  1. I totally agree with OP. I always wear XXS sized mesh, and sometimes find even XXS to be too large, and my breast size is 15-30 depending on the mesh outfit, but never over 30. I love Wasabi Pills hair, however all her "regular size" mesh hair are made to fit breast size 60-70, while the "boobs size" mesh hair are made to fit breast size 80+ (completely unrealistic). It would be nice to actually accomodate more realistic sizes once in a while. nikita Jefferson wrote: Well it's nice to see others who think as i do, i do not like mesh,it might have it's place for making monster type avys or cars and such, but i do not understand why everything has to go mesh. Whats the point, the clothes all look like they are from a RL dept. store catalogue, very conservative. (You must have not looked at any RL fashion magazines in the last decade or so. Do enlighten me on the style of most fashion magazines. Are models wearing pasties + a thong, or are they wearing actually artistically done and stylish outfits?) Regular tops fit skin tight and look sexy, mesh tops are loose. In my travels in SL for 6 years or so, i can say females in SL like to look sexy (ok, so you've seen every single avatar in SL, you must have logged on for 25 hours a day huh?), when we go to a club (yes I'm sure SL is 100% consisting of clubs and every female avatar's sole purpose in SL is to look like a **bleep**), the girls all dress in sexy clothes, not conservative dresses. I am a shop owner, i have my own line of clothing, and i will not be making any mesh (good for you. Have fun being left out and selling stuff that looks like they were made in the last decade. Oh and btw, no one cares, because there are only a million other great shops out there), i am also an affliate for a couple of clothing lines and it seems all designers are making now are mesh clothes now,i just do not understand the point of every thing going mesh (apparently you have never played a 3D video game before. Do enlighten me on a modern-looking video game that does not use rigged mesh for clothing models). If anything it will drive those of us who do not like mesh to seek out other non mesh worlds to cont. to sell our fashions (yes, I'm sure the people who refused to switch over to Windows 7 will never use a computer again. Just like the people who refused to leave viewer 1 left SL huh?) I have never worn mesh clothes and don't intend to, i also have the non mesh phoenix viewer, i find the mesh phoenix viewer to be a poor rezzer, so all i see when people wear mesh is silly block feet and things hanging off them (I lol'd at this. "I must be the best looking avatar in SL, since everyone else around me looks like boxhead due to my computer's inability to render modern graphics properly") I also make and sell skins and shapes, i am extremely particular how i look, i do not and will not change my shape to fit clothes as one has to do with mesh,as i said i do not understand this rush to mesh everything, the old non mesh clothes fit so much better (yes that's true, mesh isn't made to fit avatars with size 100 boobs and butts. Cloth layer stuff do fit better at the expense of having sweaters look paper thin and glued onto your skin. Then again I'm sure you don't care since a few paragraphs ago you said that all you wear are "sexy" clothing, and I imagine that to mean you wear underwear or two strips when outside) Reminds me of the people who were terrified of sculpties. "omgz SL has been invaded by irregularly shaped 3D objects!". Now the people who fail to get in with the times (ie ones still refusing to even use sculpties for their hair/clothes and stuck using cloth layer + flexi) have all sunk to the bottom.
  2. Shelby Silverspar wrote: Suki Hirano wrote: Unless your computer doesn't support seeing mesh (only computers I can think of are pre-2008 laptops or pre-this-century desktops), or you're one of those avatars with cow-sized butts and breasts, there are no advantages non-mesh has over mesh. Nice. So only those with cow-sized butts and breasts have any business NOT wearing mesh? How about- I don't want to look like everyone else? How about I haven't seen mesh fashions I like all that much yet? How about I'm waiting to see some diversity in the styles? How about any number of other reasons I may have to not purchase mesh items? Are my opinions just not valid since they differ from yours? You don't speak for everyone, Suki. How the hell was I responding to anything you wrote? O_o Are you the OP? No. Do you see a "reply to Shelby Silverspar" anywhere in my post? No. Why are you even bothering to respond to my OPINION, despite how hypocritical you sound when quoting my post. And lol at "haven't seen mesh fashions I like". That's like saying "I haven't watched TV in a while, that means TV must terribly suck so radio is better than TV". Personal experience means nothing. Just because you haven't seen any mesh you like doesn't mean cloth layer > mesh, that's only because you haven't shopped for the last few months or you've only shopped in stores where all they sell are Meli's kits. I can respond to that by saying I haven't seen any clothing layer clothes I like. You don't like mesh, I don't like clothing layer, deal with it. If you don't like any stuff that aoharu, dela, miel, baiastice, leezu, ison, etc etc, sells, and all of them are ORIGINAL mesh models, then sorry to say but you're probably not suited for SL fashion because A) the other 99% of the population fortunately loves those stores, and B) that's pretty much what standard SL fashion looks like. Unfortunately for you, mesh is where SL fashion is going because the fact is it's higher quality. So feel free to quit SL and find some other game to play if you have some clothing layer fetish.
