This happens rarely for me now there are redeliveries available (thank goodness for redeliveries!) but I have done it on occasion. If I just forgot, I just figure the vendor deserves the L for being so good I bought it twice. If it was a vendor glitch and it double billed me, then i'd drop a note.

On the head to body perspective, I notice a lot of SL kimono fit this way, with narrow sloped shoulders (as normal shoulder width can make it look abnormally shoulder-padded), and very close fitting over the boobs. It can make you seem a little bobbleheaded, but that's just the style. I wear closer fitting hairstyles to compensate. Or, as this person has done, add an extra collar/scarf or a haori.

Scrolling through the photos, the creator seems to have a number of looks, and the 'feeling oriental' might be referring to the clothing or backdrop too. It's certainly not cringey in any way. I think it works pretty well, and what struck me was the contrast between the cherry red accessories and the muted tones and snow. I'm not sure a blonde avie would have worked very well for this composition. fwiw, I'm not Japanese and I have many pics on my flickr of me in kimono (I collect them). I've only ever got positive comments from Japanese SLers.

not a bad idea actually, good luck to ya. I can't help you though as I don't have a mic, hence no one gets to hear the sultry tones of my voice. Aw don't worry, as others have pointed out, we're just old, and you wandered onto our lawn.

A friend of mine (longtime SLer who is a wee bit shy, though I told him forumers are sweethearts 😁) is looking for some lgbtq+ friendly hangout places, for people who are looking for friendship and casual chat. Most of what he finds is fetishy, so not that sort of thing. Any nice welcoming hangout places to recommend? I know nothing of this milieu so I appreciate any recommendations. Won't really fix anything. We all know, in most open platforms, people who are determined to cause mischief will simply create an alt account and carry on. All we can truly control is our own reactions.

There are several old Linden infohubs (I have an alt parked at Castle Valeria) but it's not essential to always login at home location (or last location). If you have a favourite location you like to log in at, just add the landmark to "my favorites" folder and in Preferences>>General section tick "show favorite locations on login screen". Then you can pick from your favourite list where you want to appear. This is for SL viewer, I don't recall for the others but probably they have a similar function.

But virtual stuff is functional in a virtual world. As well as emotional and social. Perhaps the question you're really asking is why people are in the virtual world to begin with? That would make a cool PhD paper - why do some people totally "get it" (ie virtual worlds) and some totally don't. What we buy once we are there is kinda irrelevant and what people said already - we buy what we like.

I think I'll keep hoping for a la carte. I don't need more groups, don't need stipend, not interested in a 512 mainland plot - I just want a Linden home. 🙃

Btw, building on "land" in SL doesn't mean it's touching the ground. When you own a parcel of land it goes all the way up into the sky. You can build anywhere up or down.
