  1. It's possible that the person you were with had an assortment of pre-edited versions of their own shape at different heights, to be able to easily adjust on poseballs and during animations. I haven't heard of any HUD that would do this for you. You will probably want some kind of genitals. I find Xcite! to be very attractive, and they offer a number of options. If you have a popular skin, you'll even be able to get a near perfect color match using their "skin match" system. Be aware that by defalt the genitals "emote" for you, so if you want to roleplay without automatic input, you may wish to turn this feature off. As far as sexual animations go, there are a lot of HUD's out there. Look for the "Sex Anywhere" HUD, or similar; I've heard it's very good, though I haven't used it myself. You can buy animations separately, but it can be a pain to find exactly what you're looking for when you want it when they're free-floating in your inventory. The marketplace is a pretty good place to look. Type a search for "sex anywhere" or just "sex" and go through the animations and HUD's. See which ones have a lot of reviews, and read them. One or two reviews can be faked, but I tend to be more trusting of products with 20 or 30 reviews. Jaqueline Beaumont has a few that seem well-liked, and she has a demo available. Not all will be on the marketplace; I've seen a vendor for one at the Mama Allpa mainstore and didn't see it in the marketplace, but it's a good starting point. Some HUD's will have an option to "resync" since if one partner is lagging, couple's animations often go out of sync. It's not a bad idea to simply ask your partner what they're using, if you like something that they do, an animation they have, etc. Depending on what you're looking for, there are also some great "couples animators" out there. Some probably have sex poses; others are more kissing and hugging type animators, but a good prelude Experiment; try to find demos of things you like, if you can, though with HUD's it's not always possible. Good luck! EDITED because apparently I can't spell today.
  2. It's been mentioned before. I prefer my items to be copy, as opposed to transfer, so I can create multiple outfits or have an "undamaged" copy of an item in case I mess one up trying to edit. Especially with prim attachments, modifyable is a must for me. If it's mod, it should be copy for editing purposes, as others have mentioned - thus, no room for transfer, since then you could just give out free copies to everyone. Transfer isn't a big deal for me. I have some outfits that are transfer, particularly from one creator. I like them quite a bit, but I do wish I could copy the items into different outfit folders, since there are many ways to wear the items - instead of being able to transfer them. I will admit, though, I have some items cluttering up my inventory that I don't want to delete, because I paid for them, but don't use or wear. It would be nice if I could give them away, but I'll take the "copy" ability instead. What I won't buy are no-perm items, where I can't mod, copy, OR transfer. That's just silly, to me.
  3. Honestly, I have occasionally wanted to go up to new players and ask them if they'd like some help with their avatars. What stops me is that many new avatars now are alts (not all, but many - some will say directly in their profile that this is not their first account); and a fear of accidentally insulting someone. Plus not knowing a whole lot of good freebie places. For me, the most off-putting thing about an avatar's appearance is a lack of AO. I've noticed more men without AO's than women, which makes sense, because it seems harder to find good male AO's - or anything, really. But the jerky head movements and walk don't really appeal to me. I've never outright refused to talk to anyone without an AO, though. One of these days when I finally clean up my inventory, maybe I'll put together a couple decent quality "noob" packages - one male, one female, with a free AO, a few free skins and shapes, a couple free prim hairs, and some clothes and shoes to get them started. Plus some landmarks, etc. Maybe an instructional notecard on how to use the marketplace to find more, or something. It would be a start, at least.
  4. I'm finally getting around to taking some photos in SL - my favorite outfits, profile photos, photos just to play around. Unfortunately, I'm not so good with the search feature, so I'm coming up blank on good places to take photos. I'm looking for a variety of locations - beaches, ballrooms, cities, modern, vintage, futuristic, pretty much anything goes. Preferably low-lag, preferably without too terribly many people at any given time, but neither of those are absolutely necessary. Anyone willing to suggest a couple of nice places to take pictures? Thanks in advance! P.S. I haven't really wanted to invest in a "photo studio," since it seems like more fun to me to go and explore actual places in SL, and most photo studio backgrounds look obviously fake to me anyway. But if anyone knows some good poses/places to buy poses - nothing fancy - for taking photos, that would also be awesome.
