  1. I have a skin that has a hairbase painted into the skin itself, is it possible to use some kind of coverup to remove this, a tattoo or something? Or is this impossible?
  2. Reply from elika told me to log into official viewer wearing that hair, then log back into firestorm and that should fix it. There's no known cause of it though.

Only 4000... that's tiny even to LL standard. Start worrying when you get to like 100k, which is the inventory size of most of my friends including me.
  4. I'm having a weird problem with some rigged mesh hair. It's not the common problem if it not rezzing completely with the yellow triangles. It does rez completely, however certain parts of the hair has jagged edges, similar to if I set the object LOD to minimum and sculpties/mesh would appear that way. Another weird thing is if I rez the hair on the ground, it would load perfectly fine - the jagged edges only happen if I wear it. Rezzed on ground (appears fine): Example 1: http://i.imgur.com/y9N0U.png Example 2: http://i.imgur.com/0tb8r.png Worn: Example 1: http://i.imgur.com/ady2H.jpg Example 2: http://i.imgur.com/xEYKd.png My object LOD is set at max, meshmaxconcurrentrequests is set at 128. Relogging doesn't fix it. Thanks for your help.
  5. Theresa Tennyson wrote: Also, Asian skin makers tend to use lighter skin tones than Western ones - most of the skins themselves don't look stereotypically "Asian." Look at Pink Fuel (best value for skins in Second Life in my opinion), Heaven's Gate (her "retail" skins tend to be more detailed than the free ones, which are quite nice for what they are as well) and you might consider Sakurako. (A bit dated and overpriced and now available only in world but her faces are lovely.) General advice: Don't worry about makeup because that can always be added with tattoos and give you much more flexibility, and don't pay too much attention to the promotional pictures - they're taken with very specialized, flattering lighting and in some cases (as I look at the skin you're using as your example and cough loudly) are heavily retouched. Always get a demo and look at it on your own shape, and don't automatically assume that a skinmaker's shape will be better - they're tuned to look good for close-up face shots and many of them don't hold up in real-fake-world situations. There are some skinmaker's shapes that I'd only wear to scare children on Halloween. +1 Pretty much exactly what I was going to say. Most of the Asian skins have been "westernized". They are basically western facial features but a paler skin. The link that the OP provided is extremely heavily retouched, it actually looks more like a combination of RL and SL photo. There is no way you can actually look like that in-world. Check out collabor88. Though the problem with Illusory is that they have just a single look/template. Every single skin from that store is just a different makeup. Get 1-2 88L Illusory skins from collab, the full-price ones from the store are completely not worth getting since you're paying 1000L for just a slight makeup difference.
  6. Thanks for the replies. I'll remove the boots, since I think what Amethyst said is correct. Honestly I didn't know you can't even use the texture it came with, that's pretty limiting for a kit item, and I guess justifies for Meli's low prices? Though it's not like it's preventing tons of people from doing it anyways.I'm not really a serious designer and don't spend all my time designing, thus I don't create lots and none of them are really high quality, just trying to make a few bucks to cover shopping needs. It's kind of funny how many products I see on marketplace are simple recolors like mine, yet no one complains about them? I mean I've seen products where absolutely no changes were made from Meli's kit sold for maybe hundreds of L, yet here I am being taken that seriously for making "not enough changes" to the texture and even spent the time to write a LL complaint, for a product that's only 50L, lol. Which one would consumers like better? The merchant who knows that the product is not worth much to start with and thus prices it very low, or the merchant who tries to sell a kit item for a high price and hopes the customer doesn't notice it's from a kit? I think it should be made a rule that kit items be required to put a link to the kit on the description page, so the customer can compare original vs modified.
  7. I was wondering if marketplace reviews are deletable by the merchant? Because I just noticed mine from yesterday was deleted... or did the merchant bribe LL to get them to remove all the "non-favourable" reviews lol.
  8. So I bought a pair of boots from a kit, then RETEXTURED it (ie not a simple recolor from color tab obviously) in Photoshop. I admit it's not a fancy retexture, but since the kit does not offer a white color, I provided a white texture. 95% of the mesh stuff on marketplace are like this, simple retextures. Yet some complete @#%@# flagged my product then filed a complaint to LL that I was "reselling a kit item without ANY changes", the reason is I gave a 1-star review to one of her products. Should I unlist the product, or even care about the complaint? Technically I see absolutely no reason why I can't sell this, but then again I can't really feel safe in case LL is color blind and decide that my product is the exact same color as the kit.

Not looking for anything fancy, don't even need page flip anims. Just click to cycle through images, so I'm not willing to pay something like 695 for a simple image gallery script. Lots of more complex scripts are free so there must be an open-source image gallery script somewhere?
  10. Looking for a robe or boa (preferably robe, like a fancy empress robe or something) that drapes down to the arm like this: http://www.daydreamersfancydress.co.uk/acatalog/deluxe-feather-boas-2738-fancy-dress.html Sort of like it slid down the shoulders. Needs to be mesh obviously, since sculpty can't bend with arm movement.

