  1. Beyond the usual stretched texture? There are points on the default avatar that suck. One of those points is between the legs. There just aren't very many pixels there, so textures appear stretched and blurry. There is no fix, other than getting a new mesh avatar, as Alwin said. Those have their own problems, but they do tend to look much better than the default avi, and you won't have the stretched texture problem.
  2. Not with as few details as you've given. How did you lose money? What happened? What isn't working properly? What is it doing instead? What land were you expecting? Have you actually contact customer support? Second Life has a very steep learning curve. You need to have a lot of patience. Linden Labs doesn't offer much in the way of tutorials except what's at that very first island you wind up in, so you largely have to figure things out by yourself, or see if other residents will help you. Many will. From your other post, I gather that the land you're talking about is the 512sqm meter plot you get for free as a Premium member? You don't just get it handed to you have; you have to go find it. Look for plots for sale, and buy one. Or you can get a Linden home, which IS completely free, and which you claim on the website.
  3. Please stop starting new threads. Seriously. If you feel you must, simply post on your previous threads. We'll see it. Did you ask the creator of that ad? They may well know what skin they used when shooting the ad. Shoot them an IM or notecard inworld and ask. Then wait patiently for a response. ETA: It's probably a skin created for or that works well with the Toddledoo avatar. Try searching Toddledoo stores inworld or on the marketplace.
  4. You've been inworld for a long time, perhaps, but evidently not on the forums much. The Answers forum is solely resident-to-resident - we're not getting paid, we're just helpful people. :smileywink: Lindens never come here. Try submitting a support ticket. Explain the issue thoroughly - more thoroughly than you have here. Or, if you are a Premium member, you can contact Live Chat. Since the issue might be with money, you may be able to contact billing, although depending on the nature of the problem, they might just have you submit a ticket anyway. Regardless, here are their numbers: Have billing issues? Give us a call. Note that phone support is for billing issues only. If you're having technical issues, please use technical support. 5. Turn off the nails using the utilities HUD, wait for ALL of your nails to go away, then turn them back on again. This may help force the system to show them all again. If all else fails, contact Slink customer support.
  6. Here is a guide to standard sizing. It's free, but you don't need to purchase it at all, anyway: All of the information you need is in the description. You choose the size that fits best with your shape settings. Keep in mind that you may still have to edit ou'your shape to fit into your clothing, but usually only by small amounts as long as your settings are close to one of those listed. If nothing is happening, it is probably less the suit and more user error. Go to a low-traffic sim and add the appropriate sized suit. (Add, not Wear.) Give it a minute to load up. If it's not appearing at all, try right-clicking it in your inventory and choosing Edit. Sometimes this seems to help. If it simply will not appear at all, try a different size, in case there is some kind of glitch with your chosen size. If that doesn't work, check the creator's profile to see how they prefer to be contacted, then send them a polite notecard or IM explaining the problem and asking for assistance. As for a refund, unlikely. If anything, you'll probably get a replacement, not a refund. Unless it's transferrable, you can't return it, which is why most merchants have a no-refund policy.
  7. Just type "Skin Addiction" into your inworld search. They should come right up.
  8. Try asking the Skin Addiction group inworld. Those people are miracle workers, I swear. It's harder to tell with photoshopped pictures, of course, but they can give it a shot there.
  9. File doesn't work on my computer, which makes sense, because you need to upload the photo SOMEWHERE online for us to see it, I believe; we don't have access to your computer files, which is good. Try uploading it here, or to flickr or one of many other sites.
  10. Your partner can easily go to the land, create a pick, then simply copy and paste the information from yours into his or her new pick.
  11. SL isn't really a game; it's a virtual world. You're likely to find others enjoying it - dancing, shopping, or chatting in various public venues. There are many. Check out some events, or use inworld search to find popular venues. Traffic numbers shown by locations in search aren't really that accurate, but particularly popular locations will often have an image of the stylized head and shoulders of three people. The more of the three that are in color, the more popular the place tends to be, so if all three are "lit up"/in color (in my viewer, it's orange, but I'm not sure if that's consistant across all viewers), you'll probably find lots of people there. You can also try groups for things you're interested in, and meet people there.
