I'm wondering why clothing designers underestimate the potential of that niche and make the same robes/miniskirts/underwear all over again and hope for success on a crowded market. Because no one actually makes stuff out of enjoyment, it's all for the $$. People are willing to spend the rest of their lives buying the same top and same bottoms, then people are gonna spend 20-minutes or so making them and sitting on the sofas as the cash rolls in. It's even easier now since practically everything is made from a kit now, even the boutiques and bigbox stores use kits. How many quality qipaos or togas are made? I can probably count them with one hand's fingers.

There's nothing wrong with people's view, there's something wrong with your comment. :smileyindifferent: Tanned oiled supermodels with huge boobs and butts? No thank you, gross + ugly. Cuteness + less pronunced female bodyparts? Yes.
  3. Lol I think most guys have no clue how to make their shape, that's why they're fugly. The tiny tiny head, huge huge chest, tiny tiny waist, huge huge hands/feet, and bald or long hair is absolutely grotesque, makes them look like an escaped criminal who had nothing to eat but steel nails and eggs for the last decade. As for clothing it's really a secondary thing when they can't even get their shapes right. So yeah proper skin/shapes are helpful. For men's hair, I like Find A.S.H. and some Wasabi Pills hair.
  4. Try Elikatira and Yuna, two of my favourite stores. If you want to try Truth go ahead but don't expect any customer service (including transactions, lost items, etc). The guy doesn't answer any method of communication at least in the 4 months I've tried to contact him.
  5. +1 for HoC House of Curio (HoC) = best quality-price ratio shoe store on SL, no competition. All her shoes are under 200L and everything comes in fatpacks (like 10 textures), and 95% of the shoe qualities are better than stores like n-core, pixel mode and purrfect-10. Her mesh thigh boots are an absolute steal, consider hers are only 195L for SIXTEEN TEXTURES while other places sell them for 900L PER TEXTURE. Very nice creator too, I've chatted with her on multiple occasions.
  6. Yes a furry model will hurt your sales, because the furry population + people who don't mind furry is less than the population of anti-furry people + people who don't care about furries and might think that dress is only for furries. It's just the way it is, people's preferences, similar to the fact that 90% of the stuff in SL is geared towards western fashion and maybe 10% or less is more Asian fashion. Your ad isn't very appealing, due to the gown looking very outdated like it was from 2007 or something. Rarely anyone uses only flexi now, people need to learn to use sculpts/mesh in order to make stuff look realistic and good, then learn lighting to make the ad look appealing.
  7. Exaggeratingly happy = idiot/noob Exaggeratingly unhappy = cold/trendy It's all opinion. That picture you took is of a friend of mine. Some people, specifically people in the west (US, Canada, Europe, etc), might think that look is "skinny", I think that's normal because I'm Asian. We have a very different outlook in fashion than westerners. I think most models featured in ads are way too tan and chubby, with huge breasts and butt, and you might think we're too pale. Anyway why do you care about this sad lip trend? I don't like it that much either as it's a very shallow taste but I don't care either as I don't use it myself. At least it looks better than those noobs with huge smiles and huge eyes.
  8. I know invisiprims are obsolete, but that's not part of the problem I'm having. The invisiprim is at the back, it won't cause the shoe to be displayed like the second picture.
  9. Don't know if it's just a problem with Firestorm, but I'm experiencing an odd problem with shoe shapes and/or invisiprims. This heels I'm wearing uses both an alpha and invisiprims, the alpha deletes the bottom part of the feet, while a small invisiprim at the back of the heels hides the sole of the feet. This is what I see on my screen: This is what my friend sees: We're both running latest version of Firestorm, both using Windows 7 64bit, and I'm wearing the exact same heels in both pictures obviously. Only difference is she has all graphics set to max, while I have most graphics set to low, she has local lighting turned off while I have local lighting turned on. Does anyone know what's causing this?
  10. I bought a mesh kit from marketplace. Since mesh doesn't use maps anymore, does that mean there's no way to create my own mesh model? The only thing I'm able to edit is the texture? So if I want to sell my creation, wouldn't the creator name still be the maker of the kit?