  3. It's impossible to match skin color on SL body and any prim/sculpt/mesh. If you even change the lighting slightly it will go off. It's because the stupid lighting system SL has that decides to illuminate SL body completely different from everything else. No mesh feet/hands do not improve even the slightest. Those ads you see in the store of perfectly matched feet/hands are mostly photoshopped, or taken under extremely carefully toned lighting that you will probably never be able to achieve.
  4. It's what the ruth kit wears. Anyone who wears these is basically just attempting to look stupid and noobish on purpose.
  5. Utilizator and the other stores around the sim has everything you need. Mesh anime avatar > SL avatar with anime head. Unless you love seams and uneven shadows.
  6. All proper mesh has a demo. If it does not have a demo, then just assume it's sculpted and don't get it because how will you know it will fit? The only exception I found was the store HoC, that store never offers demos, but its stuff are just awesome that I always end up buying anyways.
  7. Unless your computer doesn't support seeing mesh (only computers I can think of are pre-2008 laptops or pre-this-century desktops), or you're one of those avatars with cow-sized butts and breasts, there are no advantages non-mesh has over mesh. Mesh has depth, much better texture resolution, and moves with the avatar. Mesh has come to a point that the 5 shapes it comes in are all shapes that are realistic and look good. All that argument about "adjusting your entire shape to fit the mesh" are bull, they're all started by people who are too afraid of change. The only adjustments you need to make are the breasts and butt, period, because the mesh alpha will cover everything else. Clothing layer looks absolutely terrible when zoomed in and is part of your skin, I'd love to see a RL sweater that is 0cm thin and sticks to your skin. Flexi just plain sucks for obvious reasons, while sculpt is only good for hair and other non-animated clothing such as shirt cuffs or something since it will clip just about anywhere else. If you really really want non-mesh for some reason then some stores I'd suggest: - Aoharu (some of the best casual clothing in SL) - Dela (same as above) - Grasp (best non-mesh urban style jackets) - Ison - The secret store - Leezu - Baiastice There are only like 3 stores worth visiting in FLF anyways, Wasabi Pills, Miel, and maybe erratic sometimes. The rest are all just fillers wanting to make a quick buck, with CERTAIN stores never even bother putting out an item (*cough*pivaaca*cough*). Wasabi Pills always have a hair so it doesn't matter if it's mesh or not, Miel's mesh dress is simply too awesome to pass, and I'm not sure what erratic usually offers.
  8. $3000L for a fullperm simple corset with no textures is NO. Go on renderosity, what simple corset is $12 USD? Not only that, SL "full perm" things do not come with the actual COL/OBJ model. All you get is a model with the creator's name on it. On Renderosity they actually sell you the files, WITH the textures and all the templates. It's essentially selling you all the ingredients of KFC instead of only selling you the chicken. Furthermore, SL kits can only be used in SL, while anything on Renderosity can be used for anywhere, including commercial games. With those reasons, no fullperm kit should be $3000 on SL. Since it only has 1/3 of the features of an actual 3D kit featured on professional websites, it should be 1/3 the price, ie, at most $3-5, or around 750-1000L.
  9. Good quality mesh: - Doesn't clip, some people obviously forget to test out their mesh model on an actual SL avatar, because it will clip under any possible SL shape - Doesn't give that cheap flimsy look - a sweater is not supposed to be paper thin, make it thicker and more realistic - Realistic wrinkles and shadows - Anything from Coldlogic - Anything from Aoharu - Anything from Dela - Anything from HoC (footwear) - Anything from Wasabi Pills (hair) - Anything from Miel Fan of those stores.