  5. CTS Wardrobe. It's $699L, and you get the wardrobe HUD as well as a rezzable wardrobe for your home. You get a personal email address specifically for the wardrobe; just take a snapshot of your item and send it to the provided address. When you click the center button of the HUD, you're taken to your personal wardrobe, where you can search items by whatever tag or tags you gave them (blue items, buttoned items, jeans, tops, dresses, whatever). If you have RLV, you can even wear the items straight from the wardrobe, and you choose what detaches, if anything, when each item is worn. You can also wear only parts of an item; for example, if you want to wear a top with prim ties under a jacket, you can choose to wear only the shirt layer of the top, and not the ties, so the jacket looks right when you add it on top. (I have no affiliation with CTS, by the way; I'm just a fan of the wardrobe! I use it for everything now, although it is a pain at first to get all your items loaded in. You do get a free posestand with tintable backdrop and around 15 poses for taking photos, which helps.)
  6. Most creators are good about this; they understand the utter failure of the marketplace delivery system. I've had many items go mysteriously missing that said they had been delivered, and in most cases they were replaced pretty much as soon as the creator recieved my "Help! I didn't get..." message. Otherwise, create a ticket and wait for a response; I usually recieve one very quickly, and my items are redelivered. It hasn't taken more than a day or so, for me. Some creators will make you do this, since the failure wasn't on their part, and others will simply replace the item as long as you provide your transaction history. Good luck!
  7. Have you tried messaging the creator of the item you linked? It's possible she would be willing to customize her body glitter with the mother-of-pearl shine you're looking for. You'll probably pay more, though.
  8. Try searching around the forums for a good freebies list someone made a while ago. That will get you much farther than asking someone to spend their own time making you something for free. There's a reason skins in SL can cost upwards of $L1000 - they take a lot of time and effort to make! No one in their right mind will make you one for free. There are some nice freebie skins and shapes out there. You'll find that many people on SL with good-looking avi's have made their own shapes by modifying, in some cases heavily, and over a long period of time, the default shapes, or freebie shapes. As someone said, look for a modifiable free shape that you're somewhat happy with, and go from there. Skins are harder, but you can freebie shop until you find one that you like. The marketplace is a great source for freebies of all kinds. If you get a "decent" skin and can start earning $L in SL, you'll be able to upgrade later.
  9. I would much rather purchase copyable merchandise than transferable. Many merchants offer "gift" options should I want to buy something to give away; most of the time if I buy an object, I buy it for me and only me. Sure, it would be nice to be able to transfer items that I decide I don't like or that I've finished with, but the copy ability is more important to me. I like the freedom to modify and still have an untouched copy if (when) I mess up the mod; or to be able to create multiple outfits with one item. I think many merchants have likely found that customers often prefer copy to trans, which would be why so many items have those permissions. If you really want transferable items, I would go with what others suggest - buy only transferable items. For myself, I'll keep my copy option; but then, I often don't pay attention to perms when I buy an item. See it, love it, buy it, that's me. I still mourn my "copy" option on any non-copyable item, though, even if they are trans. To each their own. I have noticed that some merchants offer options as to the permissions you want; sometimes for additional cost, but they're there. I know one store in particular that allows you to pick between a copy version or a transfer version, for the same price.
  10. I've been scared off of accepting freebies, especially skins, from people since discovering that many items I was given when I was new were copybotted. They have, of course, since been deleted, but I would be suspicious of anyone giving out bunches of freebie items. I'd rather send someone to freebie shops for them to pick out their own things. That way, not only can they be relatively sure they're not getting copybotted items, but they also get to choose what THEY think is attractive, even if the person giving the landmarks hated it. I would want someone to tell me if my avatar looked really bad - things poking out of weird places, attached wrong, upside down, whatever. I'd be less thrilled to be told that my shape or skin or clothes in general looked bad, since that's pretty subjective - everyone likes different things. I do tend to let people know - mostly guys - that they would look better with an AO, since lately I've been running into tons of guys with no AO, and many of them have been around since 2008 or 2009.
