  1. Looks like it will literally be a road to nowhere if the reveal is at the new land mass that has turned up elsewhere...lol
  2. Yay! Looking forward to seeing what it is. I think it's something that looks more modern. That glimpse we seen in Patch's pic through the back doesn't look like there's much greenery out there, so something maybe that's a bit more sparse in the land decor, or maybe that's just that particular view. It looks like there's a low white coloured stucco type wall , not a modern brick wall. And we see something similar in the main pic - the porch floor and side wall. So maybe it's the kind of house you might find somewhere like Arizona? Doing a Google search you can see some of them have a mix of modern brick and stucco look. https://bit.ly/3y04ZGp I've seen some described as 'concrete, creamy stucco and weathering steel' - you can see the window/door frame there looks weathered, so it all fits (for me anyway lol). So that's my vote - modern Arizona style house
  3. Is there an up-to-date list anywhere of all the resident run shops/galleries/cafes etc. in Bellisseria? I'm in two minds about this whole commercial idea. Both positive and negative sides of it have been posted by others already. I don't think it's easy to implement. It could be fun to have periodic pop-up shop events at Millibank. Something I think would have been fun to see was little faux shops dotted around the themes, perhaps that dispense Linden owned stuff like content creation packs, premium gifts or other free Linden things (maybe seasonal goodies). Maybe a corner shop, or small post office type build. There are plenty of small hangout spots across Belli that could have been used for that, and still remain a hangout spot if chairs etc. are provided . It needn't be a home sized building, it could be smaller or a small stall or something similar. I think it would add to the realism of the existing home regions. Maybe in 10 years time with the next generation of homes we'll see that...:)
  4. It's official - the new theme reveal is Monday!:)
  5. This looks like a classic Patch teaser for a new theme! And that image screams modern to me! This will make some people here very happy:) I'm trying to make out what that is in the right of the window - looks like a coule of small bushes in the distance through maybe a shuttered style window...not sure...I think all will be revealed at the Expo.. Soon! EDIT- clues: in addition to what's already been posted, they are in modern clothes and that window frame is metal - you can see the wear on the edges. I'll be so surprised if it isn't modern...
  6. I'd be interested in attending but don't want to fork out the money at the moment, although $25 a day seems kind a reasonable. They have to pay the speakers I guess. If it was free, well then I definately would attend:) I really don't care about FB not attending (am actually thinking it's better that they don't), but would have liked to see SL represented by someone current.
  7. I noticed some threads here recently regarding the 'Metaverse' and heard about this event going on soon: https://www.enterthemetaverse.io/ Philip Rosedale is one of the presenters and is mentioned as a founder of Second Life, but it doesn't look like anyone from the current Linden Labs is presenting.
  8. Looks like a theme reveal is certain - the SL Expo group inworld notice mentions a theme release at the expo. Only a week to go!
  9. Thanks for posting this, I hadn't seen it yet. I'm excited to see what this will bring! I assume it's a theme reveal. (the page also mentions separately limited edition surprises, I wonder what those will be!)
  10. I think that is a good point, and I'm glad you mentioned it. I see both sides: I don't for a minute think that the wedding was somehow intended to be cliquey or for those in the know or part of a 'club'. I do think it was done in a genuine spirit of wanting to give the couple a lovely experience in SL. But unfortunately it could come off, as has been suggested already in the thread (somewhere I think), that it was cliquey as others across the grid getting married don't have this unique experience that was offered. And I do get how that feeling can arise if you are looking from the point of view as someone not part of that group of friends, and I don't think we should dismiss that. Maybe the community center should have had an opening party first, and then the wedding take place after. I wouldn't like to see the LL team refraining from interracting inworld due to situations like this.
  11. My guess is that there will be something to replace the old Sahreta Osumai theme, eventually, and probably the Meadowbrook We already have replacements for some of the old themes now: Fantasy replaces Elderglen Log homes replace Tahoe ??? replaces Sahreta Osumai ??? replaces Meadowbrook We know that there are at least 2 more themes to come, so we can speculate they will replace those themes above. And there could be a 3rd one (Patch suggested in some interview, can't remember where but I remember him saying it:) ). Yes, Expo next month!:) I love going to the Christmas Expo:) I'd be really really surprised if there was no theme reveal then. Hopfully we'll get some hints through Patch's flicker page soon...
