right-click it. Select About Land from the menu. Click on the General tab. Click the Set button next to the Group name. A list of groups will appear. Select the group you want (I suggest your own group) and click Set. Check the Allow Deed to Group box and click the Deed button.
  17. The biggest vendor system, that people like so much because every redevivery terminal redelivers everything you once bought trough such a vendor machine, can't give out folders, because it uses drop boxes. As we all know one can't put folders into boxes, neither can merchants in their vendor boxes. So I can see why a lot comes in boxes or a hud that give you the folder. And for the rest, as a merchant one never can win them all, different people have different preferences. Just read this thread. There will even be people out there who complain that the goodies ain't wrapped in yellow paper. Every merchant should know that yellow wrapping paper is the new black. How dare they sell me something wrapped in an other paper color? And what about merchant X who doesn't even include a free 500 L$ dinner card? 😉
  18. @Solar Legion Only laugh when people say something that doesn't comply with your views, isn't the best discussion method either. Just saying.
  19. But isn't it also an acknowledgement from LL that they can be used abusively and they even expect that some creators will? So I feel better safe than sorry, and only accept a request when I'm convinced that I have something to gain from an experience, not because a sim owner/builder/creator wants me to use what they created and think that is good for me. So far I missed out what is going on on a few sims, because I got a request to accept under my nose right away on arrival. But I can live with that. I like to be in charge of my own SL as much as possible.
  20. Why is there a "report abuse"-button in the experience dialog box, if experiences are so safe?
  21. Maybe most of them are in RL? It seems to be more than a rumor, there is piling evidence that it really exists.
