  1. Do only mention Second Life, what about the desktop in Windows itself? First, double check the mouse settings in Windows control panel (in case the double-click speed setting has changed, you may be double-tapping too fast or too slow) - if that is all fine and well, try another mouse in case it's your mouse that's going bad. If the mouse works normally in Windows, have you tried a different viewer such as LL Viewer, Catznip, Firestorm, or Kokua (whichever is not what you're using now)? If the double-click works in another viewer then the problem is in your main viewer. If not then the problem is with your system.
  2. When billing renew happens you will (likely) be billed for the annual as an upgrade, so budget the $99 for the end of the month.
  3. Precisely this. I gave up my home this week for exactly this reason; to be ready for the Trailers release. Keeping the Houseboat, though, because awesome location LOL
  4. I've actually driven the Atomic Infinity Semi with 40' Trailer over this bridge, though it is a superior vehicle in controlling it (the trick is to go slowly and not have to hold the throttle button down, a.k.a. "cruise control".) I see this bridge as a fun challenge all the time. One of the very few things in SL that gives me enjoyment consistently.
  5. Locate the profile on the web (my.secondlife.com/name.resident) - file the DMCA takedown on the profile picture that appears there (it will have to be removed from the profile proper to do so).
  6. Just thought I'd point out that even Linden Lab calls Second Life a "Game" - found this while surfing' just this morning (and note that it is a paid-for advert): Oh, and yes, this is an old thread, deal with it.
  7. My PC runs four apps: Second Life, Start Trek Online, Neverwinder, and Brave Browser. Full stop. LOL I do *Everything* else on my Mac, even run SL sometimes (because it looks so much better than any PC I've seen and new iMac Pro at office: even Firestorm screams on it LOL) SL is an experience and it's more or less the same experience on any platform. Though outside SL it's a usability experience and for that I personally prefer macOS. Windows is not bad, macOS is just better, I think.
  8. No time zones, universal time everywhere in-world. If you are trying to synchronize your time with anyone else, then synchronize based on Pacific Daylight Time (or Standard time in Winter) - use the clock in the upper right of your Viewer. We have been calling this "SLT" or "Second Life Time" for years - as though it were its own RL time zone. So don't bother asking others what their time zone is when coordinating, but rather ask them when they are usually in-world "SLT time".
  9. That is a good question!. I think it's best to put it this way: The end result is moot - I would say they are of equal "quality" on Windows and Mac alike. The road to getting there, however, is a massive difference. Even with the same software on both Windows and Macintosh: Firestorm Viewer, Affinity Photo, (or Photoshop, etc.) and On1 RAW or On1 Effects - the process is definitely faster, more pleasurable, and seriously better all the way around on the Macintosh. Retina Display with bold, beautiful color I just can never seem to get on any PC I have *ever* seen - in short: I'll take a 14" Mac with half the "power"over a 36" Windows PC with all the same software. Edit to add: The software I use is available on Windows and macOS and I cannot recommend them enough and Adobe is seriously irrelevant now and over-priced: for Photographers/Snapshotters - MUST GET: On1 Photo Raw (or On1 Photo Effects - sometimes even offered for free). Nothing you can do in Photoshop that I cannot do just a well and faster and easier in Photo RAW (https://www.on1.com) If you insist on a photo illustration tool (which is what Photoshop is) the Affinity Photo is a must have, and has a similar interface to Photoshop, does everything Photoshop does, and costs only $60, which is NOT a rental (subscription) - but you *own it*. Go figure (https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/photo/). There is always Gimp and such, as well.
  10. OH! I hadn't thought about that: macOS is always breaking/fixing/breaking stuff all the time with each update/upgrade/update. Apple: You love to hate to love to hate to... Well, like how one feels about anything Microsoft LOL
  11. Compelled? no. if it feels compelled then it isn't really "art" is it? The wonder of the art is in the experimentation and trying of new things, going into directions you never intended to go and not even sure when to stop. As for being satisfied with the crop and angle of capturing (snapshotting) with the alt-cam ability - absolutely. I can take equivalently-wonderful snapshots and the self-proclaimed "professionals" with just the keyboard and tools given in the official LL viewer. The "Phototools" widget in Firestorm feels a lot like training wheels to me. But that's good as it allows those who like to do snapshotting (no, it is NOT "photography" by definition) then it's good that they have Instagram-ish tools to help them out. And Yes, I do sometimes perform some post-processing when I'm in the mood for it, but not generally.
  12. Except that you have a two-year advanced notice from the Lab, whereas with a rental from another "resident" you could get an offline that all your stuff are now in lost and found because you were ejected from the land and group. So do go ahead and continue to compare apples to oranges, people do it all the time.
  13. Good call. I am of the believe most, as in super-majority of people in SL doing events, etc., don't intend to be obtrusive in any way and sometimes a friendly word is all it takes (sometimes they may not even be ware of some things, like the example where sounds weren't set to parcel-only, etc.) I roam around all over the place in many modes, if anyone ever IM's me about being a bother, I apologize and move on more quickly than I may have, for example.
  14. Even though it's the most efficient and best-practice to shop this way, you are right: it won;t catch on because it is counter-intuitive and people cannot wrap their mind around the idea of it and they look at it as space. I could rent a 4096 parcel with only 25% of the prim allowance and a 2048 parcel with the same prim allotment as a 4096 and 75% of shoppers will go for the 4096. It was the same with letterboxed video, many people looked at it and saw half the picture as missing (vertically) rather than half the picture as being added (horizontally). Much of the world populace have the cognizance of cows.
  15. I use a PC at home and a Mac when I'm at office (which I prefer, actually) - though I haven't really noticed this issue (and I'm an avid alt-cammer LOL), which is why I wonder if it's also specific to certain "builds". EDIT to add: I do have the HiDPI (Retina Display) option turned ON, so I wonder if that also has an affect (as in: the problem not manifesting in that mode.) Feels like something I want to experiment with because I R Cyooreeusskitty.
  16. She refers to the ones held at private residences. Thanks for clarifying and I agree: if it moves around then I think that's fair. If it's always at the same house then, to me, it's an abuse of resources and denies others their right to the best possible experience in their own place. Were it to happen in my region over and over then I'd speak with that home owner and if, after three "events" it continues then an AR would be justified (but only as a last resort.)
  17. Paint an individual picture with each line, then line two and one make a clearer picture, then the third line completes the picture, but in an unexpected way... Delicate alteration with expert care, A sudden bottomless expanse, Skybox floor plays hide-and-seek.
  18. I read-up on the physics of helicopters and they literally should not be able to fly. The universe is a mysteriously-amazing place.
