  1. Unfortunately I think you're right, and LL have already as much said that mesh is the way to continue with SL. I can't see that they are going to do anything to change that. On the one hand I think it's been good for SL in that it's brought new content creators and up'd the aesthetic quality of items. On the other hand it's destroyed the wonderful culture of inworld creativity that once existed, which is such a shame, and in my view a real lacking. And I don't see how that can ever be brought back without the ability to create mesh inworld. Maybe in 10 years or whatever there'll be something new that will enable that to happen (tech changes so let's keep a little ray of hope..) and allow a choice of either building inworld or externally - best of both worlds. But for now, I think we're stuck with building mesh externally:(
  2. Yeah, this struck me as one of the main takeaways of the talk. It's an important point. At some point a good proportion of the userbase is not going to be there anymore, so LL has to look at ways to reach younger audiences now (no good doing that 5 or 10 years down the line), and I think this will impact a lot of decisions they make going forward.
  3. Yes, they're beautiful, and the view looks gorgeous in some of them.
  4. I think these will be really popular. The Moles have outdone themselves with this theme. There are so many beautiful touches like the window and doorway shapes, and the landscaping features like wells and crystals. Even the bridges are decorative...
  5. Here's one of the houses... I think the house numbers are so pretty - it's that pink thing on the right. Overall the region looks beautiful and the houses feel really spacious inside. And a street view at night time...it's stunning
  6. Quick snapshot of the new homes area: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SLB Mesmerize/212/67/22
  7. It's official! The next theme is Fantasy:) (Patch just announced it at SL18B)
  8. I mean, it does look like a 'normal' house, but considering the theme of this years SLB the theme of which is supposed to be relevant ('Hidden Worlds, and the theme does have a fantasy feel at the SLB event), plus the fact that he has a book that looks magical, I still think the theme is a fantasy one of some kind or other:) So I imagine the outside style of the house plus the landscaping will really convey whatever theme it is (much like all the other 'houses' to date, which do have similar interiors).
  9. I was thinking the same thing the other day. I just refer to the Stilt areas as Stilt land, log areas as Logland. Sounds kind of boring though. In the beginning when there was just the land mass containing the Traditionals it wasn't an issue, but we have so many separate land areas now, tradiitonal area, victorian, multiple pickles, stilts, chatlet one etc. I think it would be quite nice, and fun, to have some kind of consensus for names for the distinct areas. What I would like to see even more, is names of continents and areas such as we are discussing officially written on the map. I've been in SL for years and still don't know which continent is called what! LOL
  10. Yes, this. My thoughts go to his family and friends, sad news indeed:(
  11. Thanks:) I'm so used to seeing 'Add' or 'Wear Me' that because it didn't say that I thought it wasn't a wearable. It's a great way to go sightseeing! I am however constantly getting script errors once I get going (Could not find animation '00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000'.).
  12. This is a great place! I didn't know this had been built. Also outside is a cute snack van and bycicles you can get and then rez on the rez zone. And with the beach hangout just behind it's a beautiful place to spend some leisure time:) http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Puffin%20Head/48/17/23
  13. If he posts a teaser pic on flickr nearer the time like he does sometimes this might enable us to narrow it down:)
  14. Thanks, I didn't know that. Medieval would be interesting and as you say could fit with fantasy. I could see that as a real possibility. I think a space theme would be a great addition, but I'm not sure how popular it would be in comparison, so my guess would be that there won't be one.
  15. As mentioned by others the theme reveal will be SL18B and the theme of SL18B this year is Hidden Worlds - I don't know how much the new home theme might be related to that, but in inworld chat the other day when people asked about a clue the only thing Patch said was "You are not the first to pass this way. Nor shall you be the last." Now I don't know for sure if that actually was a clue or not. My first thought was a fantasy theme, and I don't think it would be impossible to have some kind of fantasy theme, just as there was for the first gen homes. I'm not sure to what extent it would be in a true fantasy style though as all of the land houses so far have a similar build, so I would think it would be pretty much like that with variations in decor, roofing maybe and landscaping as usual. Just my thoughts. I'm looking forward to the reveal though, they are always fun. (not sure what's happened to the line spacing😵)
  16. The last few islands have gone in which allow a connection between Stilt land and Chalet land. They aren't all showing up on the map yet, you can see part of it. So once it's all finished we'll be able to drive from the west of Stilt land side along the road that runs through all these newer regions over to the chalets (actually from Log land I think as there's a bridge connection to the Stilts and I think that leads to the road than runs all the way through).
  17. It's probably just an old image of a region that's been moved. If you don't get any info when clicking on it I'm pretty sure it means there is nothing there. The map doesn't seem to be updating these days.
  18. I used to love Pixeldolls too:) It still exists as a $10 linden shop now (not new stuff )... http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Chartreuse/227/105/22
  19. Hanging out at the new Stilt community center. New beach decor went up in at the wave beach area yesterday, along with a lovely new community center, a beach bard hangout, which is great since the Stilts lands didn't really have one yet (I think). A great place to have beach parties with surfing and BBQs... http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SSPE1768/236/109/76
  20. Some rocks and trees have been added to the wave region, it's looking really nice and it appears more decor is coming too. Can't wait to see it when it's finished... For anyone who hasn't been here yet you can do some fun surfing on the waves.... http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SSPE1768/204/35/25
  21. Perhaps Reveal Region..for the SL18B reveal of the next theme....
  22. The void area of Stilt land is now being built in, not yet showing on the map...
  23. Lots of mole activity today in the unfinished Stilt areas. Someone has been busy putting out treats in the new build areas..not sure if these are snacks for the busy hungry working Moles, or passing traveller treats..😁 They are probably just part of what they do when building in the beach bars etc. Still, I like to think of them as treats for explorers:) (I didn't eat them all....honestly....)
  24. That store is great. I recently was looking at BOM skins to update my system body (yes, I have not updated to mesh...) and really was getting fed up with the repetitive look of highlights on the face. Looks really weird IMO, but I found a BOM skin that I liked despite that, and it wasn't expensive.I was able to make it look how I wanted it by getting a highlight corrector from that store. I was so happy:) So I think BOM is great.
  25. Yup. I've been wishing for rotatable homes since the houseboats first landed. I don't think they can do anything with existing homes, but who knows going forward (logs homes are already rotatable 90 degrees). I do wish they would provide the content packs for all the themes available somewhere, maybe the community centers or something.