  10. I've went through several simple show/hide scripts (that listen for a chat command, not a fan of touch commands), but none of them work on a worn objects. They work perfectly on a rezzed object of reasonable distance though. So are worn objects treated differently by scripts or something? This is the script I found on some open source LSL website: //This is the command used to make the object show itself. You can change it to what ever you like. string sCommand = "show"; //This is the command used to make the obnject hide itself. You can change it to what ever you like. string hCommand = "hide"; //This is the channel which the object will listen to. It is set to channel 9 so to make it work you will say '/9' then the command. integer chan = 9; //this is the time that the object will display itself for before it automatically hides itself, it is set to 0 so you will se the box when you rez it. integer time = 0; //This script automatically turns the object to phantom, If you wish it to be solid then change this value to FALSE. integer switch = TRUE; //--------------------------------------------------------------------- default { state_entry() { llListen(chan,"",NULL_KEY,""); llSetStatus(STATUS_PHANTOM,switch); llSetTimerEvent(time); } listen(integer channel, string name, key id, string msg) { if (msg == sCommand) { llSetAlpha(1,ALL_SIDES); llSetTimerEvent(time); } if (msg == hCommand) { llSetAlpha(0,ALL_SIDES); } } timer() { llSetAlpha(0,ALL_SIDES); } on_rez(integer start_param) { llResetScript(); } } Does anyone know how to make it work on a WORN attachment (multi-prim of course)?
  11. Thank you! Yes it's that one. Wow it's unbelievably cheap, $250 vs $10000. And copy/mod too.
  12. My friend had this playable mini golf course that I really liked but forgot where it was from. It consisted of a bunch of wooden blocks with grass on top of it (just a flat prim with texture), a hole in each one, and an object that gave out golf clubs to anyone. Basically to play it you'd use directional keys to aim, then I believe mouse button to determine power of the strike. Anyone know where this is from? The only playable golf course I found on marketplace amidst all the crap when I keyworded "golf" was a full sim golf course rezzer. Not really looking for a full sim one, and that one is way too expensive at 10k.
  13. $300 USD monthly rent + $1200 USD one time price for a small plot of pixel land is the stupidest price I've ever heard.
  14. Woohoo, another ex-bdsm addict who got into some bad drama and now wants to ruin bdsm RP for everyone else.
  15. Yeah the review system is shady. You got: - Morons with cow-sized butts and boobs complaining mesh items won't fit their disfigured bodies - Creators who give a partial refund to any shills leaving a 5-star rating on their product - Creators who buy their own product and leave 5-star ratings - Garbage that's years old that was popular in the previous decade with high star ratings that are totally irrelevant now, but somehow still exist today - Inability to edit or even delete your own reviews Then again what review system isn't crappy? Even iTunes store review system is like this, tons and tons of shills mixed in with a tiny proportion of people with actual brains and writing skills. Hell even critics-only review systems like rottentomatoes have crappy reviewers who you wonder how in the world did they qualify to review anything.
  16. Those business-in-a-box have been there since the start of SL. It's a scheme for the rich to get richer and poor to get poorer. They don't pose a problem to average consumers. Just don't go anywhere near them. 99.999999% of those resellers sell absolute crap at ridiculous prices anyways. Why would successful stores need those **bleep**ty reseller vendors to start with? They won't affect most stores now because there's no way the crap those resellers sell can be better than the stuff stores offer these days.
  17. What ethnicity are you looking for? That kind of determines everything. Never buy shapes unless they're free and comes with mod permission. No mod shapes are just complete fail, and buying another's shape is pretty much looking how another would want you to look and paying for that. Besides static poses, shapes are about the easiest things to make in SL. It's not necessarily the quickest, but it's easy, as all it takes is subjective judgment. Also if you're looking for a mesh avatar then that's not modifiable, because from your first post it looks like you're looking for mesh stuff. The only 2 good mesh avatars out right now are Utilizator's AV2.0 and Yabusaka's. Pros of mesh avatar: - MUCH better looking hands and feet (it's scary to look at the default SL hand and feet) - More realistic shadows on body Cons of mesh avatar: - Cannot edit shape in any way - Must buy mesh clothing, and only ones that are designed for your mesh avatar (extremely limited selection). Fortunately however mesh avatar clothing are usually high quality - Only 2 mesh avatars out right now, and one of them (AV2.0) is only in beta phase, and the creator refuses to provide free updates, meaning people who bought AV2.0 must pay the full price for updates, what a @#$% For normal avatar skin if you're looking for a western skin try Tuli, cupcakes, or al vulo. I don't wear western style skins usually but when I do my favourite is al vulo. If you're looking for Asian skins then it gets more challenging since there are less stores and much more difficult to choose a look unless you're Asian to start with. But it's also much more rewarding since you don't end up look like the 95% of the SL population who uses a generic tan western from stores everyone knows.
  18. You could've started a new thread rather than necro-ing a 4-month old thread... Though yes firestorm is extremely glitchy. I have to use the de-ruth kit hourly, because very often an alpha, tattoo or clothing layer will not rez, avatar will randomly sink into ground with a messed up z-offset, or mesh will fail to rez.
