  1. There are more than a few places I would love to see on your side of the pond as well. But long distance traveling has become really expensive over the years. So chances are very slim that those places will ever get from my bucket list. (Well I have tickets for tonight's Euro Jackpot Lottery, so 🤞 ....) All the three places I mentioned are only a 6-10 hour drive from where I live and I book a simple airbnb apartment there. That is affordable for me. It is a shame we don't have teleport facilities in RL.
  2. If one has to fork up an aditional 21% VAT (when from my country) the story becomes different I guess, then a sim lease from ACS or other baron becomes a serious option.
  3. Relaxing in SL can be a good substitute for a RL vacation IMHO. I haven't been on a RL vacation for three years now. But I'm thinking of going to the Black Forest, Alsace in France or Switzerland this summer, because SL is never totally the same as RL (the weather conditions are far more predictable though).
  4. When one moves it with their own car it is called a caravan. This is named a camper in NL. A large one sometimes motor home. RV is not used as a name over here. I had to look that one up.
  5. I had enough of my house underneath my platform, so I took it down. Now I live here, until I will find a nice one to replace the old house on my forest parcel.
  6. Possibly there is a log in hick up at the moment for you locally, maybe you made an error while typing your password. Best thing is to try and log in again in a few minutes. And there is the LL historical standard snake oil solution for everything: Clear cashe. But I guess, that is only possible after you are able to log in again.
  7. I'll enjoy my freedom to do whatever comes to my mind, just like almost all the other 365 days a year. (It is fun being a pensionado)
  8. Come and get it. The eyesore stands right in my sight when I'm on my balcony. No charge as far as I'm concerned. Bring a crane. It is made by a now established artist BTW. This early work is not in his online catalogue though. So I guess he doesn't seem to find it a real masterpiece from him either. I must say he made far better than this eh.. thing I have to look at on a daily basis. The title of the work is "Rain Catcher." Which it does.
  9. When I worked in a small hamlet at a really tiny school for a few years, there lived a painter on the other side of the street who made mainly huge paintings, with human figures straight out of kindergarten. His works can be seen in a few museums, corporate buildings and at well established galleries. It made him enough income to have a very nice house for him and his family, with a huge workspace and a lovely garden. His main daily occupation was strolling through the neighborhood, work in his garden, talk with everybody who passed by. He invited me over once to his house and workspace, to show me his art. In the living room there where paintings from him showing his wife and two sons. The guy could really paint very realistic. I guess your professor was right, it takes skills to make stuff looking like it is made in kindergarten.
  10. There is not much going on on these forums since I've put every single one of you on my ban list.
  11. If it is art, it even can look like crap after it is finished. One can always come up with a deeper reason why it simply has to look that way. A fine example from where I live in RL: Someone got payed for that.
  12. Land and living has a lot of different possibilities. First there is mainland. Here one can buy a parcel of the size one needs. The parcel price varies enormously, because people value some properties more than others. After the purchase of land one pays a monthly maintenance fee. One needs to be a premium member. Buying land by Jeremy Linden. Then there is Bellisseria. There is a premium membership needed. Some of these memberships allow you to get one of the Bellisseria homes. They are sorted by themes. The houses are unfurnished, you get a LI allowance. One has to stay in theme. Some themes require a premium plus membership. Beside the house one gets a stipend and other perks. Premium memberschip - Bellisseria homes Private land. One can buy/rent land on private sims too. These sims are owned by other residents\land barons. You buy/lease the land directly from them. No premium account needed. The buying is mostly free or for a few L$. It gives you landowner rights. One has to pay rent. The land stays owned by the person\land baron you bought it from. There are a long standing trustworthy big names out there who have always a lot of land in stock. You can find them here on these forums in the land section, on the marketplace where they advertise. Never pay much rent upfront until you are certain that you are on the right spot. Linden Lab stays as always out of disputes between residents. Same goes with parcels rented on mainland from other residents\land barons. Good luck with the chase.
  13. For now I just wait and see. I can afford it to do so, SL is not my RL money supplier.
  14. The other day I noticed, that a few chairs in my living room (SL) were floating at least a few inches above the ground. It has been that way several months before I found out.
  15. I think that people who know how to do that are able to create from scratch themselves. Consumers want to have things, put it out and then after a few weeks onward to the new next best thing since sliced bread at the marketplace, the next sale or both.
  16. I'm totally unsure at the moment. Will I set myself to start studying PBR or simply call it a day and stop creating for SL in the near feature if people start to demand for PBR extra's for each and every object. So far I'm leaning towards that it is not worth the extra effort. How often do people really look that closely to their surroundings in SL? Time will tell, I guess.
  17. It is a trap, isn't it? We all look cartoonish in SL.
  18. I store my pictures on my PC and only occasionally post one here on the forums. And then there are the marketplace pictures of course posted on the marketplace.
  19. Did you try "Detach"? You write it moves with the camera. It might might be attached to a hud spot at your screen.
  20. So EvoX is about skins for mesh heads? Peeve: I was thinking to schedule an appointment to get a jab against EvoX one of these days.
  21. Some people would love it, if we had one of these on the forums:
  22. Why? Other forumites only have the same rights as you have. Simply don't care that others might have other opinions. At least that is what I do. It is not the end of the world if I don't win the Internet every time. Forums are made for information and discussion. Discussions are pretty boring if everybody is exactly on the same page all the time IMHO. And some are friendlier than others, just like in RL, because we are all people hidden behind the avatars. The only group that could harm you (by using the ban hammer on the forums or even in world) have the last name Linden or Mole. Most of them who are regularly on these forums are good people too BTW.
  23. "Voice verification" will be the answer to the next question I guess.
  24. I had a few short periods that I did not log in over the last 17 years, but it still is a great place to hang out. It is my number one leisure time experience. The trick is not to take SL all too seriously IMHO. That can be hard at times, because the place is a bit immersive and addictive at times. Now to stay on topic: Why is everything always implemented half finished in this place?