  12. I'm not sure why you would have recieved $1300L for "buying" a house. You recieve many benefits as a premium member, certainly. Access to Live Chat is one of them; I presume it's under "Help" at the top of this page, but I'm not premium anymore, myself, so I can't double check that. $1300L for redeeming a Linden home is not. As far as $L bonuses go, you get two. You'll start recieving $300L on Tuesday, and continue to recieve $300L per week for as long as you hold a premium account, deposited every Tuesday. You'll also recieve a one-time bonus of $1000L after 45 consecutive days of premium membership. When it comes to the $2500L you purchased, contact live chat or call billing: Have billing issues? 13. SL isn't a dating service. I wouldn't advise using it as one. It can and does happen, of course, that people meet and begin a relationship and move it to RL and are very happy together; but it's not terribly common. SL isn't set up for that. It's better, imo, to go in expecting and trying to make friends, and see if a relationship evolves naturally. For a RL relationship, stick to RL dating services like those you're already on. The closest thing I can think of in SL is AVMatch. If you really want a relationship, try that, perhaps.
  14. For this, you don't. You check the grid status page, and then you get up and take a walk, get some coffee, have a snack, start dinner, run errands, or do whatever else you need to do to pass the time until LL gets the grid back up and running. They already know there's a problem, and they're already fixing it. You'll just have to wait. For future reference, you can find the option to submit a support ticket under Help -> Contact Support, but it's unnecessary for you to do so right now for this issue.
  15. I don't know. None of us do; we're all just residents, just like you. Keep checking here for updates. In the meantime, go have a snack, run some errands, watch a movie, etc. Take your time. It'll probably be resolved by the time you return.
  16. As with any mesh body or attachment, you need SOME kind of applier to wear any skin but those included with the body. Lena is Omega compatible, though, which opens up a world of possibilities. Check out this skin, which includes two different musculatures. I haven't tried it, myself, but it works with Omega and is nicely muscled. The creator has another Omega-compatible skin, as well, with less muscle if the one above has too much for you. That was just a quick marketplace search; I'm sure there are more.
  17. No. Land is usually non-refundable. I've never seen anywhere, in fact, that will offer a refund on land rental fees. As per usual, any landowner can ban any person for any reason. You say you did nothing wrong but that there was "drama." Maybe you did something and maybe you didn't, but you won't get a refund for your rent, period. Linden Labs won't interfere - it's a resident-to-resident dispute, as far as they're concerned, and they don't involve themselves in those. Live and learn. Don't cause or involve yourself in drama, especially with someone you're paying money to.
  18. And this is why we try demos. Not all mesh clothing works with all mesh bodies. One of many things you should check when you purchase a mesh body is the alpha HUD that comes with it. You should always, always, always look at the cuts in the alpha HUD to see how versatile they are. The more cuts there are and the smaller they are, the more clothing you'll be able to wear. Use the alpha HUD to try hiding the sections of the body that poke through your clothes. With clothing you already own, some may work, and some may not. When purchasing new clothing, try it with the body and alpha HUD to make sure everything works well together; or purchase clothing made specifically for Maitreya Lara.
  19. Make sure you check the quality of your shoes. Beggars can't be choosers, and all that, but there ARE decent-quality freebies out there, from good places. Try the FabFree blog to find nice freebies. Many of the shoes she posts there are for Slink, but it's worth a look regardless. There are a few free stores inworld that you can check out, as well. Not all are created equal. I've heard decent things about the Free Dove. Baby Monkey is awesome. I believe she still offers non-Slink options, and her prices are very good!
