  1. That would make sense, too. Though the way it was inferred, there was not mention of pricing or a required payment. Then again, also was not the main focus of the comment, but rather an aside for inclusion - so you could be correct in that.
  2. I could be misunderstanding, but the way I understand it is that you only pay for a new name change. For example: you pay for a name change from 0 (original name) to 1 (new name.) You pay a second time to change it to 2 (second new name) - but at any time you can change it back to your original and any previously-purchased names without cost; you can "wear" any of these three names at-will: 0, 1, and 2. I get this impression based on many comments made by @Oz Linden, mostly inferences, not outright described this way. So, it's akin to purchasing the name, as though it were an outfit: wear it whenever you want as you now own it. This is based on context of his comments and how he has described the feature. Though as always, I reserve the right to be status quo: wrongola. LOL
  3. I think the updated article is about. new or changed API for targeting agents in scripts, such as the owner of a scripted gadget, etc. So that if someone changes their name, using this new (or updated) API is supposed to prevent breakage. That they are now updating the knowledgeable to specifically mention name-changing (I believe) is a sign that it's coming sooner rather than later. The same thing happened within days of the first new LL homes being released. I'm not suggesting it's only days away, but that it is getting very close to being implemented. I wouldn't be surprised if they already are well into testing.
  4. Name-changing is coming soon. I think this is the first time I've seen it actually mentioned in the Knowledge Base. The post was updated minutes ago.
  5. Yes, it is the same with makeup. If a mesh head or body is "BOM" compatible then they already are mapped to the standard avatar UV. It is important also to say: not all creators of said makeup are great creators, either. If it looks sloppy then it's sloppy work of that creator. I've created a skin and include loads of lipsticks, eyeliners, eyeshadows, and even varieties of eyebrows with it. I tell you wot: IM my alt in world (Alyona Chernov) and I'll send you a few lipsticks and eyeshadows just so you can see it. And also - just because BOM doesn't mean you have to always be BOM. The wonderful thing is you can always mix and match. For example: BOM Lipstick and eyeliner and Applier Eyeshadow and so on. BOM is not "all or nothing".
  6. One fun little fact: The first place a new account TPs to becomes their HOME location. Usually, it is the info hub they are sent to when completing the initial tutorial. However, if you create a new account and as soon as you rez, you can open the world map and click anywhere in the world. TP there and that becomes your first HOME spot. Just a little FYIO for ALT-a-holics.
  7. OH! Is that you? Hahahaa, ~waves~ So you get a free show as I stand nekkid in my parcel a lot as I fiddle with outfits. Butt (intentional butt) it takes many tries and recognizing when it's a keeper. I got that spot on my fourth try (and second day of trying) - I was tying to get Hooten Holler then realized: *pipe! Dream! Dumdum!* - and when I landed on that parcel I was ready to hit the abandon button... then I hesitated... then decided "you know, this is actually a really sweet spot!". I agree on the "switching with alt" option. That happened to me in the beginning when my alt ended up with a houseboat that I preferred this account to have to have and I got the traditional. Literally backward from my intention (because it was obviously an accidental abandon of a houseboat as I was going for traditionals and it appeared like magic LOL)
  8. That's a moot point. Would you be willing to experiment L$700 away to find out? Then find out that even if you're right, it doesn't fit well. The point is if that creator cannot bother to give such simple details in their description, at least - how well-done is their work in general? As for assumptions: I would assume "Standard five sizes" - except maybe less than five.
  9. Many creators have discontinued support for Venus. So those of us still using have money to burn. My alt uses the Legacy, so that always is a search term when I shop MP - I will only ever demo (and often purchase if well-made) for Legacy. Just saying that if you do support these bodies, make it very clear in your marketing and description. I also have Tonic and in their group: Tonic users also are clamoring for content. It would be amazingly refreshing to see a creator supporting multiple mesh bodies and Maitreya NOT being one of them. I'd have to frequent that creator just for props!
  10. I agree with you there. Better to just move on. I can see something like that at a "permanent" house like a Traditional (even a . Victorian,) but it looks sorely out-of-place at a campground, where everything is supposed to basically be temporary (as in: portable) so you can "pack up and leave" kind of thing LOL This is why things like above-ground pools and such fit right in. But something like that rickety-looking stable... I'm not so sure about that. Besides, keep playing the game, you may end-up is an amazing spot!
  11. I think I've had this happen only twice, *maybe* three times in 13 years. So it's fortunate that it is a rare thing. This also is why I recommend to everyone I get a chance to that they should always make a copy of any HUD and only ever wear the copy. This way, if and when this nuclear event happens, you only need make a new copy of the one you already have.