  12. Yeah, but who says the VW has to mirror exactly the real world? That's the joy of a VW:)
  13. I'm not into the Chalets personally but I agree I think it would look lovely. Maybe in the next Linden Home upgrade (10 years from now?) all the themes will have seasonal changes:)
  14. Yes, that seems to be what we have seen happening - the regions are in some kind of queue and when all the homes in one has been taken the next is released. And of course there are the 'manual' releases too. But there are certainly quite a few regions that appear to be finished but have not yet finished the QA phases (Stilt and chalet mainly). I don't know where you are getting that from, I doubt that's what LL are trying to do. The Ambassador program is run privately by users, it's nothing to do with LL. The BBB was an individual initiative which has grown, so from what I've seen it seems like it's more about fostering community between the mainland and Bellisseria. Quote: "The purpose of the role is to be an advocate for Bellisseria in the respective continent. To achieve this you'll be expected to get close to the residents and users of your respective continent, and to become an advocate for that continent within Bellisseria also. For example if your continent has an established railroad system you might want to join all the local and SL wide Rail Groups to raise your profile." Whilst the first sentence may seem to support your argument, I disagree that the fundamental purpose is to 'lets get all the premium mainland folk into Bellisseria', due to the the bolded rest of the quote. I don't think anyone would realistically be trying to do that. There are people that don't want the covenant of Bellisseria, and prefer more freedom the mainland provides, or just more land. That will never change. And it would be stupid of LL to even try to do that (I doubt that it would increase their revenue). The purpose of an Embassy is to foster cultural and social relationships. It's a private volunteer role, not an LL role, so it seems to me that's what the users involved are trying to do. That's what I think based on the information provided by the BBB. I wasn't at the opening, so I don't know if something else was said that might contradict that.
  15. I only recently started getting more organized as I was fed up not being able to remember and find things I'd bought. So I set up a bunch of folders, similar to what other's have posted here and got a fair bit sorted, but what's really helpful about just getting some folders set is that now if I buy anything I can put it straight in there. So at the very least, I'd say to anyone, even if you're not getting round to clearing your existing inventory up yet, at least set up some folder categories so that going forward you can start to organise stuff as you buy or make it. I've still got loads to sort...but I'll get there eventually....
  16. Exactly. If it's that valuless then you wouldn't get medical and other professions using it! A few links which are interesting (not recent but I think relevant nonetheless): https://www.healthysimulation.com/virtual-reality-in-medicine/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2821584/ (The National Center for Biotechnology Information) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-43744009 (Virtual reality game helps ease pain for burns victims) https://fortune.com/2015/08/17/virtual-reality-hospitals/ https://trainingindustry.com/articles/learning-technologies/3-ways-virtual-reality-training-is-producing-better-outcomes/ Those kind of statements make me mad because the person obviously hasn't bothered to research the value of the virtual properly.
  17. I have to disagree with this - despite hearing numerous people saying how much they dislike FB, the fact is it is still a main player in social media and online communities, with millions of users who are not going to quit it any time soon. Losing even a handful million users isn't much of a dent to it's user base....so... ....I am concerned about this too. If they develop a 'Metaverse' that is even reasonably successful ..well...that is just an awful prospect in my opinion for so many reasons that should be clear to anyone who has followed FB's history of antics and ethics over the past 10 years...
  18. Wow, yes, they've really gone all out on the decorating! There's a lot to look at and some really wonderful touches that have been added in the past day or so. The whole place feels really grand. I love the statues that have been put up, and the love the boats - a great way to get about. Rez zones have gone in too (I was wondering if we would get some here). It really is worth exploring.
  19. The house in that picture does have a kind of 'Linden' vibe about it. The bushes are not so different to those found in the log areas (I've just noticed some eyes and mouth in the trees lol). But Patch doesn't usually post anything with a new theme so far ahead of reveal/release date, if I remember correctly. Of course that can change. I'm hoping we'll get a theme release at the Christmas Expo.
