  1. You might have been suspected of copybotting. Copybots with sometimes go to sims and stand (or sit) around for a LONG time. People doing this innocently might look suspect and be banned. It's also possible they were irritate because you were taking up space and/or using sim resources while not contributing in any way to the sim atmosphere. When you are banned from a location, you don't get back there. You're banned. You can send a very polite message to the owner/manager and explain what happened, asking nicely to be allowed back. They might listen. They might not. How long depends on them - they might have a permanent ban list or a temporary one or both, and you might be on either. They're under no obligation to unban you, or provide a time limit for which you will be banned. Find somewhere else to hang out, and try not to repeat this mistake!
  2. No. You can add a display name, but not everyone will see it - some people have them disabled in their viewers and will only see your username. Usernames can't be changed. If you don't have much invested in this account, you can abandon it and create a new one with a name you like better. Otherwise, a display name is as good as you're going to get.
  3. It's not explicitly against the rules, but it's not very nice, either. While it isn't against the rules, you could be banned from the marketplace store if/when the owner notices. Demos are demos because they're not meant for permanent use. They're just to see if you like something. If you're getting the demo over and over so you can use it for an extended period of time, obviously you like it. If you can afford it, buy it. If you can't, move on. There are nice, free items that you can use ethically. You wouldn't be banned from SL or anything for doing it, but you might earn a few names you may not appreciate.
  4. Not really. You can make them very small, but you can't get rid of them, as far as I know. Is this what you tried? If your skin has Omega appliers, you can use them to get a near-perfect skin match, but it'll still be an attachment. You might try changing your hair into one that hides your ears. If you make your ears very small, this may work with many different hair styles. Otherwise, as far as I'm aware, those are really the only options.
  5. You really should have read ALL of the information before you signed up. A) The $1000L bonus is after 45 consecutive days of membership. That means you must be billed for two months (if you're on the monthly plan) before you receive the bonus. You will start receiving a $250L bonus every Tuesday, though. If it doesn't start this week - since you joined on a Tuesday, it may take more time - you'll definitely start getting it next week. B) You have to claim your house. There should be somewhere on your dashboard that you can do this, or try this link , which I found by googling "claim Linden home." You'll be given a few options of appearance for your home. Pick one and should get a teleport link. Once you've used it and teleported to your home, Go to World -> Set home to here to save that location so you don't lose it! Once you've done so, you can click "teleport home" to go straight there. 37 minutes? Really? Take a breath, get a coffee, and chill out. These things don't happen instantaneously, and may even require a little effort on your part! If you haven't received your stipend within a few DAYS - say by Friday, perhaps - call billing and ask about it. If you don't receive your $1000L bonus within, say, 50 days - giving a few days for processing - call billing and ask about it. Until then, don't worry about it.
  6. My guess - and this is a COMPLETE guess, no insider information here! - is that there's a somewhat higher percentage chance that resets each play. Say, for instance, 10% chance to win a rare EACH PLAY, unaffected by the number of plays on that machine. Otherwise, a) you're right, the chance of winning a rare would be ridiculously small, and/or b) there would be an unfair chancce of someone else swooping in and snagging a rare after you've been playing the machine. A flat chance reset each play seems most reasonable.
  7. Exile is the one that comes to mind - probably because I was there recently, so I saw their male hair while shopping for female. Argrace also has some nice male styles. Wasabi Pills tends more towards medieval/fantasy, but they have some attractive options as well. Ayashi might be worth a look; don't be put off by the effeminate/anime style models for many of their items. Even Truth has some great options for men's hair! There's also Catwa, along with dozens of others I don't know because I don't shop for men's hair. All of the stores I've mentioned also have female hair, so I do have experience with their products and quality, which is why I've mentioned them. I wouldn't put any one above the others, and I have little doubt that there other places out there that are as good, if not better. One thing to remember is that you don't necessarily need to limit yourself to male styles. Some female styles may actually work just fine. Some are very feminine and may not look quite right on a male avatar, but some can actually go both ways.
