  1. "payment info used" status sticks forever, after you've bought something with L on MP for example, no matter how you got your hands on those L. I've tried that with a new alt who never had payment method added.
  2. Since someone was 'confused' by one of my earlier comments, the creative commons approaches I was referring to are these: About CC Licenses - Creative Commons Yup, nor is licensing of creative content that simple. There are many options, I would think creative people would be glad of that.
  3. I'm 52, and my parents have SL accounts, though they forgot all about them long ago. They Netflix and chat on FaceTime all day...octogenarians...smh
  4. Well, guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I've said my piece. 🙂
  5. I get why some people want mod rights, but saying creators are preventing us from being creative is, in my opinion, a bit of a stretch. Nothing but our own time and inclination is preventing us from making whatever we desire in SL. Some creators may like to follow creative commons use and remix approach, but some may not. Hasn't hurt their sales judging by the crowds in shops offering no mod stuff.
  6. I think some creators got into the habit of no-mod as re-delivery wasn't always as seamless as it is now. For customers who like to tinker but may not know the best way of doing so, they can wreck their item with a couple clicks. I've done my share of messing up textures and scripts, and though I was mostly careful to make a backup, not everyone remembers to do that.
  7. Many places I used to visit daily, and friends I used to chat with daily, are gone for one reason or another, so in a way my "old SL" is already no more, but it was a part of my life in a very real way. I feel a bit like it's passed on to a new generation these days, and I hope that continues and they get as much fun out of it as I did.
  8. Yup you heard me right, they owe us nothing. SL goods are completely 'buyer beware', partly because there is no control mechanism (are we going to sue a creator for a broken HUD?) nor any set standards. Had I been obnoxious or threatening in asking for my HUD to be fixed, should she still have fixed it? I think this is a non-problem if we are just nice to each other. And consider, if we start getting strict about quality control and standards and purchase contracts, what effect will that have on small time, hobbyist creators who just throw stuff together for fun and put it up for sale? We have gotten used to higher quality goods in SL, but I think it would be a shame to squeeze out all other levels of creators. Or would such rules only apply to big name mesh makers?
  9. hmm? I was the customer with the broken thing.
  10. Free or paid, both are customers. In neither case does the maker owe me anything besides what they sold me. If I read the description wrongly, or didn't bother to demo or check with them first before buying, that's on me. If I couldn't reach the creator (and there are shops out there where the creator is long gone) and I bought it anyway, again, that's on me. That said, if something is clearly broken, it's reasonable to ask for it to be fixed. I bought an item with a broken HUD once, and I politely informed the maker the HUD wasn't working. She fixed it for me within minutes, though I didn't hurry her. We don't have to be "acolytes" but being courteous sure doesn't hurt.
  11. I had several alts, but one by one they were killed. Now it's just me and my last alt... staring at each other...
  12. What did the pirate say on his 80th Birthday? Aye matey.
  13. I haven't had any problems. If the item listing is unclear about whether it is mod, and mod is a dealbreaker for me, then I don't buy it. Or I look up the maker and ask them. Creators don't owe us anything here...they make stuff and decide to share it or not as they choose. As a consumer, I'm grateful people take time to make cool stuff for my entertainment.
  14. that is so true it is now in my profile title thingy
  15. however i apparently confused 7 people. Or the same person 7 times. hard to say
  16. oh dear, I crossed the 1K comments mark. but i'm innocent
  17. hehe looks like it was fun. no longer happening now?
  18. I wondered how such a place eluded my travels, as I really like gothic horror builds. I've done the journal hunt and been back a few times just to wander the halls and check out all the details of the decor and ghostly effects ^,..,^
  19. pet delight: finding a SL place I never visited before that brings back that magical feel from early years I was pleasantly surprised by the Castle Dracula: Gothic Horror Experience build. It was really well done and I loved the ending. Animesh Dracula is a smexy old vamp.
  20. I think I'll skip your house for trick or treating 😧 (sorry, I dunno, haven't come across that one before)
  21. Til I came across the youtube recently and actually saw the title of the song, I always thought the Go-Go's were singing "I love Lucille"