  12. I've had system-layer versions of that for years. Try this with onion-skin appliers: Add a tattoo - any tattoo. Now add that wet-skin layer on top. Tun on your AO and watch what happens. This is called "Texture Thrashing" - because one alpha layer on top of another alpha layer where both are set to blend is never a good thing. And these type of alpha add-ons do not look very good *at all* in "mask" mode. However, with BOM: All three layers are baked into a single texture. Looks *perfect*. In this picture, skin, tattoo (well, it's on my back) and water-droplets, and the swimsuit are all baked system-layers. Only the body, head and hair are mesh. As for materials, seriously? If that's your priority over the flexibility and variety possibilities I give, then so be it. LOL
  13. It's not just the skins and makeup, etc., it's clothing, too. Even the old 512x512 stuff, if well-made, can look pretty good (such as lingerie). BOM has opened the door for those clothing creators again when we thought that part of the fashion industry was utterly destroyed by mesh. Now it's back again and even better than before because we can now create system-layer clothing items with 1024x1024 resolution textures. I've created a BOM Undies Kit and they look fantastic. No more pervs derendering clothes to get a free peek, underwear every time with a perfect fit and never, ever clips through that mesh dress, etc. TL;DR: BOM is so much more than just old skins and makeup.
  14. A really interesting item that is for sale at higher-than-normal pricing (>L$700) and does not specify which mesh body it's compatible with (zero mention of any mesh body whatsoever) in advert image or Marketplace description and no demo or in-world place to see it.
  15. Gripe threads. (But know that I still love you, @rasterscan)LOL
  16. Granted. And the eight turns into eighteen... then 36... then 180... Friends and Family are undecided whether to send you to hospital or commission a Glass Casket, rip your house apart looking for partially-eaten apples.. I wish I have more feasible reason to actually wear those "Ooh, that IS sexy...must-buy..." outfits I bought because they are... well, sexy.
  17. Do you mean BAN (as in land controls: they are banned from entering your owned land)? Or do you mean BLOCKED (as in they are "muted" and you cannot see or hear from them in anyway?) In both cases, if you use a scripted "mail list" gadget to send your notices (I freakin' hate those, BTW LOL) - then no: it will not affect the BAN or BLOCK status of anyone.
  18. Okay-dokie, so just for kicks, here's my first image from Black Dragon viewer. This is an unedited "straight from viewer" snapshot test. The viewer does amazing with color dynamic range. I don't know if it's a placebo-effect because I'm trying something new (the viewer) or if it actually is that much better at capturing color dynamic range, I am genuinely thinking it's the latter. Were I to edit, I'd likely boost the contrast and add more tonal range in the lighting, as it is: it's the Lutz City windlight. But this is test. It is only a test. Were this an actual effort, there would have been some atmospheric touching-up. This is only a test. *annoying-beeeeeep*
  19. QAvimator will work fine. It's the rigging of the mesh body that has to be set. The physics then react to the avatar movement. Any animation that causes enough movement will cause the physics to react.
  20. The Laugh clickie is the most important. If I can rack-up the laugh-count on a comment, then I am happy knowing I was able to bring at least a smile to someone's face. Even ugly faces. Because some of us hav'em. Those are the hardest ones to make smile, because it huuurtz! Otherwise all you allz who dun clickie those thingiez are all poopyheads and can all go jump in the SL sewers! like, fo-reelz.
  21. Zero coding skills. Though if you have them, you can use them. Also, the system is amazingly scalable, it works great "right out of the box" and default settings, but the amount of granular control is revealed in steps. The deeper you go, the super-fine-tuning you can do. And there are a lot of free resources like plug-ins and design themes, a-la Wordpress, thought WordPress is a FisherPrice infant's toy in comparison (yes, really). MOODLE is what is called a "Learning Management System" (LMS) and MOODLE stands for "Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment". That "Modular" part is what makes it so amazingly flexible. The "Dynamic" is all the interactivity you can put into it. The "Management" part is what allows you (and your students) to keep track of what's going on and how well they're doing. I'll stop here, go check out their web site, read the system requirement on their download page. You can run a copy on a local computer for experimenting, etc., or on a web host to be accessible from the Internet. Most web hosts that offer C-Panel apps will have MOODLE as one of the selections to install.
  22. They do already defy all laws of gravity.
  23. I concur with you. I doubt I will change my own snapshotting methods and paradigms and workflow, though one thing I did notice is that shadows are far better-looking in BD than any other viewer (and the Poser really is a game-changer). Other than that the performance I'm experiencing really is amazing. But still have to stick to Catznip for incoming-inventory management (also a game-changer). Though I like the interface of BD a lot (I like the "flat-look" and simplicity. My only gripe has been answered above (mapping multiple keys to turning). And as to the default key-mapping, I get it and I understand what @NiranV Dean is doing (it's the same key-mapping I use with Star Trek Online and Neverwinter) - but it's like shifting gear mentally when I get into SL and I've been using this key combination for almost 14 years! LOL I'll play with the photo-tools aspect and may plop an experiment or two up here, though I'll still likely stick with my Affinity Photo and On1 for post-processing, rather than trying to do it all in-viewer.