  11. Thanks for your replies. Damn the quiz page is still down. >_> Edit: wow unbelievable, the entire beta grid website is down. Guaranteed "problem loading page" or "an error occurred" on every link lol.
  12. Seems beta grid is down or something, leads to a "an error occurred, please check server log" when I click on the quiz for beta servers, but no idea what this "server log" is as the SL status page doesn't mention anything about beta grids. It says that on the beta grid avatars start with 50k L, and I assume all costs are the same on that grid. So what happens if L runs out on the beta grid? Any way to refill it?
  13. Zak Kozlov wrote: There is no way to upload mesh temporary even uploading textures on Pheonix temporary is no longer possible due to a change in TOS ( you can still use local texturing tab ) To test your creation without spending 1 gazillion you can log in Second Life Beta Grid ( infos: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Preview_Grid ) Upload still cost something but you have unlimited amount of $L there. Take a look at the wiki for how to log and other infos So uploading to beta grid is essentially the same? I mean I don't really care if it's temporary or not, as long as there's no cost, since I want to see it worn on my avatar and determine if it actually works before paying to upload it.
  14. Phoenix had a temporary upload option for textures so we don't end up wasting tons of L for textures that don't work. Now I'm using Firestorm, is there an option for temporary uploads of mesh? The cost for uploading mesh is much larger than textures, don't want to spend thousands uploading stuff that will never work.
  15. I went through some old creations I did and wanted to convert them to dae to upload to SL via Meshlab. I imported the .obj file into Meshlab, which displays fine, then I clicked "export as", then chose "collada .dae", which exported fine as well. But when I try to upload the model to SL it says "error: material of model is not a subset of model" at the bottom left, there is no preview picture, and there is a "missing required level of detail". Does anyone know what these errors mean? Some specific settings I need to set in meshlab to export?
  16. Does anyone know why on the secondlife website it displays as I have "no payment info on file", but inworld it says "payment info on file"? I'm not sure when the website started displaying that, because I provided payment info like 2 years ago. o.o This is kinda annoying because it's preventing me from uploading mesh. >.> Yeah I know I should submit a ticket for this but I kinda want an answer in a few hours not a few weeks lol. So if anyone is familiar with this situation thanks for your help.
  17. The OP's question is pretty much equivalent to "how do I make lots of money without doing anything or going to the lottery?" :matte-motes-stress:
  18. I'm looking for which sculpt kit these two boots came from: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/High-Heel-Platform-Shoes-w-Warmers-WHITE/3070429 https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Ruffled-Heart-Leg-Warmer-Mary-Janes-3-versions-WHITE/3363346 I'm pretty sure these are from kits but I can't remember the name now. If no one can find the kits they came from, other boots like these ones would be great, except it has to be copy/mod. Hate no mod perms especially on stuff that came from a kit. Thank you.
  19. Thanks for suggestion. First one looks great, however it comes with no permissions, despite the fact it's from a fullperm sculpt kit. Usually don't buy stuff with no mod permission, especially something from a kit. Regular resizer sucks at fitting.
  20. Pros: - Finally realistic clothing with DEPTH. Only a few creators are able to make realistic sculpted clothing, but these still clip. From 8+ years behind current graphics SL is now only around 4-5 years behind, woohoo - Support for more creation programs. Creating sculpties was a pain because not many programs supported downgrading mesh into sculpty Cons: - SL now has graphics requirements that rival Crysis 2, maybe even higher requirements. Forget about even using it if you don't have a gaming computer - No object inspection, why the hell did SL leave this out - Unable to edit in any way. But usually mesh is supposed to be uneditable
  21. I'm looking for a pair of high quality boots/hooves like this: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/TEN10-Megas-boots-black/3165269, except sculpted instead of mesh. I prefer some kind of cloth covering/wrap over the top of the boots/hooves, sort of like a pants flare. It can be overknee or not but at least knee length, boots/feet/hooves doesn't matter. I'm not looking for pure fantasy hooves (like the ones that bend backwards), already have a dozen of those. Thanks.