  8. "VERY [active]...a few hours each day" would have put me off immediately. That's a lot of time to dedicate PER DAY to SL. Some people have it, but a lot of people don't. Maybe relax your requirements a bit? You also seem to be getting very emotional and frustrated by this, which MAY be coming off as needy and therefore be offputting, so you may try the earlier advice of backing off a bit and simply exploring SL. Find some fun things to do and perhaps you'll meet someone while you're at it! "I try SO hard..." Maybe that's part of your problem. You're trying TOO hard. calm down, back off, take a few deep breaths, place some inworld ads, and while you wait, just have fun! For what it's worth, I'm sorry you're having so many issues, and I hope something clicks soon.
  9. Alwin is mostly right. You can't wear ANY system layers- they paint themselves directly onto the system body, which is hidden by your mesh body and the alpha you're wearing with it. They're probably loading just fine, you just can't see them - and you're not supposed to. You need mesh clothing, but it DOESN'T have to be designed for your mesh body. It will fit better if it is, but you may be able to wear some standard mesh by using the alpha HUD that should have come with your body. However, mesh clothing that is made for your particular mesh body probably will look nicer, in the long run. Especially if you have a "unique" body, such as one that's made to be especially curvy. You can also use applier-based clothing. Applier based clothing is similar to system layers - it paints directly onto your avatar. However, using an applier will paint that clothing onto your mesh body instead of your system body. You can do this two ways. You either need an applier made specifically for your body, OR, if your body works with the Omega system, you can use an Omega applier and the appropriate Omega relay, which you can find inworld or on the marketplace.
  10. They work like any other object in SL - you add them to your avatar. Most of the time there are many objects in the folder they come in; there should be a notecard in that folder, as well, telling you what you need to add along with the head object itself (alpha, eyes, teeth, etc., usually all included). Most come with a skin of some sort, but many skin creators sell appliers so your head can match your body. Most work with regular mesh (and prim) hair, no need for anything special. The basics are the same as a mesh body, but with more parts; and you can buy things from other vendors to customize, if you like. Personally, I still don't think mesh heads are customizable enough and don't wear one myself, but some people swear by them, so it's really your choice. They can take a while to get the hang of, but so does most of the rest of SL. I'm sure you can look on youtube for tutorial videos for your head of choice.
  11. Are you absolutely certain you sent the money to your friend? If you did so by clicking on her avatar and viewing her profile, you may have chosen the wrong avatar by mistake. If you did so by using search to find her profile, are you sure you typed her avatar name - NOT her display name - correctly? It's psossible you accidentally sent the money to someone with a user name similar to her display name (if she uses one) or with a similar avatar name. Check your transaction history (Dashboard - Account - L$ Transaction History). Expand the dates to include the one you sent her the money on, and see if it did, indeed, go to her user name, or if you sent it to someone else by mistake. If you sent it to someone else, you're out of luck - the best you can do is contact that person and ask nicely for them to return the money. If you DID send it to her, and she's sure she never got it (she can check her account history too, to double check), try submitting a ticket or, since it's a money issue, you could try calling billing, although they may just tell you to submit a ticket. 12. Does this happen with every outfit? If you were wearing this outfit, then changed clothes, but DIDN'T switch outfits, you're technically already wearing that original outfit, even though you may have changed every piece and look nothing like you did when you saved the outfit! Try replacing with a different outfit and see if that works. Other than that, I have no advice...
  13. I searched the marketplace for "Maitreya," then narrowed to women's sneakers, and got 6 results in the first 10 pages. However, none of them are for flat feet, as the picture appears to show. I definitely suggest you try the demo first, then try the demos of any others that look interesting.
  14. There's nothing you can do, sad to say. More alpha cuts in the chest is the only way to fix it. You can techically wear classic mesh clothing, but classic mesh is fitted to the classic avatar, so it may or may not fit your mesh body. TMP, for instance, is not really aligned with the standard avatar skeleton, so clothing not made for it CAN be worn, but doesn't sit right. (Shirts float above the shoulders, etc.) Your other option is wear applier clothing, or to combine applier clothing with mesh clothing, such as wearing an applier top with mesh jeans.