  20. You can modify a purchased shape if you purchase a modifiable shape. The permissions should be listed on the right-hand side of the listing, somewhere. Copy means you can make copies of what you purchase; Mod means you can modify it; Trans means you can transfer/give it to someone else. Look for a Copy/Mod shape. You shouldn't need to transfer it to anyone, so that part is unimportant. You want to be able to make copies (in case you mess up) and modify it so you can change anything you don't like. (Keep in mind that if something is Transfer, but NO Copy, giving it away will remove it from your inventory.) You can make your own shape, or modify one of the newbie shapes. Personally, I usually buy a shape with a face I like (since that's usually the hardest part to modify) and then modify from there. My current shape looks very little like the original! Lots of little tweaks through the years. Alternatively, try the Vitruvian shapes for a great starting point for a proportional human avi, or the standard size set as a guide to shapes that will fit in standard size mesh clothing. Skins usually can't be modified, although you can buy add-ons like make-up, brows, etc to change it up a bit. You don't really need to buy a "complete avatar." I don't actually suggest it. You'll look more unique if you piece together something on your own, that works for you. There is no reason to buy shape and skin together other than convenience/laziness. If you'd like, I'll be on for a little while. Feel free to shoot me a message if you're inworld. I like to shop. :smileywink:
  21. The reason people suggest using a classic avatar is that the mesh starter avatars don't work with any other clothing. There is no mesh made to fit them, and they do not have any kind of alpha HUD to hide any part of the mesh body so that you can wear regular mesh clothing. You wear what it came with. What is it about the classic avatar that you don't like? If you're having trouble editing your shape to something you like, you can purchase ready-made shapes, and some are free. If you hate the skin, you can get another one (insert my usual plug for Pink Fuel, which offers a high-quality freebie for avatars under thirty days). If it's the general jaggedness of the shape...that, I'm afraid, you're stuck with unless you buy a mesh avatar. I strongly recommend, if you really feel you can't deal with a non-mesh avatar, that you save some money, buy $L, and invest in a much better mesh avatar than any of the starters.

  23. It may be "sold out." There are a limited number of houses in each style. The Aspen may all be taken. Choose a different style, and check periodically to see if any more have become available. You can abandon your Linden home up to five times per twenty-four hour period, so you can move into a different house now, and change it later.
  24. It happened to me when I first started wearing a mesh body, but it hasn't happened in a while now. It's far from unusual, though. When mesh is created, it attaches by default to the right hand. All of it. Unless the creator changes it before putting it up for sale, that's where it stays. You can't tell, because it doesn't appear there - it goes where it's rigged to go, but it stays attached to the right hand. That means that your body, hair, hands, feet, shoes, pants, shirt, and whatever other mesh you might be wearing may ALL be hanging out on your right hand. Move the body to avatar center by detaching it, right-clicking it in your inventory, and choosing Attach To --> Center. It's been suggested that that may help. There is no actual, official fix, but I've heard from many people that this fixed the problem for them. If you're feeling ambitious, you can do the same with other things you're wearing. Move your feet and hands to left and right foot and hand, respectively; move your hair to skull, chin, or nose; etc. Lessen the burden on that poor right hand, and see if it helps for you.
  25. I've heard from others that the Lelutka head doesn't work well with the TMP body. It can be done, perhaps, but TMP tends to make things that work with TMP, and not much else. Slink hands and feet work with Maitreya, but NOT with TMP, which comes with its own hands and feet. Again, TMP works with TMP and not much else. Shoes for Slink with not work with TMP feet. None of the three things you're asking about are available on Marketplace; you have to go inworld. TRY DEMOS. Seriously. You may find that you hate that head, and those bodies, and want something else. You've already been given a fantastic resource, and it really is worth perusing and then shopping around for the right fit for you. The three Big Names in bodies right now are Slink, Maitreya, and Belleza. All three work with Slink hands and feet. I don't use a mesh head myself, so I can't tell you much either way about that. TMP is gorgeous, but the system is so complicated I don't know many people who still use it, myself included. Don't limit yourself to those three, though; they're hardly the only ones out there!