  19. Yeah the stiff fingers glitch, happens all the time when animations conflict. Also if you're wearing n-core shoes all their stuff are known to cause this bug when attaching/detaching (no idea why as I'm pretty sure feet aren't supposed to affect hand poses), the owner acknowledged it when I contacted her but said isn't going to fix it (lol). The free anypose hud suggested is great, also just search "stiff finger" on marketplace and there is another hud (10L) that fixes as well.
  20. It's probably selection beam, really annoying noob-ish feature. It's in preferences -> advanced -> building, turn that to "off".
  21. I don't think you guys got my question. I know how to get rid of the shadows on my computer (facelight + local lights). I can get myself to look exactly the way I want (pale smooth skin no shadows anywhere). I'm asking for tips on getting my character to have less shadows on any settings, ie so other people will see less shadows on me as well. It could be tips on editing parts of the face shape so those creases are less visible, tips on any special attachments I haven't heard of that work without local lights, or misc tips like "always stand and face a certain direction" or something.
  22. I don't get what your question is? Anyways here are some golden rules I use and it's worked great for the 5 years I've been in SL: - Never buy any shapes, unless they're free AND has mod permission. Shapes are just a bunch of numbers, no I ain't going to pay someone trying to make a quick buck $500 for a bunch of numbers that I might not even like. The main reason is if you can't even make your own shape, it means you lack the patience or ability (patience more likely) to look good in SL, so why bother? A good shape is supposed to take days to make, and takes barely any talent to create because it's 99.99% subjective perception. SL is all about looking unique, if you just go and buy some shape then it's essentially the same as looking the way another person want you to look, which is absurd. As for no mod shapes they are just complete fail. Shapes without demos are even more complete fails. Yes we all have some kind of telepathic ability to project the shape onto our own avatars and see what it looks like - Never buy any static poses, unless they're really cheap like 0-20L. Reason? Because all the static poses you'll ever need are free. Unless you haven't went shopping or read any SL blogs in years, you'll know how many stores offer free static poses. Static poses are ridiculously easy to make, and are only worth the 10L upload fee they have, because it literally takes 1-2 minutes to make a static poses from scratch, maybe less. Spend half an hour watching QAvimator tutorial on youtube and you can start making your own static poses. Have you noticed how all the stores selling static poses make their ad look really good? Beautiful backgrounds, awesome windlight settings, etc etc. That's because they actually spent more time photoshopping the ad than making the poses themselves, hoping to get people to think "omg what a beautiful ad, I must get this". I've seen some stores selling a single static pose for 250L, and I just had to laugh at what kind of sucker would pay that much for an item the creator probably spent 1-2 minutes working on - Get all the demos you want from the store, try them all out first, delete the ones you don't like, and then go buy the ones you like. Do not "buy as you try". Why? Because stores are known to place very similar clothing very far apart from each other hoping you'd buy duplicates
  23. The trans permission is just a proof of SL's fail of a permissions system. In an effective permissions system there would be no such thing as a "trans" permission, because everything would be trans. It will ask you to select one copy of the item to send to another and wipe out all other copies in your inventory. This way you can feel free to make a million copies for backup editing, and also give item to another. However since our permissions system fails, I prefer copy/mod/no trans, because any competent store has a gift system. Giving a used item to a friend is nowhere near as important as making backup copies in case you or SL goofs, and/or the store owner is too much of an **bleep** to redeliver (like the ones who never respond to IMs/notecards, won't list any names here).
  24. Is it allowed in SL to save pictures from google image search, upload it to SL and sell it, even though you're not the creator of that image? Because I've seen a lot of marketplace people simply selling a flat prim with an image pasted on it, the so-called "galleries". It's kind of pathetic the things people would do to make a quick buck these days. One of the stores I saw on marketplace patiently ripped almost 500 images from google then individually uploaded them, made individual ads, and individually sells them for 10L each, lol.
  25. The de-ruth kit always works for me, I use it on a DAILY basis (yes my avatar gets stuck as a cloud/textures fail to load on a daily basis). It's the one that says "right click replace outfit" then turns you into the outright ugliest thing to exist in a virtual world. You might not be using the right kit or something, I know lots of ruth kits exist, and some of them don't work. I'm fairly positive that the following things does absolutely nothing to fix ruthed/clouded avatars: - Character test - Rebake textures - Force textures reload (on another avatar), but this does work sometimes for objects Because I've been on SL for 5 years and these have not ONCE did anything whatsoever. So now I just use these 2 methods: - Deruth kit, works 99% of the time. MAKE SURE you click "replace outfit" AT LEAST 3 TIMES, if you only click it once often it will not work since not everything is replaced. When switching back to your normal outfit, do NOT use "replace outfit", instead manually wear each item - Clear cache + relog, works randomly