  15. It looks like it should have come with: A husky head Ears (possibly attached to the head, I can't tell from the picture) Eyes (again, possibly a part of the head, possibly separate from it. A tail Legs, from knee to paw A purple and white skin The item may be boxed. It shouldn't be, according to the listing, though. It should have been delivered to you in a folder. That folder should have included several items, and a skin layer, and probably an alpha layer or two. If you can make a copy of the item you did recieve, do so, then try rezzing the copy and seeing if it can be unboxed. If it can't be unboxed/there's nothing useful in it, look at the profile of the person who sold it to you - it's on the right side of that marketplace link, right above where it says "Use it now" in green letters. DON'T message him without reading his profile; he may have a specific customer service rep you should contact, or other ways of getting into contact with him, so check his profile for instructions. You can also search for a support group for that store inworld, and ask a question there. Other, more experienced users may be able to help.
  16. No, it wasn't. Most likely, it was user error. There are three major ways people gain access to your account, and all three are a combination of mean people doing mean things, and a too-trusting player. 1) You followed a link that asked for your login information, and you gave it. Don't. IF you choose to follow a link, make absolutely sure the website you wind up at is legit before you input your account information. The official SL website is secondlife.com. The official marketplace website is marketplace.secondlife.com. 2) You shared your login information with someone you trusted, and they accessed your account without permission. Don't share your login information. It's against the ToS, for one; and if you do, LL will not help you. 3) You rezzed an object inworld that asked permission to debit your account, and you gave it. Don't accept objects from people you don't know, and don't give permission for objects to debit your account. In short, SL is as safe as you make it. To find out where your money has gone, go to your dashboard > Account > L$ Transaction History. Adjust the starting date to a couple of days ago, and see where your money went. (Do that AFTER following the excellent advice you've been given already. If possible, also change the email associated with your account, as well as the password.)
  17. Did you read the comments? Someone asked the photographer, who responded that the dress is from ARISARIS. ETA: I'm feeling friendly - here's a marketplace link to the exact dress. If you'd rather navigate there yourself, all I did was search for ARISARIS in the marketplace, click the store name of the first item that popped up, and bam. First page. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Limited-QuantitiesArisArisGara42EnticementDress-Shoes/9225978
  18. Appliers will not change the expression, although subtle details such as eyebrows or the way the mouth is textured may give a slightly different "attitude" to the overall look. An applier is still just an applier, though, and won't affect the overall expression. You'll need a skin applier, as well as make-up appliers. If I recall correctly, CatWa supports both; but I may be wrong about that. Some skin appliers may include make-up, others won't, or you may want more variety. To make the head match the body, though, you'll need a skin that sells appliers for both the Maitreya body AND the CatWa head. One major thing with mesh heads, and one main reason I don't use one habitually, is that they're not nearly as customizable as mesh bodies because they DON'T work with the shape sliders. Other than perhaps size, length, maybe one or two other minor details, you can't change the features; therefore, the shape underneath doesn't affect the face, so you can wear your regular shape. You may or may not want to play around with head size to make everything look proportional, but that's up to you. You DON'T have to use their included shape. Eyes, I can't help with, but they should be fairly easy to find.
  19. It might help if you posted links or images to what strikes you, so we know what to suggest. "Cute" is a highly variable term, and you can go many different directions. If you want to go all mesh, I agree with your friend - TMP may not be the best choice. It's quite expensive, and a bit tricky to use, in my experience. Although overall it's my favorite body appearance-wise, the user interface is such a pain it's pretty much just collecting dust in my inventory, at this point. I vacillate between Maitreya and Belleza, personally, but also own Lena Lush (nice for a change of pace), Slink Hourglass (a bit TOO curvy sometimes for me, but amazing for corsets), and the Utilizator Kemono (which I use the human version of, when I'm in an anime sort of mood). They all have their up- and down-sides. Skin-wise, it'll help to pick a body first, so I recommend you grab demos of everything that sounds interesting and go from there. I ALWAYS suggest Pink Fuel, because I love Mochi's skins to death and rarely wear anything else. They definitely fit the bill for "cute," in my opinion! She does have appliers for most of the major bodies at this point. I say it helps to pick a body, because when you buy a skin, you want it to have appliers available for your body of choice. Feel free to shoot me an inworld message; I'm always up for a shopping buddy, if you're interested!