  12. My skin's from Jomo. Already contacted the owner a month ago and just got a reply back yesterday. Absolutely terrible attitude, not only did it take him a month to reply, but the only thing he said was "you're a weirdo for wanting lighter color eyebrows". What, the, f... That's the last thing I buy from that store.
  13. Welcome to SL, where you can sell an empty prim for $5k claiming it's a fully furnished skybox and completely get away with it. The worst that will happen (and it pretty much never happens ) is they ban your account, then you just create a new one and start scamming some more. As for copying/cloning, that's really secondary as pretty much nothing in SL is original anyways.
  14. Some merchants abuse hunts/sale groups for traffic. For example, I have not been to a single Fifty Linden Friday trip without at least one store not bother putting out an item for FLF, with some stores never putting out an item (no idea wtf the organizers are doing since they don't even verify the stores before putting them on the list). They join the hunt list simply to grab customers but are too greedy to mark any item for sale or give it away for free in a hunt.
  15. Those are very nice. If you also do other styles (cute and bright instead of the eerie goth styles) I'd love to pay you to photoshop my photo as well.
  16. Yeah SL items have very high prices when compared to RL 3D model shops (think renderosity). People are also paranoid about perms which is funny because everything on RL 3D shops are all completely full perm and can be used anywhere, while SL stuff can only be used in SL. Land prices are completely f'ed up. $1000USD + $295/month for a tiny piece of pixel land? Yes I'd really love to pay the same cost into pixel land than a small apartment. Though nothing's gonna change. Land prices certainly won't go down since LL are rational profit-maximizing people, so are creators.
  17. I'll never get why anyone would spend L$700-1000 on a pair of single color no mod mesh thigh boots when they can get the exact same boots in a fatpack with copy/mod perms for only $200. Brand loyalty? Ignorance? Too much money to spend?
  18. HoC - high quality, ridiculously cheap prices, good customer service but rarely logs on Aoharu - high quality, slightly expensive prices, good customer service Maitreya - high quality, ridiculously expensive prices Gos - high quality, moderately expensive prices N-core - high quality, ridiculously expensive prices, sh*t customer service Your pick.
  19. There is nowhere near enough kid avatars on SL to justify for creators spending the effort modifying their model. Either get a mesh teen avatar from utilizator or just wear layer clothing.
  20. Is it possible to change eyebrow color, or is this always part of the skin? In appearance mode there is a "color" option for the hairbase, I'm guessing that only changes the hair part and not eyebrow color? Tattoos doesn't work because they never match the eyebrow style
  21. I found this opensource script on another website that provides a simple menu for picking several pre-assigned colors and made a few changes: // when touched, present a dialog with four color choices integer CHANNEL = 42; // dialog channel list MENU_MAIN = ["pink", "tiger", "orange", "green", "purple", "blue", "darkblue", "teal", "...more colors"]; // the main menu list MENU_OPTIONS = []; // a submenu default { state_entry() { llListen(CHANNEL, "", NULL_KEY, ""); // listen for dialog answers (from multiple users) } touch_start(integer total_number) { llDialog(llDetectedKey(0), "What color to dye?", MENU_MAIN, CHANNEL); // present dialog on click } listen(integer channel, string name, key id, string message) { if (llListFindList(MENU_MAIN + MENU_OPTIONS, [message]) != -1) // verify dialog choice { llSay(0, name + " picked the option '" + message + "'."); // output the answer if (message == "...more colors") llDialog(id, "Pick a color!", MENU_OPTIONS, CHANNEL); // present submenu on request else if (message == "...Back") llDialog(id, "What do you want to do?", MENU_MAIN, CHANNEL); // present main menu on request to go back // here you have the name and key of the user and can easily verify if they have the permission to use that option or not else if (message == "pink") llSetColor(<227,158,155>, ALL_SIDES); else if (message == "tiger") llSetColor(<108,82,57>, ALL_SIDES); else if (message == "orange") llSetColor(<195,170,116>, ALL_SIDES); else if (message == "green") llSetColor(<0,125,0>, ALL_SIDES); else if (message == "purple") llSetColor(<127,0,127>, ALL_SIDES); else if (message == "blue") llSetColor(<0,0,255>, ALL_SIDES); else if (message == "darkblue") llSetColor(<0,0,127>, ALL_SIDES); else if (message == "teal") llSetColor(<0,127,127>, ALL_SIDES); } else llSay(0, name + " picked invalid option '" + llToLower(message) + "'."); // not a valid dialog choice } } But it doesn't seem to work. It does say "Suki picked the option red!" in chat, but it doesn't actually change the color. Also if I pick "pink" "tiger" or "orange" it would say "picked invalid option" (the last line of code), not sure why these are not registering as color choices?
  22. GPU crasher? Just one of those things that renders a ton of crap to choke your hardware?
  23. If you have a source of income in SL then there's no point getting premium. Then again 300L a week can hardly afford anything, you're better off just spending that $20 or whatever they charge buying lindens.