  22. The new policy is the epitome of stupidity. No other way to put it. Showing online status is a "violation of privacy"? Is this like Nazi Germany or something? Who actually get offended if someone can see if they're online? Did people at LL forget that we can check their online status by simply IMing them or checking their status in group profile? Showing what viewer we use is a "violation of privacy"? LOL. I find this funny because it was one of the ways to catch copybots since they used a different viewer. Someone tell the police, some guy is stalking my viewer status. If anyone thinks their privacy is "violated" just because someone knows you're using Phoenix, then you should go and play Adventure Quest or something... And lastly, the grand epitome of stupidity: "You must not provide any feature that alters the shared experience of the virtual world in any way not provided by or accessible to users of the latest released Linden Lab viewer". Translation -> "You're banned from doing anything better than us because that'll make us, the bosses, feel dumb. Therefore you're only allowed to act like you're dumber than us and follow our instructions so we feel better about our insecurities". TPV > LL viewer, fact. This essentially means that there is no point to TPVs at all from this point on. LL won't allow any additional features, so what the hell is the point of even allowing TPVs then? TPV devs have to give LL all their ideas and let LL take all the credit for their innovaction? Why not just make a Nazi SL law banning all TPVs altogether instead of phrasing it like "you only allowed to use clones of our official viewers"? SL version of Dilbert anyone? Sounds like something that PHB would say.
  23. To put it short, because they're paranoid/stupid. Do people honestly think putting a few demo textures will prevent people from copybotting? Textures contains no scripts, and even scripts can't prevent copybot effectively. It is beyond easy to buy/steal a few hair textures and simply replace those annoying demo textures. It is 99% nuisance for the customer and 1% nuisance for the copybotter. Another annoying thing is when designers put excessive demo prims, some even lock the demo items in weird poses so you can't even walk around when wearing the demo. These "protective/paranoid" measures to make sure they pixels aren't stolen are completely useless and only turns lots of customers off from buying the product. Simple and effective ways of putting demo signs. For prim-type accessories (hair, clothing, boots, etc): - Simple demo box over the head or transparent demo box with "demo" written on it that encases the object For skins: - A strip that says "demo" on each cheek or one strip over the forehead, and one strip above the chest, no need to cover the entire body in demo signs because how the heck are we supposed to see the texture on the skin? Anyways as for the stubborn creators who sells no trans products and refuses to provide a demo (it takes like a minute to attach a demo sign to a product), I hope you're all happy losing customers. Not going to name any names here but I've experienced cases where stuff that should definitely have demos (hair, shoes) didn't have one, I politely asked for one, and got a rude reply back that hints I'm stupid for asking a demo.
  24. These are the only few places that sell clothing that managed to impress me with the quality of their items and looks like something created in 2012 and not 2006: - Aoharu - Dela - Grasp (jackets) - Coco - Azul - Zenith - Graves (latex/sci-fi) - Violent Seduction (fantasy/gothic) This list is for "luxury" clothes. If you're looking for t-shirts or one-color dresses then this list is not for you. There are more but the other ones are hair/AO/accessories/skins.
  25. 95% of women in SL have tanned skin. I found that very weird. Aren't most people in SL the American/European crowd? Don't white people have like, you know, paler skins? I can count with my fingers how many of my friends or people I see that are Caucasian wear paler skins, pretty much nonexistent. I'm Asian myself, so I don't get what's with this "the darker the tanner it is the more sexy". It's like everyone I see is overburnt at the beach. Anyways my opinion only, so don't take as an offence: Tween/Huge lips+tiny slit eyes+heavy makeup = weird looking Tan skin+oil+heavy makeup+large assets/"sexy" = even uglier I'd rather see more tweens than more of those godawful huge boobed (at least get the damn sculpted boobs, default SL boobs look fugly over size 70) huge assed oiled heavy makeuped people.