  20. What, exactly, happened when you tried to purchase? What error message was received, if any? Were you purchasing with $L, or with a credit card or other "real" money? 21. You will never get the (almost) perfectly smooth look of a mesh body without a mesh body. The standard body has its jagged edges and poorly detailed bits, and always will. BUT. That's not to say that the default body can't be lovely on its own, because it absolutely can. You may want to pick up a more up-to-date skin from somewhere - that goes a long way all by itself. I do recommend mesh hands and feet. They're not overly complicated - certainly not as much so as a full body - and you only really have to mess with appliers once, when you first set things up. The feet and hands are the worst parts of the default body. I really, really don't suggest a mesh head. For one, I think they're not only more expensive, but also more complicated than mesh bodies. For two, they're far less customizable. Go for it if you want, but definitely try some demos - I think you'll find they're more complicated than they're really worth.
  22. In addition to the one already suggeste, there's also this one: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/The-Wolfkin-Full-Body-Mesh-Wolfman-Avatar/4817944 Either is extremely similar to the one you posted, if not identical. Any item or avatar is technically custom the moment any editing has been done to it. Move a piece of fur or change the size of a claw, and bam! Custom piece. That doesn't mean they didn't buy a boxed avatar and do some editing themselves. Lots of people play the "Oh, it's custom" excuse when they don't want to be copied. (Which is silly, because if it's a boxed avatar already on the market, obviously other people will have or buy it.) I don't think the Niramyth avatar has a demo, although they do say you can ask in their inworld group to see the avatar in person. 1st Act doesn't appear to offer a demo, either. Still, even buying BOTH at full price would almost certainly be cheaper than getting a custom design for something that looks practically identical.
  23. No. Second Life and Steam are not related. You can use "Steam money" to buy games or content made by, associated with, or supported by Steam. Second Life is not any of those things. Here is a list of payment methods SL DOES accept: Accepted currencies and payment methods You may use the following payment methods with Second Life: Visa American Express MasterCard Delta Online (non-U.S. Residents only) JCB Diners Club Discover (U.S. Residents only) Visa Electron (non-U.S. Residents only) PayPal Skrill The currencies accepted for payment include: CAD, AUD, JPY, EUR, GBP for non-U.S. Residents, and USD for U.S. Residents Note: If you have had a payment method on file since before December 7, 2011, you may need to remove and re-add that payment method before making payments in non-USD currencies. PayPal For a complete list of currencies accepted by PayPal, visit their official website and view the page on multiple currencies. To use your PayPal balance when making transactions with Second Life, it must be in USD. You can convert your balance to USD at paypal.com (PayPal may impose exchange fees). Skrill Skrill offers a variety of payment options including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express, along with over 100 local payment options listed on their Payment Options page. For a complete list of currencies accepted by Skrill, visit their official website and view the page on Fees and Availability.
  24. I've heard there's something being worked on for heads to make them more customizable, but I don't know the details. At the moment, customizability on heads is extremely limited; I'd give them a pass, for now, unless you take a lot of photos. I love Maitreya; it's my absolute go-to body. Although I prefer the look of TMP just slightly, I find it far too difficult to work with for it to be something I use. Belleza is nice, particularly in that in comes with three body shapes. Slink is good, although I never did like the look of it on me. Lena Perky isn't bad. It really depends on what you like with your shape, what appliers are available for you, and what you're looking for in general. Do keep those alpha HUD's in mind; some are better than others.
  25. Most mesh bodies respond just fine to the usual shape sliders. However, of course, different mesh bodies do have some differences between each other, such as the default shapes and sizes of different body parts, and compatibility for some with regards to skins and clothing. Try demos!! My usual method is to grab a bunch of them and then head to a quiet sim, hop on a pose stand, and try them all on one at a time, comparing and contrasting the shapes and HUD's until I find the one that's right for me. If you're particularly in love with your skin, you might want to check what bodies your skin creator has made appliers for. Check out Mesh Body Addicts for reviews and SLURL's for lots of different bodies.
